For years I have yoyo'd with my weight. But no matter how much I've lost (the most was 50 lbs in 3 months), my problem areas have NEVER gone away. I can never stick to a workout/healthy eating lifestyle because I work my butt off just to have no changes. I lose weight but the gut and back rolls don't go anywhere. I'm going to have my upper/lower abdomen, waist (including posterior), and bra roll done. I want a close to flat stomach! Whenever I workout, I can shape my arms, thighs, and butt just fine. So I'm hoping with this procedure I can move on with getting fitter and feeling good in my own skin. Updated on 2 Mar 2017: Hello everybody!! Surgery day was today from 1 pm to 5 pm. I had my upper and lower abdomen done along with the waist and bra roll. I'm still numb all over the midsection . The only little pain I have is from the tape they put on the gauze. Pain in a 3/10. I have some swelling of course. I will upload pics on Friday. That's the first day I'm allowed to take off my garments and shower!!! Updated on 3 Mar 2017: Hey y'all!! It's day 1 post op! I'm a little sore, but that's mostly from the tape holding the bandages pulling on my skin. My pain is a 3/10. I have only a little itching. I've only taken 1 Norco 10 since 6am and a 500 mg Tylenol. If anything I'm just a little sleepy from the pain meds. I've been up walking around the house. I've done some laundry. My mama had been here to help me just in case but she hasn't had to do much. Drainage has been moderate but overall things are going great! Can't take my garments off anf take a shower until tomorrow. I can't WAIT!! The doctor called me last night to check on me, and his asst called me this afternoon to see how I am doing! Updated on 4 Mar 2017: So today I finally got to take a shower and wash my garments!! I was having some itching, but after taking a low dose Benadryl and taking a shower I've been fine. I haven't taken much narcotic pain medicine, mostly just a couple of extra strength Tylenol. I've been eating pretty good and that's when I take my antibiotic and arnica. I can see a clear and noticeable difference but I can't wait to see how things change over the next couple of weeks. The sites aren't draining anymore so I didn't put bandages over them. I just put my garments back on after they were finished washing. Pain is 2/10 when sitting and maybe 4/10 when I'm up doing things. Updated on 8 Mar 2017: Hello all! Going to my 1 week follow up tomorrow. I haven't taken any narcotic pain meds for days. Haven't taken tylenol since yesterday. Not a lot of pain...just soreness with position changes. I'm a little down because I don't see much change...but I'm trying to stay optimistic...its only been about a week...but still. Hopefully things will improve Updated on 9 Mar 2017: Went to my one week follow up today. I told the doctor I felt like my progress was a little slow. He agreed he felt like it would be a more pronounced difference...but from the way my skin is...he is convinced that it's just going to take me a little more time. And I trust his opinion...he is very much into what he does and wanting me to be comfortable with how I look. Plus we can't fight the facts...i saw the 7 liters of fat LOL. I guess I'm just a late bloomer. They took pictures of me..and though I thought there weren't any changes, there are some slight differences. I'm definitely smaller from the side view, just not from the front yet. And there is a decrease in size with my back rolls. I think I'm maybe just expecting to much for the first week. Also he told me before surgery that my back fat is a type of familial lipedema....which is basically fatty tissue that's mostly ends up hanging as loose skin....so even though the fat is removed it's still trying to hang around with the fluid retention. We'll see how it goes!! Updated on 11 Mar 2017: Hey y'all I'm a little over a week out from lipo with results that don't feel astounding at the moment. Did y'all do anything to help the process?? Only eat certain things?? When did you get back in the gym? I need some kind of guidance because me not being so happy with my results right now is making me want to pig out lol cause it's like well im still fat anyway lol help!!! Updated on 12 Mar 2017: Ok so I was starting to really get concerned with my progress ( yea I know it hasn't been long) only the very bottom of my stomach had gotten a little rough like an orange peel. Which is how my doctor said all my skin should get to. Now the bottom of my stomach is hard like a brick. And the orange peel feel is starting to go up further on my stomach and I'm getting a little lumpy on my back rolls...so I'm hoping this all means PROGRESS!!! Crossing my fingers! Updated on 18 Mar 2017: Hello all. I forgot to post my update from the other day. I took progress pics on day 13. Seeing some slight changes. The biggest change of noticed is my panniculus (part of my gut that hangs over at the bottom) is starting to shrink upward!! My garment is definitely too big. I have my first ultrasound massage this upcoming Thursday and that's when I'll get a smaller garment! I don't see a huge change from the side...what do y'all think?? Updated on 19 Mar 2017: ...am I the only one that looks fatter on one side than the other when I'm taking side shots??? LOL maybe I'm taking the picture in a weird way lol. And y'all I'm convinced that my back will not change. The rolls have gotten a tiny bit smaller...but they are still big ass floppy back rolls Ugh!! Updated on 19 Mar 2017: These pics were supposed to be with the last post. Took these today Updated on 25 Mar 2017: Hey y'all! I'm 23 days out after surgery. I dont even have the residual soreness anymore! I have the hard spots though, especially in the lower abdomen. I had my first dermasonic ultrasound 3 days ago. It hurt a little at first...but it felt okay after a while. I definitely softened my hard spots..but she only did my abdomen..not my back. I do have great news too!! I'm done to a large from an XL (in garmet) so thats exciting. I am seeing some improvements too.. I'm just waiting for some dramatics with my side view!!! I can't wait. Updated on 3 Apr 2017: Yesterday made 1 month...even though it feels longer lol. I still feel pretty much the same about my results...i do feel/look smaller but I just was expecting more. And yes I know...I need to be more patient lol but seriously, am I being unreasonable with my expectations? anyway here are my 1 month pics Updated on 9 Jul 2017: Here is my 4 month update. There is change...but just not enough for me. I'm trying to be snatched! I'm considering having more done. Updated on 10 Oct 2017: Hello All, Just giving a post op update with pictures. It's been 7 months. Overall I'm pleased with my results. I want to give some tidbits to those considering smart lipo...this is NOT a fix all. I gained 14 lbs after surgery because I was still eating horribly. Over the last month I've been eating better and am now 8 lbs away from my preop weight. Also...you'll notice that I have areas on the sides of my abdomen that looked a little dipped in. These are pockets that have little to no fat. If I continue to eat right and work out...I think I can handle those areas. Feel free to ask me questions about my journey. Good luck!
I have had back bra fat most of my adult life and have always hated it. As a relatively thin woman, I stayed away from form fitting tops because of the fat and wore loose clothes. The older I got, the deeper the rolls became. And then the muffin waist appeared adding insult to injury. I stopped discussing my “fat” issues with people because all I heard was “You imagining your fat, you’re thin.” I guess it was because I learned to wear clothes that disguised my issues. I tried losing weight and even got down to 118 pounds (I’m 5’5” and currently weigh 135) only to still have that stubborn back fat. I am in fairly good health and have walked 2 to 5 miles most days for the past 20 years. I eat healthy, limiting meat, fried and most processed foods. I finally decided to see what could be done. I did worry that my age would be a factor as I wasn’t sure about issues with skin elasticity. After research and another consultation with a traditional liposuction doctor, I met with Vanessa of Atlanta Liposuction. She was wonderful. Vanessa put me at ease and answered all my questions. She explained that skin elasticity is affected by many things and that age is not a determining factor. I appreciated that Vanessa did not try to hard sell me and that she gave me realistic expectations. I also liked that Atlanta Liposuction has good reviews and is known for its smartlipo procedures as well as body contouring and skin tightening. I decided to have my bra rolls, flanks, and axillary rolls done. I met Dr. Puppala during my pre-op. He was very nice and kind. He asked what bothered me the most about my body and then explained how smartlipo could help. Dr. Puppala definitely made me feel confident about proceeding and answered all my questions as well. I was given my date, signed my paperwork and given my prescription list. Now, just waiting for Monday!
