You may think that if it is not sunny out there are no harmful rays, but if you can see outside then you are getting exposure. There is no need for crab walking, unless you enjoy it, to protect yourself from the sun. A good physical sunscreen re applied every 2 hours will protect you and your treated skin. Any sun exposure can hinder your treatment and/or damage your treated skin. As long as there are no open wounds or abrasions post laser treatment, a good sunscreen will suffice and let you go about your normal routine.
You can have results from a broad spectrum light treatment unless the vascular lesion is deeper and needs a more precise laser for the job. We use V beam or Gentle YAG as a way to treat deeper red vessels that have shown to be persistent. The precise red dots you describe sound like possible Cherry Angiomas and can be treated with either of the lasers stated above. You can look forward to possible bruising or darkening of the specific lesions in these areas if you treat them sufficiently after the laser session.
I have several clients who travel a lot for work or touring and they do get a good result from quarterly sessions of the IPL, Meaning they will do one every 3-4 months. In between as previously noted, it is very important to use a good sunscreen to protect you in between and especially directly before and after each session.
There is no standard treatment that can be done to re-introduce pigmentation back to the skin. Once the area has been treated and loss of pigmentation has occurred, you can only treat the surrounding areas to minimize the demarcation line between the loss of pigment in the skin and the normal skin tones. I have seen success with micro needling treatments to soften the line between the treated and non-treated areas.
