Great question, VKMayer19! Many patients get ingrown hairs in the "shorts" area, and while the ingrown hair can be easily fixed, the brown spots inevitably last for months. At DermatologyArts, we utilize a variety of approaches to minimize ingrown hair and resultant dark spots. These include using a moisturizing version of topical antibiotics on the days before and after shaving or hair removal, using topical creams which gently exfoliate the top layers of the skin, and from time to time also using tretinoin.
