I underwent a mini facelift / fat transfer with Dr. Kim and the results have been truly life-changing. After a botched radio frequency treatment (Facetite) from another surgeon left my cheeks deflated and skin visibly lax, Dr. Kim’s masterful technique has addressed every issue I had. I felt comfortable going out in public in about 2-3 weeks and fully healed by two months. Scars are seemingly non-existent. I feel so incredibly blessed to have been seen and cared for by such a remarkable surgeon. Her compassion and talent are beyond comparison!
I want to start by saying the decision to get a septorhinoplasty and otoplasty was not a light one. In fact, I spent around 2.5 years having consults all over the U.S. I met with surgeons who were certainly smart and I’m sure would have done good jobs in most cases, but none of them gave me the feeling Dr. Kim did. I knew within minutes of our consult I would be choosing her and paid my surgery deposit the same day. It was not rushed and personalized to my needs and I could tell she was not only extremely intelligent, but thorough and personal, too. She explained everything from the functional and cosmetic aspects of the surgery to the measurements of my ears (something no other surgeon did). More importantly, she picked up on my slight body dysmorphia from years of being bullied and helped put into perspective that I didn’t need as drastic of a change as I thought, what was realistic for my anatomy and that the healing process would be a roller coaster. Without her preparing me properly, I think I would’ve really struggled in the first few weeks. If you’ve watched Instagram cast off videos, you might think that when you get your cast off you’ll be in love with your new nose—and you might! But you might also feel a bit unrecognizable or even dislike your immediate results due to swelling (it is trauma to your face, after all)! I fell into the latter camp. Due to how well Dr. Kim prepared me I did not panic. My nose has gone down considerably and continues to get more defined every day. People have not noticed I got a nose job, which is a good thing. When I do tell people they tell me how natural it looks which is really a testament to Dr. Kim. I still have quite awhile to go and I can tell I have a lot of swelling still, but it’s looking better every day. We are lucky to have Dr. Kim in Ohio. You don’t need to travel to California for a top notch surgeon, take it from me.
Dr. Kim is an exceptional rhinoplasty surgeon — she has an eye for aesthetics and I’m so happy with the look of my nose (I’m 3 months post-op). I did a septorhinoplasty and it’s amazing being able to breathe better now. I feel lucky to have found Dr. Kim for my surgery. Day of surgery was great and it was easy to reach the office/Dr. Kim with questions before and after surgery, wonderful experience throughout.
I am only 10 days post-op, but my entire experience with Dr. Kim at OSU was amazing. Dr. Kim was very knowledgeable and kind at my consultation. She explained the procedure and really took the time to listen to my concerns. On surgery day, I was well taken care of. Every single person I encountered was pleasant. I did have a 4 hour commute. We drove there and back home in one day (definitely do-able, I was totally fine). I did have quite a bit of anxiety surgery day. The nurses, anesthesiologist and Dr. Kim were all so understanding and patient. Pre-op went by so fast. Recovery in the surgery center was good. I didn't experience any pain or nausea. They were also quick to inform my fiance that the surgery was over. I had a cast and internal stents for a week. I didn't experience any pain. I had minimal bruising and some swelling. The recovery was wayyy easier than I anticipated. Dr. Kim was very gentle when she removed the cast and stents. It was pretty painful and I felt light headed after, but it was a quick appointment. So far, I am over the moon with my results. It's exactly what I envisioned. I couldn't have asked for a better overall experience and surgeon. I would highly recommend Dr. Kim!!!
I’m on day 3 post of of a chin implant and rhinoplasty. I know I have far to go but I can’t help but to notice how tall my chin is. I loved what filler did for my chin, with a sharper shorter look. But my implant looks somewhat flat and very tall. Not sure about the rhinoplasty yet it is too soon to tell. I do believe Dr Kim is talented from what I’ve seen of her work and she’s very kind. I just think I should of talked more with her about my preferences before hand. Updated on 23 Feb 2023: So I got my cast off and omg, I have a literally pixie nose. It’s the enchanted nose of your elven dreams. It’s so elegant. I feel so much better about it. Chin is a tad tall but for my anatomy it’s what we had to go with. Might consider a genioplasty in the future but as of now I’m just so sastified.
I had terrible breathing through one side of my nose for years. During the day it wasn't as noticeable but at night I'd have interrupted sleep from not being able to breathe and would often sleep in a position so that my face could be pushed on the pillow at an angle that would hold my mouth open so I could just breathe properly. I started using nose strips that hold your nostrils apart which helped a bit but ultimately didn't solve the problem. Dr.Kim took one look at my nose and told me it was a really badly deviated septum. She was extremely empathetic, professional, and communicative throughout. She performed my septoplasty which was my first type of any surgery ever and I felt completely at ease thanks to her. One week after the procedure, which is still early in the healing process I already feel a world's difference in my breathing.
I currently have a surgery scheduled with Dr. Kim in December! I'm super excited. I met with her two years ago and came back to finalize that I for sure wanted to do this. She is so sweet, listens to you carefully and answers any questions you have. She wants to help, she wants to make you feel good, she's realistic about things, and she's in this for all the right reasons not just for the money. I can't wait to see her again and be in caring her hands. Updated on 17 Apr 2021: Just adding some more pictures to the before. Updated on 20 Dec 2021: Feeling pretty good even though it’s only been a few days! Had surgery last Friday! Dr. Kim and her team is amazing and so sweet. They treated me very well and were extremely sweet. I loved all my nurses. The 3 hour drive and overnight stay is definitely worth it for Dr. Kim and her team. :) Updated on 23 Dec 2021: Removed my cast this morning! Super stoked about results! I love how my nose looks now(even with all the swelling), can’t wait to see how it looks over the next year. I am also happy that I can actually breathe through my nose for once! She is a life changer! Dr. Kim and her team are the best and so amazing! You won’t regret going to her! She cares about her patients and addresses all their concerns. I wanted to include photos (before/after) so I can give Dr. Kim the best review possible on RealSelf. To begin my review I wanted to mention that Dr. Kim was SO accommodating during my consultations and her patient coordinator Kelsie is incredible. I was very excited to be scheduled and Kelsie was very communicative about timing and availability while I was on the waitlist. I've seen incredible results for Dr. Kim so far and I'm someone who does a lot of research. She's the only rhinoplasty specialist in Ohio I'd trust! Bonus- follow her on Instagram, she's got incredible content. This woman can seriously do it all. I've never felt in such good hands.
Dr. Kim and her staff are top notch. I have been meaning to write this review for quite some time now. Dr. Kim performed Rhinoplasty on me, and I can honestly say that it was the best decision I've ever made (and best money I have ever spent). I have always been insecure about my nose profile and Dr. Kim understood exactly what I wanted during our first consultation. She is truly an EXPERT in her field, and you can trust that she will have your best interest in mind from the beginning. I can't say enough about how pleased I am with the transformation. I would recommend Dr. Kim to everyone and anyone I know. 10 stars (if that was possible).
My daughter accidentally crashed I to my face while on vacation and destroyed my nose. I had a crazy bump on my nose and trouble breathing clearly. After much research, I decided to set up a consult with Dr. Kim. She was wonderful. So easy to talk to and an expert at what she does. 6 months post op and my nose continues to look better and better. Dr. Kim does amazing work.
Thank you for your question. I recommend reaching out to your surgeon to confirm, but in general, it is helpful to gently use cotton-tipped applicators dipped in hydrogen peroxide to remove crusting in the nostrils after septoplasty. Keeping the nose moist with nasal saline spray as well as Ayr saline gel or Aquaphor is also very helpful during the healing period. Hope that helps, good luck!
Thank you for your great question. While the risk of arterial injection is low, the risk of complications from arterial injection are exceedingly rare in experienced hands. In other words, inadvertent arterial injections can occur, but when recognized and treated immediately and appropriately, long-term side effects can be avoided. Ways to minimize risks include microcannula approach and choosing an expert injector who injects slowly and carefully and aspirates prior to injection. Hope that helps, best of luck to you!
Thank you for your question and photos. It is normal for patients to feel that their nose looks "really fat" one week after a septorhinoplasty! Swelling will decrease substantially over the next 4-6 weeks-- so you have a lot to look forward to. By three months, approximately 90% of the swelling will be improved, but it will take at least 12-15 months for your "final shape" to take place. Hope that helps, best of luck to you!
Thank you for your question and photo. Lip fillers such as Juvederm Volbella and Restylane Silk are a great, longer-lasting treatment for smoker’s or lipstick lines/wrinkles around the mouth. You could also consider layering additional filler to build volume in your lips as well. Hope that helps!
Thank you for your question and I am sorry to hear that you are disappointed with your results. The optimal approach for your revision face/necklift would be best determined by an in-person consultation to evaluate your anatomy/current features as well as goals of care. In general, the vector for lifting the face is ideally more vertical than horizontal (regardless of deep plane or not), although this can vary somewhat based on age and anatomy. I recommend reaching out to your surgeon to discuss your concerns and/or consider seeking consultation with another board-certified plastic surgeon/facial plastic surgeon for a second opinion. Hope that helps, best of luck to you!
