Debated over neck/jaw facelift throughout my 60s, and consulted with various surgeons over the years. I was squeamish and fearful. Either I received too much information, too little, or was just left feeling disconcerted. Dr Chiu and Sara put me at ease and I received a highly skilled first rate experience, neck/chin facelift. Dr Chiu is a perfectionist. The surgery was surprisingly relaxed and comfortable, no post surgery pain or complication, and after just two weeks I am able to return to public. Yes, and the results are incredibly natural, not stretched and weird. A first rate experience. My advice is DO IT!
I would recommend Dr. Chiu to anyone that I could. I live in NYC but grew up in Pittsburgh and came back specifically based on recommendations for Dr. Chiu. He actually listens to what you request and considers how it will fit with your face. I could not be happier with nose and how natural it looks with my face. My recovery was flawless - I had zero bruising on my face after my rhinoplasty and I was back on work zoom calls in 10 days. Dr. Chiu and Sara are incredibly supportive throughout the process and easy to coordinate with, unlike most doctor offices. I have been seeing Dr. Chiu for several years for Botox and fillers, recommended by my dermatologist. I anxiously decided to have a lower and mid facelift and blepharoplasty last February. I am almost 9 months out and I am more than thrilled with the very natural looking results. The surgery went went well, recovery was as predicted, and results are so much better than I imagined. Dr. Chiu and Sara are quite a team. I highly recommend that you put your trust in Dr. Chiu.
Dr. Chui is a perfectionist and artist. Very skilled and knowledgeable. He has a great bedside manner. His office manager Sara is always helpful and friendly. I had a face and neck lift. I had no pain during or after the surgery. Dr Chui surgical skills have given me my confidence back. The pictures tell say it all, what a difference.
I've been seeing Dr. Chiu for many years. Always great service -- nice office, kind, caring and does a great job maintaining a natural look. Recovery from any procedure is always easy. I highly recommend Dr. Chiu for surgery, fillers, botox
At 56 I was unhappy with the loss of volume to my checks, saggy jowls, heavy upper eyelids and neck. Pre-surgery Dr. Chiu met with me several times, taking the time to explain facelift, neck rejuvenation, and upper blepharoplasty procedures and answering my questions. My surgery was May 10, 2021and went very well. Dr Chiu called to check on me the evening of the surgery and several times during the first week. I had office visits very frequently during the first 6 weeks so that Dr. Chiu could check my progress. I am 2 months post op and very pleased with the natural looking results. Dr Chiu is a gifted plastic surgeon that shows compassion and treats his patients with respect. The after picture was only one month post op. Keeps looking better and better! Dr Chiu is forthright, knowledgeable, friendly and a consummate professional.
When I was considering rhinoplasty seriously a couple of years ago it took me a while to find a surgeon I could trust and had the right credentials. I went to three surgeons, including Dr. Chiu, and found him to be the best fit. Dr. Chiu is incredibly realistic when it comes to bringing harmony to the face and took the time to explain what would work the best not only aesthetically but also for my overall health. For rhinoplasty, you want to look good but still be able to breathe normally. Rhinoplasty is his speciality and after having this procedure done by Dr. Chiu I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking this procedure. He considered my total facial structure in his renderings to give me an idea what my new nose would look like. Our goal was to take the focus away from my nose; I no longer wanted that feature to be where everyone’s eyes were drawn. Dr. Chiu does his surgeries at Upper St. Clair hospital and only has the best surgical staff working with him. I was well taken care of and was in surgery for approximately four hours. Following surgery, I was released to go home to recover. I was expecting some discomfort the first night; however, my discomfort was not from any pain but from having to sleep upright. I prescribed some pain medication but I never needed it. I suffered from ZERO bruising! Most post-op photos show significant bruising from rhinoplasty, but I did not have a single one. I was swollen, puffy, and a tad stiff for a while following the procedure but experiencing no pain. I was able to return to work less than 7 days following the procedure and very few people were able to tell I had something done due to lack of bruising. It took about one year for the results of the surgery to settle in, and Dr. Chiu did emphasize that would indeed be the case. It has been 13 months at the time of this post, and I couldn’t be happier with my new nose! It fits the rest of my face, I have full functionality (no issues breathing), and you cannot see the small incision at all. Dr. Chiu is incredibly thorough and highly skilled. What I respect most about him and his practice, though, is that he gives you realistic expectations and explains the why/how to his methods. If you are seeking natural and harmonizing results for your looks, Dr. Chiu should absolutely be at the top of your list! I also want to point out that Sara is wonderful! She makes sure you have every piece of information you could possibly need from scheduling, financing, and answers all questions promptly. I am so glad to have chosen to trust Dr. Chiu and Sara with my face! I will be a lifelong customer as I continue through life and the aging process.
Best decision of my life!! I wanted a nose job for as long as I could remember. After breaking my nose a few times playing sports, I finally decided to go to a surgeon and get my nose fixed. I’m so glad I chose Dr. Chiu! He was realistic, kind, and achieved everything we discussed. He even gave out his phone number incase I had a problem during recovery. The surgery itself was relatively painless, and I barely had any bruising or swelling. I’m now six months out of my surgery, and I am obsessed with the results. I couldn’t recommend Dr. Chiu more!
Had an amazing experience with facelift and eyelid lift with Dr. Chiu. He has an excellent bedside manner, and the procedure went well. I had minimal edema and bruising, and only required a few Tylenol post op. The results very much exceeded my expectations. Updated on 29 Oct 2020: 8 weeks post photo. So nice not to have to wear any make up. Incisions healed beautifully. I’m very glad I went ahead and had the procedure. Was not painful at all. Results are way beyond my expectations!
If you are fortunate enough to have your facial surgery done by Dr Chiu you won’t be disappointed. He will give you a beautiful yet natural look with little to no bruising and a rapid recovery. He and his wife Sara truly make your experience as smooth and painless as possible. I am thrilled with my results!
The word is still out on the concomitant use of lasers and wrinkle fillers like the H.A.'s. As long as the fillers are injected at the correct depth, and the laser you are talking about is targetting shallower areas, this is not a concern. There are many lasers out there, all of which target tissues at differing depths. The safer approach is to have your wrinkle fillers injected a few weeks after your laser procedure. Hope this helps!
With the proliferation of medical spas and the number of people who perform injections and have little understanding of the structures that lie under the skin of the face and neck, just remember that this is your face you are talking about, and the greatest deal is almost always too good to be true! I am always reminded of my experience with a CRNA (nurse anesthetist) who works with plastic surgeons and tried to cut corners to get her Botox and ended up with many divots in her face. Clearly, this was not Botox, and I have also encountered many patients" stories that are consistent with practitioners watering down their Botox. Whether the pricing is by units/zones/etc, find someone who you trust and who understands the structures underlying the skin. Some people find Botox to be a "easy" procedure. I think that, just like most cosmetic procedures, the quality of your Botox result depends on the injector. Don't short change yourself. Hope this helps!
Browlift and blepharoplasty (upper) are not mutually exclusive procedures--they can be done in conjunction. In some cases, neither procedure will address your particular problem. It all depends on proper evaluation of the eyelid/brow complex, as well as a detailed discussion of your concerns and your surgeon's aesthetic sense. In my experience, I think browlifts tend to be overutilized, and can give a surprised/startled look. On the other hand, upper blepharoplasty when performed too aggressively can make you look skeletonized, "operated", and/or unnatural (eg, kenny rogers!). Make sure you seek a surgeon (facial plastic, plastic, oculoplastic) who is not just experienced doing eyelid/brow procedures, but also has aesthetic ideals that matches yours. Hope this helps!
During a rhinoplasty procedure, structures can be altered/changed that could affect a smile, and sometimes this is desirable and planned. Having said that, I think that most likely you are still having some swelling in the area and should wait for the initial swelling to go down--don't get overly worried at this point. Finally, when I perform an external (open) rhinoplasty, I advise my patients to refrain from too much smiling the first few weeks. Hope this helps!
