It is in your best interest to have any "mole" that is removed sent for pathology. There are Amelanotic (no pigment) melanomas that can sometimes fool you. As far as not wanting a scar, there is ALWAYS a chance of permanent scarring with any surgical procedure no matter who performs it. You could be trading one mark for another.
