My practice aims to minimize scarring from cosmetic and plastic surgery by employing the best techniques and laser technology to surgery, assuring a natural look and helping you achieve your cosmetic surgery goals. In our Washington, DC practice, liposuction is one of the most popular ways to remove pockets of excess fat that diet and exercise are unable to take care of. We use traditional liposuction with Smartlipo, or laser-assisted liposuction. With laser-assisted lipo, a thin laser fiber is inserted into the fatty area through a small incision. The laser melts the fat, making it easier to extract and causing less trauma to the area. It also has the additional benefit of tightening the surrounding tissues for smoother results for a firmer, more even look than you get with traditional liposuction.

The first step in breast augmentation is deciding how you want your breasts to look. During a consultation at my Washington DC practice, we’ll work together to decide on the perfect breast size, shape, and projection for your body. Most of my patients prefer round silicone gel implants, but you’ll have a number of breast implant options to choose from. For a more subtle volume increase, natural fat transfer breast augmentation typically adds one cup size, with the added benefit that excess fat is harvested from elsewhere on the body via liposuction. If your breasts have become overly large and heavy, to the point that they’re making you uncomfortable, breast reduction surgery can remove excess tissue and reshape your breasts.

Dr. Marwan R. Khalifeh is the founder of DC Cosmetics, a boutique practice with locations in Tyson’s Corner, Virginia and Columbia, Maryland. With certifications from both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Facial and Plastic Reconstructive Surgery, he is one of the most sought-after plastic surgeons operating in the Washington, DC area. Dr. Khalifeh specializes in performing aesthetic surgery that produces minimal scarring and prides himself on achieving authentic, never “worked on” results for his patients.

Dr. Khalifeh received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee. He went on to perform a general surgery residency in the plastic surgery program at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, which has been consistently ranked as the number one hospital in the country by U.S. News and World Report. Later, he was selected to serve as Chief Resident in the plastic and reconstructive surgery program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore.

In addition to his own practice, Dr. Khalifeh stays active advancing the field of plastic surgery. He serves as an Assistant Professor and Co-Director of the Cosmetic Surgery Education Program at Johns Hopkins University in the Department of Plastic Surgery and frequently appears on various media outlets, such as Fox 5 TV in Washington DC and ABC 7, to discuss the latest advances in plastic surgery. His work has been recognized by many scientific honors and distinctions, including the Top Spear Award and Alpha Omega Alpha distinctions at Vanderbilt University and the top in-service award at Johns Hopkins.

Commissioned as a lieutenant commander, Dr. Khalifeh is also an active member of the United States Navy Reserve. He currently serves one weekend each month and two weeks each year at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center treating Navy Reserve personnel.
