Hi  The best treatment would be to have the extraction with bone graft then come back within one year and place the dental implant.  The braces to pull the 3 molars forward to close the space would throw your bite off and not be ideal.  The longer you wait to do the implant then the less likely the bone will be ideal for an implant.  Other options for tooth replacement include a bridge or partial.

Is it a veneer that has chipped?  I have successfully rebonded pieces back on lasting up to one year.  If the piece was cemented then it probably will not hold.  Ask the dentist to bond the fragment into place to hold as a temporoary until you can get into to have the veneer or crown replaced.  Good luck.
It may be better just to get in for the procedure ASAP becasue bonding does take time.  May be better and quicker to just get the tooth fixed.

To get the best match for the 2 central incisors I would recommend veneering.  The shape of the two centrals  is not exactly the same and the color is different also.  The veneers will adjust for shape, contour, color, and tooth positioning.  They will look nice and should be long lasting.  An average lifespan for a veneer is about 10-15 years but I have seen some veneers that have lasted up to 25 years. 
Bonding on the other hand will not correct the color and will correct for shape only slightly.  Bonding can last 5-10 years typically.  I have seen bonding chip after one year depending on the patient's bite.

I see from the photo that you have general spacing and crowding concerns.  Ideally I would recommend having orthodontics to correct the spacing on the upper and crowding on the lower.  The space could be bonded with resin or porcelain veners placed to offset the spacing and make the appearance of the teeth and smile prettier.
You could try the resin bonding first just to see if you like the way the teeth look.  The teeth may look too wide and not right which is why I recommend orthodontics first.  It is possible to still need bonding after the orthodontics but with the tooth in an ideal position then your results would be the best and also  have good longevity. 

It sounds like the dentist adjusted your crown and now the metal underneath the porcelain is showing.  There must be adequate tooth preparation to allow enough room for the crown materials which in this case are metal and porcelain. 

It is very difficult to make a porcelain to metal crown esthetic.  The newer all porcelain crowns are very strong and can function well even on a second molar. I make many all porcelain crowns in my office out of emax and I do not have trouble with breakage or esthetics.  You might seek a second opinion from a cosmetic dentist to see what your options are for replacement if you are unhappy and your current dentist is unwilling to work with you.
