I had a Fleur de Lis Abdominoplasty, and lateral liposuction. Wonderful caring staff from the consult through surgery process. Everyone is honest and kind. Dr. O'Brien is a jem, and also honest but who wouldn't want that. When marking me for surgery she said "I will pull you as tight as I can". She kept my expectations grounded. She was also dealing with a mess, as I've lost 180 pounds. She doesn't nickel and dime charges. When I brought up a concern about a potential swollen mons area, she said she would deal with it. Many other surgeons would charge for a separate monsplasty. I just love, love this practice and the care I have received. I truly look forward to going back for my two additional surgeries. And FYI my insurance is paying $0. So in addition to having to pay a painful amount of money I'm also extremely pleased.
The photos speak for themselves. Highly recommend Dr. Shannon O'Brien. First photo is before and after FDL tummy tuck, muscle repair, Mons lift with breast reduction & lift. Second photo 6 weeks post op. This was a 6 hour surgery & 11 pounds of skin was removed.
I am 55 years old and I have been going to Portland Plastic Surgery Group for several years for botox. I had Juvederm once, but every time I looked in the mirror, I noticed new signs of aging. My Marionette lines were getting deeper, and I was developing a turkey neck. I resorted to multiple colorful scarves until my kids started teasing me, so I decided to have a facelift. I met with three plastic surgeons in the Portland area, and I consulted with them regarding this facelift. After educating myself, I opted to go with Dr. Shannon O’ Brien. First of all, she has superb bedside manners and she is a perfectionist. Dr. O’ Brien listened to my complaints and formulated a plan with me. I was very excited to have the procedure done, which included a face/neck lift and fat grafts. I had the procedure in mid-September of 2018 at the ambulatory surgical unit. I was under general anesthesia and Dr. O’ Brien worked for six hours straight. She came out to talk to my husband (who is also a physician) about the procedure and post-op care. My husband came to pick me up at the post-surgical unit and could not stop praising her suturing finesse and perfect lines that were almost not visible. The next day, my drains were taken off (which were almost empty) and my recovery started. My family took care of me for three weeks. I wish my friends and acquaintances knew about this: they kept praising my hairdresser. I felt bad to give him all the credit when Dr. Shannon O’ Brien did all the work. Now, I look and feel a decade younger. I have more confidence, and now, I can take off my scarves. After three months, my scars were almost gone, and you wouldn’t have noticed this unless you knew the surgery was done and you were specifically looking for signs. Now, I am six months out, and feel great and just met Dr. O’ Brien today for a post-op visit. Surgical recovery takes one year, but I’m almost recovered. A big thanks to Dr. Shannon O’ Brien and her team who made this life-changing experience for me. There are many pros in choosing her and her team: 1. A fantastic surgeon with a wide experience in her field. 2. The surgery was performed with a fantastic team at the Northwest Ambulatory Surgery Center. 3. General Anesthesia was very important as I did not want to have this under conscious sedation given the extent and duration of this surgery. 4. General Anesthesia was done under a certified anesthesiologist who was fantastic. 5. Dr. O’ Brien has a team that covers for her if needed after surgery if she is not around. The others who I met were solo practitioners. 6. Dr. O’ Brien is not only a fantastic surgeon, but she is also a very nice person, and it always a pleasure meeting with her. She is a fine artist.
Plastic surgery was just about the last thing I thought I'd ever do but here I am. Please let me tell you about it and hopefully it'll help you make your own decision about it. As stated in the title, I've always had a bit of a double chin. It runs in the family. It's nothing severe but I've always felt terrible about it, and as I got older it seemed to only be getting worse. I could see and feel that obnoxious blob of fat undulating in a distracting way under my chin whenever I talked or moved my head and needless to say it made me self-conscious especially about video or photos. After randomly spending several nights studying the topic, plastic surgery began to move from "fantasy" to "possibility." I went in for a consultation and got good news. My doctor thought I'd be a great fit for the procedure due to my age and situation. After some thorough consideration I actually signed up for surgery and went through with it. Again, something I never thought I'd do but I did it anyway! Post-surgery wasn't great but it wasn't that hard to get through. I was given some pain medication that helped a lot. I was lucky and was able to just work from home during that time, and I know I took a couple days off too. I stopped needing the hardcore pain meds after a few days, and the pain was mostly gone within a week or two. Not that my chin felt NORMAL, no, that took months, but mostly stopped being a problem fairly quickly. The bruising was pretty ugly and I wore scarves for a few weeks, but they went away fine on their own. The numbness in spots persisted for months but it wasn't particularly bothersome, just kind of weird. I will note that eating was more complicated than I'd thought, so don't be like me and make sure you've got some liquidy or gooey foods around that require little or no chewing or opening of your mouth. It's hard to pin down when my results were "final" because apparently it can take up to a year for things to fully settle back down. But now that it's over a year later I can confidently talk about the final results . . . I still have a round, soft face, I was not suddenly given a sharp, square Angelina Jolie jaw, but my jaw and chin are more defined now, and the area under my jaw is much smaller and more nicely shaped than the lumpy thing I had before. Would someone look at me and exclaim that I suddenly look much better or different? Probably not. It's fairly subtle, especially if I'm not moving or talking. At most it looks like I lost some weight, which is always good, but not exactly striking. I think people will notice my additional confidence much more than they'll consciously realize that I had something done to my face. Overall, I'm pretty happy. Part of me had bigger expectations, but I'm realizing that my facial shape is what it is, and that having a sharp, angular jaw isn't required to have a nice face. What I've given myself instead of an ideal face is a better version of my own. Over time I've stopped worrying about my chin much at all. I'm much more confident and much less afraid of cameras now. I look more like I want to, I feel less dysmorphia when I look in a mirror. I went in partly hoping for someone else's jaw, but now I appreciate my own assets much more now that they are not hidden under ugly chin rolls. So, if you're considering this surgery, if you just want a better version of your existing face, then chin lipo is worth a try. However if what you want out of plastic surgery is to look like someone else, I don't think chin lipo is going to be enough. Be honest with yourself and keep your expectations in check. Be honest with your surgeon so they can help guide you towards a different procedure if needed. Thank you for reading, I hope it was helpful. Reading the reviews on this very site helped me a TON in making this decision, so hopefully with this writing, I can pass the kindness on to someone else. Good luck in your decision!
After five kids, two of them over ten pounds, and living with a stomach that was just saggy and wrinkly since after my first child, I was more than excited to have this surgery done, It has been two weeks so far, and I'm doing well. I was terrified of the pain and anxious about botched procedures, I guess normal pre--op fears. The pain medications that were prescribed took care of almost all of the post op pain, and I was off the narcotics within four days. Dr. Obrien and her staff are kind, not over the top fake, but caring and professional. They are first and foremost professionals and I actually calmed down after meeting with her. You just know you can trust her.
By far the best doctor I've ever met. She made me feel safe and comfortable. She was honest and explained everything. She had opportunities to up sale or offer me other things and instead she listened and was willing to do what I really wanted. I got a Breast Augmentation without a lift, Mini tummy tuck and some lipo. I chose not to have a lift because I didn't want the scars. She explained in this instance that subglandular implants would be best. She showed me other patients that resembled what I was looking to do and I felt like the end product was perfect and I wanted the same thing. She spoke to me about my concerns for a tummy tuck. I didn't want a full I felt I didn't need it. She explained to me that many people werent a candidate for this and after further examination she was surprised and said I was a perfect candidate. She also did lipo to touch up those little concerns I had in my tummy. Overall she was super professional and a great docotr. I felt 100 % comfortable the whole time. The procedure was quick and the end results were fantastic. I couldn't have asked for anything more. I would highly recommend her over and over. I will never see any other plastic surgeon but her. Her staff was equally amazing thanks so much for the great experience. Updated on 15 May 2013: So I forgot to give my stats! Sorry ladies! I am 5'8 160lbs and my implants are Natrelle 457cc. I am 7 days post op and feeling good. I got my drain out yesterday it wasn't bad either. Incision from mini tummy tuck doesn't hurt and breasts aren't sore either. The worst part was the bruising and healing from lipo. I felt this was very worth it. I would do it 100 times over. I keep looking at my before and afters and I am very satified. Even though I am still swollen I can see how much skinnier I look and the breasts make me feel normal again. Updated on 8 Jun 2013: Feel great! Started doing light workouts this last week and I feel 100%. My boobs feel huge when jogging even with two sports bra's and holding them lol. The scars under my boobs have lightened so so much this last week. They are nearly gone. My stomach scar is healing nicely too. It been getting smoother as the days go by, Overall I am very very happy with my results. I could say I would be confident to go out in a bikini and I definitely couldn't say that before. Updated on 9 Jun 2013: Updated on 29 May 2014: I absolutely love my results. Thyroid issues caused me to gain a bit of weight but boobs and tummy are still everything I hoped for. I highly recommend the doctor and I'm still loving my results.
I saw Dr. O'Brien to discuss having a breast reduction. After a process that included taking several photos of me topless and thoroughly examining my breasts (tapping, patting, lifting, measuring) and speaking to me at length about the surgery, she informed me that she would refuse to do the surgery unless I first lost 20 lbs. This is despite the fact that I've had a recent stress test, a full lipid panel and am in excellent health. In fact, one of the reasons I would like a breast reduction is so that I may exercise more comfortably. Although I am not thin, I do not overeat and I exercise regularly. I feel certain that intentionally losing 20 lbs would not be beneficial to my physical or mental health. Dr. O'Brien also took the liberty to tell me that I was at risk for various diseases. My primary care provider does not share her opinion, nor was this the reason for my visit to a plastic surgeon.
Well I am one week pre-surgery and I am starting to get extra nervous / anxious / excited. Like I said about I am 22 years old (23 in March, I am hoping my girls are ready ;)) I weight about 150, 5'4, 36DDD/e, hoping to go down to a 36C and did I mention I am excited? I have been having bad back pain for years!! I was a collegiate athlete and it was always painful but worth it to me. I loved soccer and lacrosse and wouldn't trade that experience for anything. It was rough strapping the girls down with 2 sports bras, but I managed. I have most things prepared for my surgery. I will clean the house and get all the laundry done prior. My boyfriend and mother will be taking care of me. Good luck to them ;) I get bossy when I am in pain. I am so ready for the whole thing to be over with.. I keep hearing that I have to be patient.. which I am not very patient. I hear that gets better with age..probably having kids helps with that!! haha I have had my pre-op appointment, prescriptions are in, surgery bra has been ordered, work is scheduled to take 2 weeks off.. now I wait! I am hoping to keep posting about how post-op goes for everyone out there. This has been SO helpful!!!! Wish me luck :) Now being fully developed and ready to relieve this pain - my surgery is set for Updated on 3 Feb 2015: I had my BR surgery this morning and it went extremely well. The staff was so nice and comforting. I had the anesthesia and I was out instantly and woke up feeling like it was only a second. I started crying of pure joy when I woke up next to the nurse, I could feel the difference already - I looked down! Ah, so great. I didn't feel much pain after and today, mostly pressure. I have been taking my meds regularly, so that is helping I am sure. I took a nap, but I hope I can sleep well tonight. I am headed back to the doctor tomorrow morning to check on them! Again - excited / nervous to see them!! I will keep you updated. Anyone else having your BR this week, I wish you the best!!1 xoxo Updated on 5 Feb 2015: hey everyone! I am on day 3 and still feeling pretty good. I really haven't had much pain, mostly soreness and a little itchy. I have been taking my Tylenol and oxy every 4 hours. I am feeling just a little extra tired today... I saw my PS yesterday for the next day follow up. Got a sneak peak of the new girls and I was already so happy!! Even with the swelling and bruising, I know I'm going to be so happy. She said I can shower today - probably will this afternoon. Still no nausea or no bowel movement. But I did take a stool softener... I heard that is normal tho! Love having so much support from friends and family! So far so good!!! Pics to follow.... Updated on 7 Feb 2015: Is anyone else feeling a roller coaster full of emotions? I find myself extra sensitive and emotional. I have had a few breakdowns today! I love my new boobs, of course, just taking a toll on my body.
* Healing time is worse than expected * I can see good results after 18 days * compression garment is super uncomfortable * scar from abdominoplasty is wrinkeled and unatractiveI had Liposuction on inner thighs, flanks, and abdominoplasty . It has been 18 days since my surgery. Last night, my left inner thigh began to hurt. It feels hard in some small areas along with very tender skin. Could this be a hematoma? Will I need to get this drained? Can I massage the area to help with whatever is going on?
Thank you for your question. It is an issue I discuss with all my patients who choose silicone implants. The silicone gel implants we use today don't actually leak. By that, I mean the gel filling the implant remains in place even if the external structure cracks or ruptures. Still, it is a legitimate concern to wonder how you will know if the silicone shell fails. That is why it's important, especially after a number of years, to have regularly scheduled MRI tests, which can determine if the shell remains intact. So, to answer your question, yes, an MRI is the only sure way to detect a problem.
After 5 months, implants have usually settled into place. There is a chance they will drop a bit more, but don't expect a dramatic change in appearance. A bra or something else you may wear might have a temporary effect on the position of the implants, but they will naturally settle into the former position. If you are unhappy with your breasts' appearance, you should ask your plastic surgeon about your options. It's usually best to wait at least a year after breast augmentation to undergo a revision procedure. Good luck.
I'm so sorry to hear about your accident. As others have said on this forum, it's unlikely that the fall ruptured your implants. But your first step should be to schedule an appointment with your plastic surgeon. Textured implants are designed to create a stable capsule that adheres to tissue so that they don't rotate. It's possible your fall separated either one or both implants from that attachment. It's definitely worth getting it checked out if you are concerned. Best wishes.
What you describe is expected and nothing to be concerned about. Breast implants will typically sit rather high on the chest immediately after the procedure and gradually settle during the next 6 months. Implants do descend at different times for some patients, which can be a bit unnerving. Of course, if you're concerned and need reassurance, don't hesitate to call your plastic surgeon. That's what she or he is there for.
Breast asymmetry is much more common than many women believe. Yes, your breasts are slightly different sizes, but based on the photos you've provided they do not appear tuberous. I would consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon If you're concerned about the appearance of your breasts or the areolae and nipples. The "ski slope" shape of your breasts is also normal, but cosmetic breast surgery can correct the asymmetry and reduce the size of the areolae, if that's important to you. Thank you for your question.
