Viveve is a very safe procedure, but if a woman has concerns of uterine cancer, that should be evaluated first and foremost before having the Viveve procedure. Having said that, the Viveve procedure does not increase the risk of uterine cancer. 




RF, or radio frequency energy is different than microwave energy and has different effects and potential side effects in human tissue. Radio frequency energy, like that used in the Viveve procedure has been proven safe and effective when used properly. Unlike other vaginal radio frequency devices, the Viveve device has been engineered with smart technology that takes user error almost completely out of the treatment. Some vaginal radio frequency devices rely on the user's technique to ensure safety, whereas the Viveve device has built in safety technology.

The healing time for a Perineoplasty is about 6 weeks for most women. Prior to having sex after the surgery, a woman should have a post op exam to make sure healing is complete and the vagina/perineum is ready for sex. Some women may experience discomfort when starting to have sex again after the surgery, but in most cases this pain goes away with time. If pain persists, this should be evaluated. Injecting platelet rich plasma in the areas of discomfort can be helpful, but in rare cases pelvic floor physical therapy or even another surgery may be required to address the pain.

After the O Shot, some women may experience a temporary clitoral hypersensitivity which can last a week or two. I've been performing the O Shot for several years and none of my patients have had any long term or lingering negative side effects.

For most women, the O Shot is virtually painless. I know that sounds hard to believe, but my technique of numbing the treatment area allows for an almost imperceptible injection.

Women who've undergone hysterectomy are just as good a candidate for the O Shot as women who still have their uterus. Having said that, you want to make sure, whether or not you have a uterus, that what you are hoping to achieve can be accomplished with the O Shot. I use the O Shot to treat bladder leaking, over active bladder symptoms, diminished sexual sensitivity/orgasmic dysfunction, and lichen sclerosus (a painful and disfiguring skin condition affecting the external vulvar structures).  The O Shot is a great treatment for these issues and is safe, effective, virtually painless (numbing cream is used), and requires no down time.

I would recommend seeing a gynecologist or urologist well trained in this procedure.
