I have never heard of this procedure, in fact, I had never heard of “urgency”. I had heard of incontinence and was pretty sure that was not what I was experiencing. A very long story, short, I was experiencing extreme vaginal dryness along with extreme urgency. And I mean extreme urgency!!! I couldn’t even make it to my Dr.’s office without stopping. I was miserable. This went on for a few months. It took that long to get into my Dr. Then to a specialist. I could hold it, but I had to go all the time. I would just urinate, then the next second, my bladder felt completely full again. I had to relieve myself every few minutes.
When I finally did get into the doctor and was told about the Mona Lisa procedure for dryness, I was glad , however that was only a portion of my problem. The major issue for me was the urgency. The reviews I read, as well as what I was being told, was that it may or may not help my urgency.
IT DID AND HAS CONTINUED TO HELP! I couldn’t have been happier. I had 3 treatments spread out over 3 -4 months. I noticed a remarkable improvement after the first treatment. I could actually leave my house without the stomach pain of having to urinate all the time.
Dr. Lucaric performed my treatments. Her “bedside manner” was kind, professional, and completely put me at ease. I had no reservations about the quality of her care whatsoever.
I will continue with whatever protocol she sees fit. She states to keep up with one treatment yearly. Hopefully, that will be the regimen that will work for me.
Anyone suffering from similar issues, I encourage you to speak with your doctor about these treatments. You will not regret it.
The only downside currently is that these are not covered by insurance. This is a pity, since there is no other cure out there for this kind of suffering. The fact that there are woman, who can’t afford this, that have to suffer from these issues, is insane!!!
Updated on 18 Sep 2018:
It has been one year since my 3 treatments. Dr. Lucaric recommended after those initial round of 3 treatments, I should be okay with 1 treatment yearly. My urgency has not reoccurred and I just made my appointment for my yearly treatment. I will say there might have been a couple times when I felt like it might have been returning. I immediately used my prescription of Estrogen cream, Dr had prescribed for me earlier, and it stopped whatever it was I was feeling. I only used about 4-5 nights and stopped. This happened twice about 2 months before my appointment.
So, I would say the Mona Lisa Treatments did continue to help for the entire year. I was a bit skeptical at first that it would last this long. I am so very, very glad it did.
So, for me, the Mona Lisa treatments have been a tremendous success and much gratitude to Dr. Lucaric for her expertise and kindness.
