He is a great doctor and he is missed. He improved many people's looks and he was down to earth and without pretension. He was a real doctor/scientist unlike the plethora of fame hungry frauds we see on television.
My nose is exactly what I'd envisioned, no one ever knew I even did it. I did extensive research before choosing a doctor, and was very fearful of having surgery on my face. Just by describing to him what I wanted, he knew exactly what it was I was looking to achieve, he pulled the one photo out of his whole photo album of previous patient before and after pics I had been sorting through, he pointed out only one, it was that exact one I had liked. I feel I made the best decision possible in choosing Dr. Rollin. He is 'the' nose dr.
When I found out that the 2 top rhinoplasty surgeons in Beverly Hills refer their most different revision cases to Dr. Daniel I knew I had to have my surgery done by him. He specializes in female noses and has an amazing aesthetic. My nose is so pretty and natural looking. No one would ever know that I've had it operated on. He also placed a small chin implant, which I had never even thought about doing, but it really helped harmonize my profile. I highly recommend him!
I'm writing this review during day 1 of my recovery process & although my nose is stuffy and there is swelling and headaches I still know that this is the best decision I have ever made. My story is very similar to many on this site who decided to get a rhinoplasty procedure. Was teased as a kid, very insecure about my side profile, but I also grew up with breathing problems because of how small my nose was and how outwarldy the bump on the bridge of my nose protruded. I wanted a nose job since I was like 12 years old and at 24 I finally got it. My surgeon was such a solid choice for me. After a year of consultations with around 80 different doctors, I felt that my doctor has the most experience in rhinoplasty alone to be able to give me the best outcome. Out of the 80 doctors, he was one of two to tell me that he wasn't going to perform an osteotemy (break my nasal bones) d/t the fact that I already had a very narrow nasal passageway and it would restrict my breathing even more (which is a huge reason as to why I wanted to get my nose done). When I went into see this doctor I felt from the get go that he had the most experience AS A RHINOPLASTY SURGEON and was extremely passionate about noses of all types. On top of that he has written numerous medical textbooks on rhinoplasty and had several binders filled with thousand of before and after pictures that showed the work that he did. A lot of the doctors I went to see talked about how they have done "numerous rhinoplasty procedures" but when I asked for a direct number it was usually in the hundreds or they were hesitant to say. *this is a red flag** especially because the nose is the center of your face and is what can balance you face or totally screw it up. For a surgery this important it is so very nessecary to find someone who has a ton of experience doing noses. My doctor has done over 7 thousand procedures and primary rhinoplasty is his favorite to do! What really showed me he cares was what happened just before I decided to write this review. During post op they tell you that there will be oozing and drainage starting hours after your procedure once the local anastesia wears off (which there was) and in the middle of my sleep I felt some fluid coming out of my nose so I woke up. There was a lot of drainage (probably because I had turbinectomies done as well to help with my breathing) and I was freaking out because I mean.. Idk I just was. I called the office at 1:30 am to be directed to dr. Daniel himself who took the time to listen to my "issues" and then reassured me that everything we perfectly and that everything I am experiencing is perfectly normal. Seriously this gave me so much comfort and my appreciation toward his skill and professionalism as a world renown rhinoplasty specialist led me to write this review. I'm not one to ever write reviews but Dr Rollin K. Daniel definitely deserves all the praise he gets. And for those who complain about his bedside manner, lol honestly he's not rude. And if he comes off a little rude, is it worth is to throw his expertise aside because you didn't feel coddled? Just some food for thought.. Anyways, before & after pictures coming soon as soon as I get this splint taken off! Thank you again Dr. Daniel for being the best!!
My motivation is to warn others not to make the same mistake I made and go to this doctor. Don't be fooled by the fact that he is a "rhinoplasty specialist". He has his own idea of a good nose and it may not match yours. This doctor just performs "cookie cutter" noses and does not really listen to what you want. Updated on 6 Aug 2014: Dr. Daniel is both caring and a very skilled surgeon. I am very happy I chose him:)
Rarely do you find a man with such unbelievable passion for noses and such a plethora of outstanding, naturally-looking results! Tomorrow marks my 1-week since my rhinoplasty, and I could not be happier and more pleased with my new nose, and now I can't wait to share with you all how lucky I was to find this doctor, and how lucky you can be too. Dr. Rollin Daniel is *THE* best out there. He is renown all over the world for his expertise in his field and the number of quality patient results. On top of everything, the moment you walk into the office, everyone there cares about at a level that I had not experienced with any other doctors in OC. Amy and Judy are extremely professional, supportive, and helpful along every step of the way, and Dr. Daniel is a genius. Each and every one of you have changed my life forever, you are so blessed. Thank You!!
I can not say enough about Dr. Rollin Daniel, and the job he did on my nose. I had a hook nose, which looked ok from the front, but NOT good from the side. This is something I have wanted to do forever, but of course making such a major change to your face is nerve wrecking. However, I could not be more happy with my decision to go forward with the procedure, and mostly my choice of doctor. My nose looks phenomenal, I absolutely love it and could not be happier. He made it look like the perfect natural nose I should have had, and nothing about it looks like I've had "work" done. From the side my whole face looks softer, and blends together much more naturally than before. I did a lot of research on doctors, had multiple consultations with top doctors (I tend to do a lot of research), and the decision was very easy to go with Dr. Daniel once I found him. In fact EVERY doctor I met with mentioned Dr. Daniels name is some way or another in my consultations, referring to him as the master of noses, the man who wrote the text-books, and as the doctor they all learn from and go to watch his procedures. So I thought, why not go the best. That's how I found Rollin. All he does is noses, so it made sense to go with the doctor who had the most experience...practice makes perfect. And I couldn't be happier. He was honest, never tried to "sell" me on the procedure or to convince me into other revisions to my nose, had great bed-side manner and humor, and really took into account the shape of my whole face to make sure everything would be proportionate. He made me feel very comfortable. We decided to go with a "suggestion" of a slope, and he totally nailed it, it's perfect, I wish I'd done it earlier. As of today, it's only been 10 days since my surgery. The healing, bruising, and swelling were not bad at all. Even 7 days after when he took off my splint and stitches it already looked incredible. The whole experience was a fairly painless & easy considering my nose had to be broken. Additionally, his staff, both Amy and Judy, are soooo sweet and helpful. He has a great team. They have been great to work with, both pre and post-opp. If you are considering a rhinoplasty, and are starting your doctor search, I 100% recommend Dr. Rollin. You can't go wrong with him....he is the nose master.....you can even ask any other doctor about him, he's famous in the world of noses.
I wanted a thinner bridge & a more refined tip. Also, I had breathing problems due to enlarged turbinates. I've never had a really big issue with my nose; I have always liked my profile & 3/4 view, but have always wanted it to be a little thinner head-on with more of a defined tip. I've also had breathing problems resulting from enlarged turbinates. So my most important criteria in my search for a surgeon were natural looking, subtle results and experience treating breathing problems like mine. I came across Dr. Daniel's website and was thoroughly impressed. His work doesn't look like "work". No cookie cutter noses, simply improved versions of each patient's nose that are in harmony with the rest of the face. He also has experience correcting various breathing problems. When I had my consultation with Dr. Daniel I was impressed that he instinctively knew what I wanted to correct. He showed me photos of patients who had "before" noses similiar to mine & explained the procedure he used to thin out the bridge and create a more refined tip. He also assured me that he could alleviate a good portion of my breathing issues by reducing my turbinates during the procedure. I am currently 6 months post-op and couldn't be happier! **First, I CAN BREATHE! I can also smell a bit better and have found that, for the most part, I no longer need my allergy spray. It's still my nose, only SOO MUCH CUTER!! People I knew in high school have commented, "You look great, even better than when we were in school!"(They have no idea about my nose, only that for some reason I look better than before!) Updated on 23 Feb 2014: My bridge and tip healed wonderfully and look great; however, I had some alar retraction and my columella didn't "shrink up", so it ended up looking too long. I was fully ready to go back to Dr. Daniel to address these issues, but I was informed that he couldn't see me because he doesn't accept out of state patients (I had recently moved up to Oregon). I found this kind of odd, at least in my particular case as I was a previous patient. He did refer me to another surgeon, but I ended up going with a different person. (Will review soon) No change to my rating though! Just be lucky enough to live in Cali I guess! Haha!
My nose has always been crooked with one nostril smaller than the other. I had never liked my profile due to the hump on my nose and the long look of my nose. Rhinoplasty wasn't something I 'had' to do but one of those things in life that I have always wondered 'what if.' I'm so glad I took the leap to do this for myself. I had surgery on 12/14/11. My doctor is an authority on rhinoplasty and has spoken at engagements around the world this year on the crooked nose. It was important to me that the integrity of my nose stay the same so I would still be 'me.' He straightened my nose and took off the hump. Since I wasn't shortening the length, he suggested a chin implant to enhance the overall result so my chin wouldn't look so receding. The chin implant was not something I planned on and I was hesitant about a silicone implant in my chin. I don't quite like the frontal look so far as there is a lot of swelling through the nose and chin. However, I can really see the difference in my profile, a huge improvement that now I like to look at myself from the side! Updated on 9 Jan 2012: Hello all! Posted some new pics. It's 25 days post op and I'm finally starting to feel myself again. The swelling has gone down significantly recently. The bridge of my nose and chin areas still have swelling but it's amazing to see the transformation as it gets progressively better. I am taping my nose every night and it helps a great deal. I miss wearing sunglasses!! But keep my nose protected with big hats and sunscreen. Looking forward to another follow up with the doc tomorrow! Updated on 29 Apr 2012: Hi All! The time passes so slow when first recovering that it's hard to think that results will come. Then before you know it, months have passed! I am now 4 1/2 months post op and just took a photo of myself, below. Wow am I amazed at how my nose has taken such great shape. The doctor says there is still swelling that will go down and I won't see it's true result until the one year mark but boy, do I like it now. I haven't visited the site in awhile but it sure was helpful to see from other posts that good things come after a lot of rest, patience and time. It's good to reflect back on what I have been through and how far my nose has come. For any of you out there who just had surgery, if you're going through that awful period of hiding out, sleeping propped up on your back, feeling like a swollen mess and questioning what you have done - Don't! It's worth it, just hang in there!
I had primary rhinoplasty along with straightening of my nasal septum with Dr. Daniel several years ago. The main reason I had nose surgery in the first place was because I had trouble breathing through my deviated septum, and one of my nostrils collapsed when I breathed deeply or sniffed. I figured while he was in there he could fix the bump on the top of my nose and make it a little smaller. The end result is that I have a very upturned nose which isn't natural looking, AND my nasal septum is now deviated again! I also have a collapsed nostril on the same side as before. I wonder if the cosmetic part of the procedure overshadowed the functional/breathing part. As for the upturned nose, I think this is his aesthetic. If you like an upturned barbie nose, this may be the surgeon for you, but if you want a more natural look, I'd recommend going elsewhere. Also, considering the purpose of my surgery was primarily functional - to improve breathing, he failed in this area. I think he's over-hyped and overconfident (and overcharges!)
