I recommended Dr. Gioscia to many of my friends. He was professional and very knowledgable. He explained everything to me in detail and was always patient with my questions. The Radiofrequency Ablation (VNUS Closure) procedure was relatively easy. There was minimal pain. Wearing the tights were necessary, but probably the worst part of the whole treatment. Overall, it was a great decision and was extremely pleased with Dr. Gioscia.
I was experiencing pain, bulging, swelling and tired legs. This was nothing new to me since 7 to 8 year prior I thought that I had this problem corrected, by another Dr. But truth be told it wasn't . I wish I had done my homework and researched about the previous Dr., before having him do vein closure on both my legs. I really thought that I would just have to learn to deal with the heaviness and pain that had returned. I did research thoroughly this time and find Dr. Michael Gioscia. I made an appointment and was so impressed with his mannerisms and honesty. He stated that he would do whatever he can to help me. He performed the surgery on both legs and thank God I am healing nicely and no more heaviness, swelling or bulging veins. Now I'm able to enjoy my long walks once again and to run with my grandchildren. Also looking forward to purchasing a pair of shorts ???? THANK YOU Dr. Gioscia.
I went to Dr. Gioscia for a Vnus Closure earlier this month. I am extremely happy with my results from my procedure. Dr. Gioscia made me feel comfortable and at ease before, during and after the procedure. He took the time to explain the procedure to me to ensure I understood everything. His staff was amazing and extremely tentative as well. I would strongly recommend him to anyone who has vein issues.
I have been to specialists all over Manhattan- Park Avenue, Fifth Avenue, Lexington Ave and in Greenwich, Ct. NOONE is more knowledgable, thorough & professional than Dr. Gioscia. His is the only Dr to see if you want real, safe results! he spends time with you, answers questions and has impeccable skill with vein injections and Lazer treatments. I have tried them all and dr. Gioscia is the only doctor I will go to!!
The vein you are describing and referring to in the photo appears to be a reticular vein, which, although not tortuous in nature, has become more prominent during and subsequent to your pregnancy. This is not uncommon, where the hormones of pregnancy adversely affect veins in the leg in those who are predisposed to developing vein conditions due to family history. Other factors such as increased weight and blood volume during pregnancy can further, temporarily, adversely affect the lower extremity veins. The hormones can weaken both the vein wall (estrogen) and the valves (progesterone) in the vein, which leads to venous insufficiency. These "leaky valves" are the cause of veins ranging from telangiectasias (spider veins), to the larger more prominent, darker "blue veins" (reticular veins), to the bulging, tortuous (varicose) veins. All these conditions are due to the same underlying condition- valve dysfunction- and are a matter of severity. You should seek evaluation by an expert in vein conditions and become educated about your condition, including treatment options if necessary.
I actually have posted pictures on RealSelf of facial telangiectasias treated with this technology, which utilizes Radiofrequency energy rather than laser. In my opinion, it has provided, by far, superior results to laser, and can be used on any skin tone (Fitzpatrick classifications I- VI).
Although your question for facial veins refers specifically to KTP laser, I prefer and use Nd:YAG 1064nm laser. Although both of these treatments can be effective in certain types of facial veins, and can theoretically be used on Fitzpatrick Type IV skin types, I prefer using a device that utilizes RF (radiofrequency) energy rather than a monochromatic single wavelength source of energy (laser). If you view some of the facial vein treatments I've posted on RealSelf, you can see a typical example of the results. Additionally, the results are more immediate (less recovery time), any skin type can be treated with virtually no risk to the darker skin types (NO loss of pigmentation), and risk of burn is absent.
If you developed "spider veins" after having sclerotherapy, you may have developed a phenomenon called matting, which appear as very fine veins- finer than what was present prior to treatment- and can be very difficult to improve with regards to the appearance. Alternatively, when some varicosities, or main trunks of superficial veins (eg Saphenous) are treated, superficial vein patterns can develop. These various conditions must be treated on an individual basis, by someone with extensive experience. There is no one treatment that is the "best"; usually multiple treatment regimens are used with the realization that an improved, but not perfect, result, can be obtained.
The "lumpiness" you are experiencing is due to the "trapped blood" that often occurs after sclerotherapy as well as some inflammation of the vein wall itself, although , by this time, this component is of little significance. Usually, the larger the vein, the greater the chance for this phenomenon to occur. The first visit after a sclerotherapy treatment is typically when this is recognized, and aspiration or removal is recommended. Even after 8 weeks, it is possible to aspirate whatever liquid component remains, leaving the organized (solid) component to be absorbed by the body. Compression stockings can help relieve any discomfort in the leg during the healing process, and should be worn daily until it has resolved.
