First, I am Black and I had the worst possible nose for rhinoplasty- Oily, thick skin with a bulbous tip. Second, I was broke! I mean , I had under $10,00.00 to my name. Yet, was able to get the perfect nose for under $2,800.00. How? My IQ was measured at 135 when I was in grade 8. I am clever. So what did I do? I researched, researched , researched. Here were the results: 1. The USA has a broken healthcare system . The cost of a nose job in the USA is 10-20 times higher than in Asia. 2. The USA has mostly White doctors who were trained by other White doctors who mostly treat White patients. They don't understand Black noses even when they advertise Ethnic rhinoplasty! This means a White doctor will try to put what he thinks is a good Black nose on a Black patient. If you tell him that you want a "White nose" he won't get it. My conclusion after a year of research was to go to Asia. But Where? I didn't speak the language! I had never been outside the USA before. So I went to Thailand. Nose jobs were cheap and I was so happy. But I was doomed because when I went to the consultations , I was rejected or was given a much higher price than advertised. The doctors in Thailand were used to treating Thai noses. When they saw my difficult Black nose , they new it would be too much work. So I researched more and discovered India. Most people dont know that India has Black skinned people that are far darker than any African Americans I had ever encountered. I saw Dr. Vivek Kumar and I showed him a picture of Johnny Depp and said I wanted a nose like this. He said, " I'll give you a better nose than that"! But , he was board certified and refused to use any silicone implants. He only wanted to use my bodies own tissue for the surgery- this is considered the gold standard for the top rhinoplasty surgeons. I agreed. The surgery was painless as I was put to sleep. The cost was only $2000.00 US dollars. The results were great. The third picture was the final result. For the first time in my life, my nose had definition and was not very bulbous .I got compliments on my nose, but there were limitations to using your bodies own tissues. I wanted a straighter profile and sharper tip. Only silicone implants can do this!!!!!! I repeat , only silicone implants can give you a perfectly straight profile , forward projection and a sharp tip. My doctor in India did not understand that beauty , to me, was the fake Hollywood look that he hated!!!!! So, after my surgery in India , two years later, I went back to Thailand . Thailand is home to the silicone implant masters . That's right . That is what they do all day long, shove implants in people's noses and get paid in under 30 minutes. They reject me before because my nose was too Black. No I returned for my revenge. I found a great doctor in Pattaya, Thailand at We Care Clinic on Pattaya Klong road. She was sexy, her staff was sexy, and she was actually a doctor who trains other doctors to insert silicone implants. I was asking her about her credentials because I was slightly nervous about going to a clinic instead of a major hospital like I had done in India. She told me she was an expert, could perform the operation in under 20 minutes, that the recovery was about a week, stitches come out on two weeks, she never had a patient get infected from her implants, and that her record was 35 implants completed in a single day! I was blown away. Oh, and the cost... you won't believe this.....only 600 US dollars. I repeat , only 600 US dollars. I repeat, only 600 US dollars. This cost included the surgery, the antibiotics, cleaning by her sexy nurses every three days, and stitches removal . I repeat only 600 US dollars. When one gets service like this, you wonder , what the hell is gone wrong with the USA? I read some of these blogs and people pay 7,000- 25,000 dollars in the USA to be treated by ugly White doctors and incompetent nurses. I got the royal treatment for 600 US dollars. My advice to all Black people is this. Go to India and get a rhinoplasty using your own body tissue. Then top it off with a silicone implant from Pattaya, Thailand . People think I'm Johnny Depp now. Remember this when coming to Thailand. Don't get your implant done in Bangkok. Bangkok will charge you the maximum price because that is where all the Americans go. My final results are on the last 2 pictures. Actually, not quite final because my stitches from my implant come out in 8 days and my nose is still slightly swollen, however, my friends agree that my nose tip is sharp, my profile is perfect, and that I look like a Hollywood movie star. Updated on 20 Jul 2017: I added these two photos that really show the sharp tip. The dark circles under my eyes will disappear soon. The implant used was soft silicone. Updated on 20 Jul 2017: My doctor here in Thailand, Dr. Sexy, pointed out that one nostril is larger than the other. She offered to fix it for me! What a doll!!! Updated on 28 Jul 2017: Here is a shot of my nose that I took today in Pattaya, Thailand. Updated on 28 Jul 2017:
Hi all, had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Vivek. I was there to find info. On liposuction of the arm. I had few other queries around lipo of the thigh as well for me to prepare going for that at a later date. Though always good to know about the costs and requirements. However Dr. Vivek was quite hesistent to share the process, provide clear answers to my queries, gave wishy washy answers to ops related questions. I had done my homework well for many days and had apprised myself with info. On the process, risk and precautions, post ops care, and costs. Therefore I wanted security of getting the right doctor to do the job and someone who gives comfort to a patient who is willing to go under the doctor's knife. However Dr. Vivek fell very short to provide this comfort. When I enquired about the costs he shocked me by quoting 3 times the cost of what it would cost elsewhere. on my raising the query on high costs, he told me 'catch'...he was operating out of Ganga ram hospital and had also included over night stay charges, garment, tests etc. Charges. To justify the high costs he arbitrarily justified getting a 'part' of lipo done on thigh and gave random reasons for not addressing the other parts of thigh. When I asked the cost of only lipo of arm...a very small job indeed..he said the hospital bills as per "lipo code in the database" , so the cost will be still the same...about INR 1 lac. I was quite surprised with this response. Anyways when I further enquired on why the costs were high...he said because 'safety' is a concern.... so hospital is safer. On my probing about the risks involved and plan of action..no clear answers were given. He gave implicit hints on risks being the highest....(u guys can guess...). I was super surprised. Also added we want 1 night stay to observe the patient. Slowly I put all together in my head and left the place...but certainly showing my displeasure that he hasn't been clear and has not given me comfort. He said as u wish....wow, what a way to provide pre-operative service. I hated to have gone there and paying INR 1000 for consulation charges for such a useless experience. Online review and visiting forums for patient review and other doctors write ups gave me much more information and comfort on considering liposuction as an option. But not to get disheartened, there are many other competent doctors in Delhi and I'm seeking consulation from them on the procedure. Risking my body open to someone who is out there to Increase BILLING for Ganga ram hospital is not at all comfortable to me. My take aways and recommendation to others. Don't trust a doctor who doesn't own his brand and has no solid inclination to take full ownership of results in clear objective terms Costs are important and don't give in to scare tactics and flimsy words of 'safety' ... until and unless risks are defined and mitigating efforts are clearly laid out. Qualified surgeons are not quacks andndnd therefore obliged to give scientific and clear objective details Most importantly never go with a doctor who doesn't make you comfortable through out...pre ops, ops and post ops.
