I had my rhinoplasty-septoplasty with Dr. Kelly in October of 2020. My sinuses were messed up enough to get my insurance to pay for the functional aspect but at the age of 42 my nose was getting larger and droopier. I decided to correct the aesthetics as well, which included getting a medium chin implant. Dr. Kelly corrected my multitude of internal sinus issues and also gave me an aesthetically pleasing nose. It’s rather hard to find a double board certified ENT and plastic surgeon without trekking into Manhattan. He did what other surgeons charge double and triple for. His office staff is terrific. His nurse Nikki will answer any and all questions and will put you on the right track for healing optimally. Nose jobs are intimidating for the patient but I felt I was in the best hands with Dr. Kelly and his staff. I now realize I was kind of a difficult case with the three internal functional issues and a S shaped septum. I’m so thankful I went with Dr. Kelly. I think he used every maneuver in his repertoire to get me breathing well again and looking better too.
I chose Dr. Kelly to perform chin liposuction. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I was extremely pleased with the results, in fact they were even better than I expected. The office staff was pleasant and professional. Dr. Kelly was attentive and took his time with me to ensure that all my questions were answered both before and after the procedure. I have and will continue to recommend Dr. Kelly and would definitely return to him for any future procedures I may choose to have in the future!
26 months ago, I had Juviderm injections under my eyes, & in my lips, to try & even out some bumps & symmetry which had been lost over time as a result of fat injections, ( another "myth; I had my lips done via fat in 1990, & it NEVER dissolved, just got bumpy.) All was ok for a while, but over 2 years later, both results suddenly began to change & move around for the worse. The "volume" which WAS, in my lips, has now moved WELL over the lipline, on both the top & bottom lip, giving me platypus effect, esp the upper. My eyes suddenly developed HUGE kidney shaped FESTOONS, underneath, which appeared to move around if pushed. One knows, when a substance in one's face is foreign. ONE injection round of Vitrase fixed the eye bags within 24 hours, a problem with which I'd been living with for weeks, wanting to die every morning. Now, my lips have followed, one month later, looking like someone punched me in the upper lip, & I will have to find another doctor, because the original DR refuses to believe this is from his injections. Something's happening to many of us, 24+ months after injections of Juviderm, which these doctors are in complete denial about. Women are being admitted for depression, for ruining their faces, because this problem is not being dealt with. My doctor refused to even LOOK at this site, and all the misery people are sharing, two years after injections, There is not enough known about the long term affects of this filler, and what they THINK they know, is very flawed. Updated on 24 May 2014: I have still not found a doctor to try and fix my lips. Updated on 25 May 2014: Now, about 7 weeks AFTER one very minute amount of dissolver was injected under eyes, may not look it, but great improvement. Transformation was immediate. I have a lipodystrophic very thin face, so every "bump" shows up. WE, are the ones who WANT filler in the first place, because of this very fact. My eyes "hollowed" again, bags beneath shrank a bit immediately, though they are still VERY much there, but but more residually, more from the skin that was stretched. I no longer can actually "feel" a substance moving around under my eyes. As you can see, the lips remain a disaster, lumping unevenly on top, & a deflated lower, hanging like a ducklip. Updated on 28 May 2014: My original DR Kelly has come through after all for me, & I had the first Vitrase injections in my lips today. I don't see too much difference yet, but the pressure & tightness from the edema, esp over the upper lip, feels a tiny bit less. The bottom lip seems to be "flattening" somewhat. Updated on 2 Jun 2014: It is huge, the difference. DR Kelly treated the lips themselves, but these next injections need to be above & below the lips, where it is obvious the Juvenile swell is still going on But the difference is absolute Updated on 12 Jun 2014: As if someone pricked a balloon, I'm showing my lips before and after 2 rounds of Vitrase dissolver. Updated on 25 Jun 2014: I've had 2 rounds of Vitrase in the lips. Now, the top is excessively bigger than the bottom, chronically giving me an upsidown smile-frown. I hope to god some more Vitrase in the top will do SOMETHING to improve this...The lumps, I am forever stuck with, for they are from an old fat injection. However, the swelling of the breaking down Juviderm, "pushed" these lumps lower on my top lip, covering my teeth, looking awful, and from some angles, hideous.
had some down time and didnt like the way I looked - old
I did not achieve the results I had hoped for. My advice would be to choose your surgeon extremely carefully and be on the same page as them before the procedure. I do think with the right doctor it is possible to be happy with the results. The recovery is manageable and if you are totally committed to the process then go for it.
Hey Gothamgirl - thanks for your question - nose surgery is the operation I do most and invariably with routine post-op care each week for the first 3 weeks, my patients are breathing better than they have ever breathed their whole life. Your problem could be one of 3 main problems - the most likely is that you have retained secretions and or scabs in the nose which have not been cleaned and cleared out - the second likely reason for the nasal voice and breathing issue is that during the rhinoplasty, the surgeon may have compromised the middle vault of the nose in an attempt to make the nose smaller but to the detriment of the function of the nose and the third possibility is that the lining is still swollen to a great degree. Again, the most like is that the nose needs more local attention and care - return to your surgeon and let them re-examine you and your nose - wish you the best during your healing process. Dear babybush101 - thanks for your note - I would agree with most that the definition achieved in your tip will be a combination of skin thinning and cartilage restructuring. I would not suggest rotating the tip of the nose more but simply increasing definition as described above. A natural look is vital to a nice nose - be conservative. PK
Hey Suzette501 - I will agree with the others on panel - Botox in my hands has never in 18 years created such a problem - again ensure the injector is qualified and the product used was indeed BOTOX. Each vial used has a lot number and you should ask for the lot number to confirm for yourself. The longevity of the product as you know is 3-6 months - if you have not seen resolution of the divots I would at that time consider filling the area for better symmetry. Good luck! Dear Jayha - thanks for your question - you have a very difficult problem but one that is reparable based on your description. The septal perforation repair operation and the reconstructive effort for the falling nose second to the perforation is the most difficult operation that we as Facial Plastic Surgeons do - finding a doctor with a good number of these operations under his or her belt is important. I would make no consideration for enlarging the perforation as this is counter productive and I would also suggest that the reconstructive effort entail the use of no plastic, silicone or gortex materials. Your nose is currently living in a state of chronic low grade infection - the likely hood of these previously mentioned grafts getting infected is certainly higher than if cartilage grafts (rib) are used preferentially. The art of perforation repair is slowly dying so do your homework and choose one of us who performs this operation frequently - good luck. PK (peconic-faces.com)
Dear Mermaid911- great question - using a filler in this area is definitely of benefit - it address the true reason for the aged appearance - a loss in volume - I don't think that consideration for a lower eyelid lift in your situation is a good idea - unless a fat respositioning maneuver is considered - this would of course require that you had fullness immediately under the lid which based on your photos I don't see. The Restylane or Juviderm is my only suggestion for filler here- both a form of hyaluronic acid and both reversible if need be -the filler should be placed conservatively over a 2 session injection process. The first session should get you relatively close to correction and the second about 10d later should make the transition zone between lid and cheek perfectly camouflaged. Good luck! PK
