I’m 37 years old and I were very unhappy with my nasolabial folds for few years. After reading reviews online I became very scared about bumps and horror stories and I was very skeptical about fillers. I’ve decided to go with Sculptra because of it’s promises ( natural, gradual building results that last up to 2 years) and after doing my homework I’ve decided with a dermatologist in Toronto (I live here). You can actually go on Scuptra’s website and find a trained doctor and they only train specialists so that not everybody can use Sculptra. I have to tell you that I was blown away by the results.......way above my expectations!! Sculptra builds up gradually, natural looking and it will last up to 2 years which is way longer than the other fillers. I didn’t tell any of my friends but almost all of them started noticing that I look more rested, younger but they couldn’t quite put their finger on it because the result built up in time. I can’t emphasise enough the importance of the right doctor, do your homework, go to ratedoctor.com and see the ratings for a physician and most of all don’t go a doctor because they promise you a lower price......you might end up paying more to get the cheap job fixed.
I did a lot of researchers before decided to go to this clinic. I was interested to inject sculptra, but I decided to do something cheaper to try the clinic first. The doctor injected 45 units Xeomin, I never had used it before, but the doctor told me it is good as Botox and Dysport. Simply didn't work, it was I didn't inject nothing!!! No results! I went back to the clinic but the doctor was very rude with me no approachable! He didn't fix the problem, I spent almost $600 for nothing! Very disappointed.I used Botox since I was 34 years old, now I am 42. Always it worked perfectly. I just moved to Toronto and I am trying to find a dermatologist.
I ask all of my patients to return for a follow-up, 2 weeks after their first Botox treatment. In this way, I can assess whether the amounts of Botox used were appropriate and in the right locations. Since these parameters vary from person to person, the only way to know whether the treatment yielded perfect results is to check two weeks later, once the effect has occurred. If a touch up is required, for one reason or another, it is my pleasure to add further Botox to the treatment sites at no expense for the touch-up. We now know the precise amounts and locations that will be required at the time of the next Botox treatment in 3-4 months.
Botox will not help under eye "bags". These are due to herniation of underlying fat into the area under the eye. Occasionally, hyaluronic acid injectables will soften the "tear troughs" and make the bags less noticeable. In some individuals with large swellings under the eyes, the only thing that will help is surgery.
Although there are small differences between Perlane and Juvedem Ultra Plus, essentially identical results can be obtained with these products, when injected properly. These products contain Hyaluronic Acid, a normal constituent of the skin, that gradually diminishes over time, with resulting loss of skin plumpness. It is possible that, three years after your first treatment, you may require additional filler. Also, treatment is technique-sensitive, meaning that your most recent filler was placed in a slightly different location than your first, yielding slightly different results. Go back to the doctor who performed the treatment and I am sure that he or she will do everything possible to make you happy. Sheldon V. Pollack, MD, FRCPC Toronto Cosmetic Skin Surgery Centre, Inc.
I always have patients begin topical tretinoin cream (Retin-A, etc.) at least 2-4 weeks prior to beginning Glycolic Acid Peels. This prepares the skin for an acid environment and helps to improve exfoliation of the outer layers of skin. The only proviso is that I ask patients not to use this for a night or two just prior to the peel, since this can increase peeling or burning of the skin after the peel. Use of concurrent tretinoin cream with Glycolic Acid peels definitely decreases the likelihood of post-peel breakouts. Sheldon V. Pollack, MD, FRCPC Toronto Cosmetic Skin Surgery Centre, Inc.
As stated above, the longevity of the effect of Masseter muscle weakness after Botox injections, depends on a number of factors, the most important of which is the dose administered. Typically, for lower face shaping, we use up to 30 units per side, which is twice what you received. The effect generally lasts for 9-12 months. In your case, I would expect return of masseter strength and thickness within 6 months. If you are interested in reversing the effect of Botox in ANY anatomic area, one way to hasten this is to USE the muscles involved. The Botox effect appears to wear off faster, the more the muscle is used. In the case of Masseter muscles, you can do an "exercise" in which you clamp down your teeth hard, 10 times in a row, several times during the day, to more quickly reverse the Botox effect.
