I went back in for more smart lipo on April 10, 2019. This time I got my neck, inner thighs, outer thighs and knees done. While I was under my doctor also went over the areas I had done in November 2018 (abs, flanks, bra back fat). The last time I had smart lipo I drained A LOT so I felt more prepared this time... and of course I didn’t drain at all! My one incision bled very little while I was still in the hospital but that’s it. This time around has definitely been more painful. My legs hurt really bad. I’m glad my neck doesn’t hurt but I have an ace bandage on it for compression and it’s irritating. My abs and flanks are like nothing. I’m having a hard time bending down, sitting down, getting comfortable while laying down. Overall I’m just miserable and I am relying on pain meds to get me through. I didn’t really need pain meds last time. I had a hard time getting the marker off of my neck. I used rubbing alcohol, dish detergent, normal soap, facial cleanser and nail polish remover. I got a little desperate and saw some people used a Mr. Clean eraser so I tried it and it did work. I was very careful with the eraser and I still ended up burning my skin so I’m going to say DON’T use that.
I had lipo and smart lipo done on my abs, flanks and bra fat on my back 1 week ago on 10/19/2018. My total cost was $5,800.00 ($4,000 surgery & $1,800 for the hospital stay and anesthesia). I do not have pictures to show my before and afters but I don’t think my case was “that bad”. Updated on 27 Nov 2018: I wanted to share my experience with draining and leakage post-lipo to hopefully warn people in advance on what *could* happen. This is not to scare you but hopefully to provide you with some pointers so you don’t freak out or damage any rugs in your house. I did my research before my surgery and felt that I knew what I was in for regarding the draining that you experience after surgery. You have to drain because the fluid that is pumped into you needs to find its way out. I didn’t expect any dramatic and I wasn’t at all concerned. I figured I would be a little grossed but nothing crazy. I pulled out some old puppy training pads to line my bed with and figured it wouldn’t be a big deal. While some people might not have a dramatic leaking experience, I absolutely did and I was not prepared for it. On my 20 minute drive home from the surgery center to my house I completely soaked the back of my grey sweat pants... they were completely red. THANK GOODNESS the nurse at the center put a pad on my mom’s car seat— I highly recommend this! Once I got in the house and kicked off my shoes, I started bleeding in the garage floor. Uh oh. Nothing could’ve prepared me for what was to come after I took my pants off in the laundry room! It was a literal crime scene. Blood was pouring out of the incisions under my butt cheeks.... it was like a faucet. This went on for what felt like forever. My mom was a champ trying to clean up the floor and my legs so we could get upstairs. I leaned on the washing machine because I started to feel woozy after a while. My mom said she would’ve been scared if the nurse hadn’t just warned her that I was going to leak. Gauze was a joke on its own. After my mom was able to get my leg clean enough to apply gauze I had her cut a training pad in half and tape a piece around each thigh (with the already blood soaked gauze underneath). I laid in bed with the gauze and padding attached to me on top of brown towels that had few layers of training pads underneath. I did leak a little bit onto the towels but most of my draining happened in the laundry room. The main reason for my review is just to share some advice: 1) Wear pants that you can get blood out of or don’t mind getting dirty. 2) If you have an entrance without rug, walk in that way. If you have to walk on rug, line it with a shower curtain. 3) After you clean yourself up, tape gauze to the wounds and then wrap half a training pad around your thighs. 4) Cover the area that you’ll be resting on with towels and layers of pads. 5) Be prepared in case you’re like me and experience dramatic draining! I do not regret my decision and the experience was quite comical... my mom said it’s a memory she’ll never forget. I only wanted to warn people because I did NOT expect all of this. It was a literal crime scene! Updated on 28 Nov 2018: Sitting down with my surgical garment on is irritating. I was lucky enough to be home for a full week after my surgery because I planned it before Thanksgiving. I’ve been back to work this week and I am so annoyed! My garment is digging, causing creasing and burning my skin. I think it must be slipping too. On Monday I tried to hide the garment under my shirt but I don’t care anymore... it’s on top of my shirt and I’m wearing a hoodie around the office. Wearing the garment over clothes is a little helpful but that doesn’t stop it from feeling like it’s slipping. I ordered a Faja from Amazon on Monday and I’m hoping it will bring me some relief. I also have edema under my belly button on the right side so I hope the Faja compresses that. Updated on 2 Dec 2018: I was developing a burn and crease from the surgical binder but since switching to a faja a couple days ago the crease has gone away and I am finally comfortable. It took a couple times to get used to taking it off and on but now it’s no big deal. The faja is crotchless but I’m choosing not to use that feature. So far the decision to get the smart lipo/lipo is the best decision I ever made... I can’t wait to see how much slimmer I get. I had instant gratification on my back but I was experiencing edema on my stomach which is still present but definitely is settling down. My only regret right now is not getting this done on my thighs and buttocks area. Updated on 31 Dec 2018: I’m over a month in now and I am still very happy with my results. I’m still wearing my faja almost 24/7 by choice... I was only told to wear it for a full month but I feel more comfortable with it on. I still have a hard section under my bellybutton... it goes towards the right side and it shows most when I’m bloated (normally at the end of the day). I put on pants without my faja last week and they actually fell off! I haven’t gone back to the gym yet but plan to this week. I have another follow up appointment on January 15th and I plan to discuss getting lipo/Smart Lipo on my thighs, buttocks and knees (he likes doing it there so I’ll trust him). Overall I am still very glad I made the decision to have this done. Updated on 8 Jan 2019: The edema is going down significantly but it is still there. I notice my stomach slimming down more and more each day. I haven’t gotten back into the gym yet but I know that’s only going to make things look better. I am so happy I made the decision to have this done!
