I had allot of nerves going into this type of surgery but dr. Basa and her staff always reassured me and made me feel confident. I had my rny surgery on Dec 28 and I do not regret it I feel great! My insurance made me do allot of appointments and I needed them to get my nutrition on track with Karen her dietician and get my mind prepared. I love this doctor! Updated on 8 Sep 2023: This was incredibly helpful taking pictures and being able to see the difference. I started at 247 and I am at 172 and beyond happy with the current results. I still haven’t hit my goal weight but I’m excited to see what I look like at my one year!
Dr Basa and her team are fantastic! They are so much more than just the hands needed to have a successful surgery. They have helped me make sense of everything as I walked through all of the pre-surgery requirements, and have been there every step of the way to answer questions and provide the support I needed after surgery as well. She and her team have taken all of my doubt and anxiety away about my ability to be successful in this experience, and it has paid off in a big way! I would recommend her to anyone considering the gastric sleeve, even if you just have questions about whether or not it is the right choice for you.
Dr. Basha is an amazing doctor with great bedside manner. I first sought her out on my weight loss journey for the gastric sleeve. She took the time to explain everything to me in depth and answer all my questions. Dr. Basa made me feel comfortable and educated on my decision to go forward. After my surgery I have went to her for other body treatments to aide in my journey. She again took the time to explain everything so I could choose what was right for me.
Dr Basa is incredible! From the first appointment I had with her, she was kind and understanding and made me feel understood and comfortable. Her office staff is kind and very helpful. Almost 3 years later and I and 70 pounds down living a healthy life. I will always be thankful for her help and support!!!!
From my very first consultation appointment with Dr Basa she made me feel 100% understood and comfortable, which not many doctors can make you feel that way on the first visit. Dr Basa and her office staff go above and beyond to make sure you are prepared for the changes that come after surgery and do everything to provide you with the resources you need to be successful post-op. The day of surgery I was able to be completely calm and relaxed because I knew I was in good hands and had been well prepared. I swear Dr Basa has the magic touch because my recovery was AMAZING, I was down for 2 days and by day 3 I was feeling back to my normal self with no pain and able to continue my usual routine minus lifting anything heavy. I have and will continue to refer Dr Basa and her office to family and friends because I know she's a doctor you can trust and wants what's best for you and your health long term.
Best decision I could have ever made was choosing Dr Nicole Basa to help me with my weight loss journey. Dr Basa put me at ease and explained the risks and benefits of the surgery, which made it an easy decision. I went from 219lbs in 2019 to 148lbs and maintaining.
Dr Basa is knowledgeable, trustworthy, and will tell you how it is. Not only has she developed such a successful practice and protocol, she has the BEST bedside manner. I haven't ever loved a doctor more, i wish I could use her for everything! She truly did change my life and I wouldn't be on the path that I am now without her. She offers small to large services throughout her practice and i trust that she's hired the BEST people to represent her practice!
I am 68 years old. I have had bariatric surgery done by Dr. Basa with great success. After surgery I lost enough weight that I had loose skin on my arms. I was having to buy larger size tops to accommodate my arms. I then decided to go to Dr. Basa for liposuction and skin tightening procedures. Wow what a great way to take care of this problem without major surgery to remove this excess skin. Now I buy much smaller tops and feel great! I love Dr. Basa and her team. They are always there for me. I am even going for botox for my forehead now to get rid of those wrinkles. Love it. Thanks Dr. Basa and your great team! I absolutely love the interaction and team she has assembled!
She is so good! I had my botox done back in March and my hormone therapy at the same time! The hormone therapy is amazing! I was skeptical at first but since feeling the effects, I will continue this process! I will definitely be going back and exploring more of the other options that they have in office!
After hearing one of my friends rave about abs without working out I was sold. Everything from the greeting at the door to the treatment was great! The treatment was quick and painless and the provider stayed with me the whole time to make sure everything was okay and make conversation! I can already see my stomach firming and its only been a few weeks since my final treatment. Will definitely be going back for other aesthetic treatments they offer!!
Every surgeon is different when it comes to how quickly they progress someone’s diet after bariatric surgery. As a bariatric surgeon I used to follow that time frame you are describing and then over time allowed the full liquid phase to start earlier. The main reason why the phases are set is to prevent leak before the stomach is fully healed. It takes approximately 6 weeks to be about 85% healed at the staple line where you are out of the woods from a leak. I know that if the diet is progressed too soon the patient is tempted to progress even faster to a regular diet which could result in obstruction of the stomach pouch and then leak. Think of this time as a sabbatical from food and a time to reflect on your relationship with food. You will have your whole life to eat regular food and will not be forced to stick to this liquid diet. Hope that helps!
Based on your height and weight you would qualify for bariatric surgery. Your Body Mass Index is 47.5. A BMI of greater than 40 qualifies you for bariatric surgery with insurance. The question is if your company has elected for your insurance company to cover bariatric surgery. I would contact your HR department. In order for bariatric surgery to be effective it must be combined with diet and exercise. It is a tool to help you reset your set point which is what causes people to yo-yo and gain weight after a weight loss. It affects the hormones that control your appetite which in turn physiologically helps to reset your set point when normally your body doesn't do.
I would highly recommend a sleeve gastrectomy instead of an aesthetic procedure such as a tummy tuck or liposuction. The weight you would want to lose is mainly inside the abdomen. This fat is what's responsible to eventually cause metabolic diseases such as hypertenson, diabetes and cardiac disease. You may not have these medical problems now but will likely develop these diseases over time. Liposuction and a tummy tuck does not decrease this fat. I have a lot of patients who have had a plastic surgery procedure and then eventually come to see me for a sleeve gastrectomy or other bariatric operation. It is better to do the bariatric operation first and then possibly a plastic's procedure to remove skin. A bariatric operation is typically minimally invasive with small incisions and takes about 1-2 hours. Hope that helps!
I would first have the umbilical hernia repaired which is imperative prior to using the Emsculpt Neo which I would recommend. You can start the Neo 6 weeks after the umbilical hernia repair. I would also recommend Morpheus8 body to help tighten the skin and improve the texture of the skin.
I would wait at least 6 weeks after any abdominal surgery and longer if you have any pain at any incision site especially the umbilical site. If there is any chance you may have a hernia at an incision site you should not perform Emsculpt until that incision/hernia is repaired. If you have any questions about your incision site I would contact your surgeon.
