For years I have struggled with uneven skin tone, acne and acne scarring. With many failed medications, I went to Dr.Bogle thinking I would need the skin resurfacing laser treatment. Dr. Bogle was so nice. She advised me against the costly laser and straight away tested my hormones by blood, she wanted to find the root cause of the problem. I did in fact have a high DHEA hormone and Dr. Bogle prescribed medication and lotions which started to clear up instantly. She told me I had rosacea and made it very clear that even if I insisted on laser she wouldn't be able to get rid of the small holes in my skin. She was very clear about what results I should expect. I went in there expecting to pay 5000 dollars for skin resurfacing and left with a solution to my problem and only paid 150 dollars for the consultation. I am returning for a chemical peel now my skin is getting better. I love this woman, she gave me back my confidence. She is definitely the skin angel. I give her 5 stars and will always go back to her for anything dermatology related..
I am still not sure how i feel about this, I had it done 4 weeks ago and I have encountered complications. All of my brown spots are gone, but about 2 weeks after I developed hundreds of blackheads all over my chin, forehead and nose. I am still treating this, so the final outcome on the procedure is not 100% ready. I will post updates. and before and after pictures.. My Doctor has been amazing, she has been very patient and has helped me thru this... I am not done with treatment yet., this is the best dermatologist in Houston! Updated on 15 Jan 2013: All of my blackheads are gone! Dr. Bogle prescribed a medication and in 4 days they have disappeared! I am so happy, my skin is still a bit pink- but I expect it to be back to normal within a week or so! The Staff at the office has been very accommodating. I am so excited to finally have flawless skin!!
I have deep acne scars. I was advised by my dermatologist to see another dermatologist that do this procedure (Fraxel Restore & Fraxel repair, I had both of them done) in Houston, TX. I did, and she told me that it would help dismiss 70% of the scars; as you can imagine I was thrilled! First, the procedure was extremely painful, and I have high pain tolerance; second, it cost me $5,000. which went down the drain; third, Dr. Bogle said that the true results will be visible in 1 year, and she will evaluate me then. After 10 months I went back to see Dr. Bogle; not only no results were ever visible, scars still remain the same, I lost $5,00.00, and Dr. Bogle refused to see me. My advice: Get the Fraxel if your skin damage is minimum Be prepared for pain during procedure Be prepared for pain (not uncomfortable) after procedure Research your doctor well. Don't do what I did. Select a doctor that is willing to stick with you for a long period of time and back up his/her work. I will never do this procedure again. Updated on 4 Jul 2018: I had the ablative fraxel for my acne scars with Dr. Melissa Bogle in Houston, TX.After several sessions of the fraxel restore with no change in my scars, I decided to go with the most aggressive fraxel.Dr. Bogle assured me that my complexion would improve no less than 70%. To those of you with acne scars you know what 70% improvement means......the world...... Dr. Bible was most attentive during the visits prior to the procedure . I had the ablate fraxel with no anesthesia ..... it hurt.... a lot ...The cost was almost $6,000.00. I looked like a burned victim.... I met with Dr. Bogle a week later and everything seemed to be going well. I went back for a second visit after two weeks, and she told me that I would not see improvement right away, that it was going to take at least 10 months for me to see the improvement. Dr. Bogle Said for me to make an appointment close to the 10 month mark and see how the improvement was progressing. I called her office a month before did 10 month mark because there were no visible signs of any improvement whatsoever, I called the office several times and she refused to see me. I finally went to the office one day (Had to take off from work ) And without her expecting me I told the receptionist I was not leaving until I saw her. I waited about two hours and she finally decided to see me, however at this time her attitude was totally different, she refused to do another fraxel, she refused to give me my money back, she refused to offer any kind of fixing to the problem, and she told me that there was nothing she could do. Needless to say, I was extremely upset. I am not wealthy by no means, and I worked very hard to save this money & have this procedure done. It amazes me how some doctors can be that money hungry, instead of tending more to their work ethics and their integrity. Needless to say, ablative fraxel did nothing for my acne scars, and it was very painful .
I'm 57 years old and have sun damage on my face. I'm not expecting the Fraxel Repair to give the same results as a facelift (I already had a lift last year). I just want to get rid of the fine lines, brown spots, enlarged pores, and some old acne scars. I have the post procedure insrtuctions but was wondering if anyone who has had the procedure refrigerated the water you used to do the vinegar soaks? Seems like that would feel good on your face and maybe help with the swelling some. Wish me luck! I'll post pictures later on.
Facial redness after Fraxel Re:Pair normally resolves in 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the intensity of your treatment and the sensitivity of your skin, but some patients may take longer. It is not at all unusual to still be red 2 weeks post procedure. I would recommend following up with your physician to rule out any reason for excessive redness, such as a secondary infection, but otherwise give it a little more time. If your skin is still red after 4 to 6 weeks, the VBeam (pulsed dye laser) should help speed resolution.
Although all patients are different, swelling typically peaks at 48 hours post injection. This means that if you have your lips injected on a Friday, they will probably look the most swollen on Sunday morning and get better from there. If you are worried about having to take time away from your work or social schedule, you can limit the degree of swelling by gently icing the area 5-10 minutes every hour or so during the first 24 to 48 hours.
The safety of Juvederm in patients with a history of excessive scarring has not been studied. I would think it would be extremely unlikely to get a keloid or hypertrophic scar from a small gauge needle injection. The bigger risk would be if you developed some other uncommon complication after injection such as an infection or an exaggerated inflammatory response. In that case, there is a chance your skin could end up forming a hypertrophic or keloidal scar. I would recommend consulting with a dermatologist experienced in filler injections who can evaluate your history in more detail.
