While precancerous cell of the vulva warrants close monitoring, it doesn’t prevent you from having the MonaLisa Touch or any laser treatment of the vagina, or even the vulva. Laser treatment hasn’t been linked to causing cancer. Some lasers has been used to treatment it. I would recommend seeing a gynecologist who can perform the laser treatment and monitor your vulva for any precancerous changes.

No one is too old to have intercourse especially if the desire is there. The symptoms you described are due to vaginal and vuvlar atrophy related to menopause. And definitely, MonaLisa Touch would work as MonaLisa Touch is FDA approved to treat vaginal atrophy, including vaginal dryness and painful intercourse. I would recommend seeing an Ob/Gyn that is experience with the MonaLisa Touch.

I am sorry that your provider decided to stop doing the MonaLisa Touch. The FDA letter was more about the marketing of vaginal laser as a “vaginal rejuvenation “ which was NOT what the FDA had approved it for. With all new technology, lasers in the hands of unqualified individuals can lead to harm. As an Ob/Gyn, my patients and I are very happy with the success of the MonaLisa Touch which I personally perform.

I am proud that you are seeking alternative ways to treat your situation. From your discription, a combination of MonaLisa Touch, vaginal estrogen and dilator will be needed to stretch and widen. Please keep in mind that a long term treatment plan will be needed to maintain all that you achieve now.

MonaLisa Touch is FDA approved for treatment of genital atrophy of menopause and should significantly improved your vulva symptoms. However, seborrheic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that requires lifelong treatment. If you have doubts, I would seek another provider who can examine you or at least request a simple vulva biopsy.
