I wanted a chin implant for the past 5+ years. I tried fillers and they helped give me the chin projection I desired, but faded after a few months. Finally I decided to pursue a permanent solution - a chin implant. I was really nervous but just went for it since I was thinking about doing it for so long. Updated on 28 Dec 2018: I got my surgery yesterday under local anesthesia. I was a little nervous about that but knew that the procedure would only take about an hour, so I felt confident I could get through it. The worst part was the numbing shots! I was prescribed Hydrocodone (Vicodin) and took one ever 4 hours following the surgery for the first day. I was in a lot of pain. Today is my first day post-op. I feel a lot better today! I slept most of the day yesterday and all through the night, waking up around 6 without pain. Eating is still a challenge - I get pain in my chin when opening my mouth at all. So today I will try not to talk and stay on a soft food diet. Updated on 28 Dec 2018: It's been just about 24 hours since the surgery. Forgot to add the pictures in my last post. It doesn't look too bad! I feel super swollen and stiff but I like what I see so far, and my pain has gone down a lot since yesterday. Can't wait to see how it looks after the swelling goes down. Check out my 1 day post-op pictures below. Updated on 29 Dec 2018: Had my surgery Thursday and today is Saturday. I can report hardly any pain (woohoo!) My swelling seems to be going down but I am still tight and have some soreness on the right side. My chin seems to be a little flat still - after post-op I had that nice curve but it seems flatter now. Hopefully that's just the swelling? Trying not to jump to any conclusions before the swelling goes down more. I did my hair and makeup to get a better idea of what I will look like. Doc said I can take the bandage off on Monday :) Updated on 4 Jan 2019: It's been a week now. Here are some photos. Overall I am happy. I do think the front looks a little flat still. We'll see what happens as the implant settles in. It's still only been a week so we'll see. I was hoping for a little more of a curve. Updated on 13 Apr 2019: It's been almost 4 months since I got my chin implant. Here's an update! Overall I'm pleased but don't think it made a huge difference. My smile looks nice (looked fine before!) but I still think I'm a little imbalanced when I have a neutral expression.
After finally getting some scans done of my nose, it was identified that I had a severely deviated septum. I have had difficulty breathing through my nose for as long as I can remember. It always felt like I was getting a pin-hole size amount of air through my nostrils, not only that, but I constantly struggled with congestion and sinus issues. I tried every treatment out there and nothing helped. The scans of my nose also identified "septal spurs." After doing a little research I learned there was a potential to also improve the migraines I have suffered from for 11+ years if the septum was corrected. Finally, my nose has also always been asymmetrical. I've been self-conscious about it for years. I figured I might as well correct the asymmetry while I was at it!
I saw Dr Villano in November 2013 to discuss what face lift procedures would be needed to lift my sagging neckline and remedy the family curse, the double or triple chin. He recommended the phenol peel. He said if we skipped the peel I would not be happy, I would look like an old lady with a facelift. I thankfully went with his plan. This is not a painful procedure per say. There is discomfort. The biggest deterrent may be the down time. It takes a long time to heal. That being said, I could go out with makeup within a month. But the actual full healing process took about six months. But it was well worth it. I truly have a peaches and cream complexion now. No wrinkles. No freckles. All sun damage is gone. I also had a brow lift at the same time, which was totally easy. I will never need Botox. My next step was a lower face and neck lift 10 months later. This was also relatively easy. I went on vacation six weeks later with a face that looks 20 years younger.
I am a woman in my 50’s who decided it was time to address my sagging jowls and neckline. I was starting to feel that I was looking like my mother and could not stand it any longer. I saw Dr. Villano and his staff for a consultation, which was a positive experience to say the least. Dr. Villano was very thorough in explaining to me which procedures I would benefit most from and answering all of my questions. Once I decided to schedule the surgery, the staff made the process so easy, I felt very confident that I was in good hands. The staff was so supportive and the surgery itself was a great success. My recovery was smooth because I followed Dr. Villano’s careful post-operative instructions. Now I am 6 months out post procedure. I look 15 years younger, I feel and look years younger and the attention I receive is priceless. I have a new found confidence that is worth every dime and can never thank Dr. Villano enough for his skill and compassion.
People at work continually commented that I looked tired, even when I had a good nights sleep. I thought that my droopy eyelids were to blame. About a month ago I had upper eyelid surgery. The results were great. I look so much fresher and awake. The results are subtle to others, but very noticeable to me. I think I look younger as a result and have not had one comment about looking tired. Thanks Doc!
After waiting to be old enough to figure it would only take one time through a corrective procedure to not ever have to do another in my lifetime, I chose Dr. Villano due to his other outstanding reviews. Good choice because - Wow! - I have a 30-years-old's jawline and neck back. The bruising was completely gone at two weeks and the swelling and numbness are almost gone. Dr. Villano is an artist with faces not just a surgeon plus he's a very nice man who really listens to you, makes suggestions for your best results and will try to work with your budget. He also has a staff of kind, caring women who attend to your every need and question and all of this along with the prettiness of the office made for an (almost) fun experience while I had my lower face and neck lift. Updated on 27 Jul 2015: Bear in mind I did not have eyes done (wearing glasses helps a lot with that problem and MUCH cheaper)
Conscious sedation can be very similar to general anesthesia. You can basically be asleep and have no recollection of the procedure afterwards. There are medications that can be placed through the IV that will give you no recollection of the procedure. Facelifts can be performed under local anesthesia without sedation, but are much less common and work better with patients who are more stoic and not as anxious. The more important question is whether you are a good candidate for conscious sedation. Poor candidates for conscious sedation are patients who are not healthy, obstruct at night i.e. snore, etc. I make the determination which sedation is best at the time of consultation.
