I generally don’t take the time to write Yelp reviews unless I have experienced service that goes well beyond my expectations. I recently had one of these exceptional encounters that deserves sharing. Dr. Susan Stuart of La Jolla Skin has been our family’s dermatologist for many years. She came highly recommended to us by friends, and our family doctor. Her ability to diagnose and treat has always been spot-on for my family. Dr. Stuart now focuses on aesthetic skin treatments in her practice. I never thought I would seek out, or benefit from aesthetic skin treatment, but my old and sun damaged skin suggested otherwise. So I made another visit to Dr. Stuart, this time for me. Although it had been awhile since I had been to Dr Stuart’s office, I was treated like a VIP by her staff. Dr Stuart gave me a careful examination and explained my options for treatment and the best course of action. I returned a few days later to let Dr. Stuart and her team work their magic. Not even a week has passed and the results are already amazing. I had a few friends that went to other dermatologists and didn’t achieve much, so I was a bit reluctant to get anything done. My wife wishes I hadn’t waited so long. Dr. Stuart removed years of neglect and abuse from my skin. She is the best by far! A big shout out to Dr. Stuart and the staff at La Jolla Skin for their great care and expertise! They get my highest recommendation!
I'm new to San Diego from South Florida. Recently had Botox with Dr. Stuart at La Jolla Skin. I had a wonderful experience and my Botox turned out great... just in time for my birthday! I've had Botox many time and in one visit she perfectly froze my face while maintaining a very natural look. The office was nice and the staff was great.
History: I am 5'6", 120lb. I have trained horses all my life and suffered tons of sun exposure as a job hazard. I have hated my turkey neck for two decades. Approx 4 weeks ago I went to a La Jolla doctor for consultation to have a necklift, short scar facelift and also breast augmentation. The doctor, whom I would recommend to anyone who asks, is fabulous. He said I did not have enough of a problem for a necklift and suggested Fraxel laser with his colleague listed above (same suite of offices). I have had many other treatements which were all disappointing, particulary the phony Thermage Laser. So, I have had Fraxel on my neck, chest and crowsfeet twice since mid-May. The results are amazing. I have had visible tightening on the neck already - my chest has shown less improvement because it had less damage. Although, the Fraxel got rid of some small raised skin tags - free side benefit. I had no pain since the doctor numbs me for an hour before starting treatment. Anyone having this should have 23% lidocaine applied to the area for an hour pre-treatment. Also, if you have a ride the doc can give a mild oral sedative to help with anxiety. I drive myself to and from the doc without any problem. Also, have the doc use blue die so they treat all areas evenly. My doc recommended Botox with the first treatment of my crowsfeet to aid with smoothing the skin - it looks great. I usually have the treatment around 10a.m. remain pink and puffy until around 5 p.m. I look as though I got pink at the beach - it is not red , sore or blistered. No one can tell I have had it done they just comment that I look more youthful. I did not peel visibly with either session so far and never turned brown like I have with other peels. I did have the facelift and boobs 4 weeks ago - the overhaul has been a great self-esteem builder. I will add photos when it is all done.
Beware! I received cool sculpting here from Robert, who supposedly has worked for cool sculpting themselves prior to working under Dr. Stuart. I received my first treatment in 2016. After seeing no results from Robert, I received a second treatment a few months later. Following my second treatment I had a huge rectangular shaped mark on my lower abdominal area clearly due to being burnt!!! I contacted Robert and I was told that it will go away in a month or so, and here I am 7 months later with the exact same scar. After contacting Robert numerous times, he told me that I signed a consent form and that there is nothing I can do, except wait and hope it disappears. I am absolutely embarrassed by the permanent scarring. It is very noticeable and I cannot where anything at all that shows my stomach!!! Every time I look at myself in a mirror i am reminded of this hideous scar. Not one person from the clinic has called me out of concern, not even Dr. Stuart who is in-charge of the clinic. DO NOT go to this clinic unless you want a permanent scar!!!!!!!
For lines around the eye such as "crow's feet" that become more pronounced with facial expression, BOTOX is very effective at diminishing their appearance. In your case, however, BOTOX alone won't be able to reduce the wrinkles under the eyelid. As other surgeons have noted, these lines are static (i.e., they remain even when you are not using those facial muscles). Because of this, it would be best to consider dermal fillers or to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon about other procedures, such as lower eyelid blepharoplasty. I hope this is helpful to you.
It's not uncommon for patients to develop a headache after BOTOX treatment, regardless of how many units were injected. A headache can persist for 3 to 4 weeks after your treatment. However, if your headache becomes progressively worse from this point, please alert your provider about it. You should always feeling comfortable calling your doctor. It's also perfectly fine to take normal over-the-counter medications to relieve your headache. Best of luck to you.
Thank you for your question. The tissue surrounding your injection sites absorbs the botulinum toxin right away, so there's no need to worry about it moving to another area. However, contact sports can result in unexpected injury — and any potential swelling to the areas that have been injected could complicate matters. Out of an abundance of caution, I would recommend waiting a day or 2 before getting back on the field. Good luck to you!
Judging from your photos, it would appear that the photo on the far left is the source of your dissatisfaction. This could be caused by the BOTOX relaxing muscles in the lower face to the point that it resembles sagging jowls. Though it's not much comfort at the moment, keep in mind that the effects of BOTOX will fade considerably over the next 3 months. I would recommend visiting the surgeon or injector who performed the treatment and explaining that you're unhappy with the result. Best of luck to you.
Thank you for your question. Both BOTOX and Dysport contain botulinum toxin A as the chemical that works to achieve the same end result. The difference lies in the molecular configurations of the proteins attached to the molecules. While not negligible, the differences have only a moderate effect on the dosage your board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon will administer. That would account for the price difference. The active ingredient that actually affects your wrinkles is the botulinum toxin A, and this is why many doctors use Dysport and BOTOX — both are effective. I hope this answer is helpful to you.
