So. Well I don’t even know how to start. I was so frustrated and sad about how my eye was. Well, my new Doctor had me see him once a week. After crying and panicking, all week I was resolved and had excepted the fact that I was to have one eye bigger than the other and drooping. At least I could see again and my headaches stopped because I no longer had to pull my hair tight to hold my eyes up. Well, at the end of my visit my doctor looked me straight in the face and said “it will get better, I promise”. And in one day it did! I read that chemosis and ptosis could change suddenly and it does. If anyone is having doubts about how you turned out, give it time. I’m 3 weeks post op and I know things will change more. If anyone is considering a bleph, look for someone who specializes in Oculoplastic and or facial reconstruction. My first surgery was basically a butcher job. My second was the correct choice. Updated on 2 Oct 2024: It’s been 7 months since surgery. If anything, this is a good place to vent. Although my doctor was patient, and kept telling me to be patient, i would say my results are so/so, My eyebrows are crooked and I definitely have 2 different eyes. It was worse but he at least restitched the bigger eye because it was drooping in the corner and it would hurt and be tired at the end of the day. It still really bothers me both functionally and physically. Not to mention psychologically, but I don’t think he really cares anymore. I definitely feel like an annoyance now. I guess doing a revision would mean accepting and admitting that things did not turn out correctly. I have no problem paying for my revision because I knew it was a possible complication. Yet, he last couple of times I was there, I was just getting brushed off and told how good it looks. The eyebrows I can live with, but pain and discomfort in the one eye is really bothering me. If anyone is out there reading this and can recommend a doctor who can fix my eye, please let me know. Thanks for reading.
I always wanted breast implants always was insecure about my breast. I went to Dr.Thornton told him exactly what i wanted bigger breast that yet still looked natural. Went from a 36A to a 36c I was scared about getting silicine/gel implants. So far i have almost 2 years with them. I wish i had gone a size or two bigger and a bit more rounder. He was great and the staff. I did get it under the muscle so recovery was a bit painful ... i also got pregnant about 6 months after but i was happy i was able to breastfeed the baby....I'm thinking about getting more things done but just the breast implant was a bit pricey ... sorry i have no pictures
Like most of you all I've had big breast since as long as I remember. Probably by the age of 11 or 12 I was a D cup and the cups kept getting bigger and by my late 20's I was every bit of 250 pounds. So after the birth of my daughter at age 27 I decided it was time to get healthy and lose some weight and I did. But my breasts didn't get much smaller they just traveled south. Along with shoulder, back, and neck pains I hated looking at my breasts just hang it was heartbreaking. Going bra shopping was so depressing and costly as all of you probably know paying 65 dollars for one bra was a financial headache for a single mom. So I've had a hate-hate relationship with my breasts for yrs. Now here I am at age 40 finally had the procedure done it toke about 6 months to get approved by my insurance. I have read many reviews on the website for months now to get an understating of what to expect and what I would need to buy. Y'all have been soo helpful and I have been inspired by all the love that have been shown on here. So I have some questions for anyone to answer although I'm soo happy to have it done and I feel soo much better. How long does it take for the swelling to go down? And how long will it take for them to take a round shape? I'm new to it all. Updated on 19 Aug 2014: Meltdown today! I'm soo overwhelmed with the way they look I know their still swollen but they look nothing like a breast. Praying . Updated on 26 Aug 2014: Hello everyone it's been two wks since my surgery and I'm making progress. My stiches are dissolving and the scars are looking great. I've had problems with stomach issues has anyone else? Had to go to doctor for meds. Don't know if it's something to do with the surgery or not. Excessive gas and stomach pains nauseous and headaches. I hope the meds work Bc I'm ready to be back to my old self. I hope everyone is doing great ttyl. Updated on 1 Sep 2014: Hello everyone I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday. Tomorrow will be 3 wks since my surgery and my stomach issues have gotten better but my right Breast have been causing me pain i have a hole underneath and a spot that just throbs. Anyone else had issues like this? I toke a pain pill to help with pain.
Dr. Thornton is a sweetheart. I was quite apprehensive about having to switch to him after Dr. Elliott, but now I have no worries. However, the billing department there, Anne and Heather, is something different. Insurance companies have their perplexities. There's no arguing that. But when your insurance company is lied on for non-payment, that has nothing to do with them and everything to do with billing. I've offered to help by contacting my insurance company and the billing department there to rectify anything that has been unpaid. Why? Because I want them paid just as much as they do. The continuation of my procedure(s) hinges on it. I was taken off the surgery schedule after I was adamant about helping bring my account to a resolution. That is quite unprofessional and underhanded. Especially when you're lying and I have proof of payments being made.
Hi! I have 2 daughters that are 8 years old and 19 months old. Both were born through a c section. I am 5'7" and weighed 132 pre surgery, but I had some pockets of fat that just wouldn't go away plus my tummy always looked a little bloated. I had a mommy makeover 10 days ago consisting of a mini tummy tuck with muscle repair, breast revision (changed saline implants for silicone gel), and lipo to flanks, abdomen, hips, inner and outer thighs. So far, I have felt great! The doctor used a new drug called exparal on me that they give you during surgery, and I had zero pain for the first three days except for the expected soreness from the lipo! I did get my daughter's cold about 3 days later then it developed to pneumonia since I wasn't really able to cough. I got a couple of shots and some medicine yesterday and I'm already feeling much better! The dr sent me my before pictures today, and I was so surprised to see that even tho I'm still swollen some I can see a noticeable improvement on the flatness of my abdomen. Can't wait to see my final results!!! Updated on 29 May 2014: It has been 16 days since my mommy makeover. I'm adding some new pictures today. I look great when I first wake up, but as the day goes on I swell again. Still pretty bruised up, but they're fading away a little at the time. I talked to my surgeon today, and he says that I can go back to doing cardio and light exercise so I will be back at the gym tomorrow.... I just can't do any abdominal or core exercises. I took these pics about 3 o clock in the afternoon so the swelling was in full force even in my knees and ankles which weren't operated on! Lol My surgeon says that a little exercise may actually help the swelling and bruising by getting my blood pumping and being more active. I'm sure hoping so. He said that I can just wear a compression garment for 12 hours a day, but my husband isn't home for the next few weeks anyways so I'm wearing it day and night. Part of the day I'm just wearing a spanx and the rest of the day I wear the full compression garment that the PS gave me. Let me know if anyone has any questions.... I will be glad to help in any way I can! Updated on 2 Jun 2014: Hey everybody! I don't even really know if anybody reads this stuff, but I will update it anyways. I think I'm getting a seroma. I called the PS office today and told her it feels like there is a tiny bit of water moving in my abdomen when I bend over. I can't really see it any other time, but the feeling is driving me crazy. I go on Wednesday for them to look at it and see if that's what it is. If so, I will probably have it aspirated and pray it doesn't come back. I took a pic this morning before I went to the gym so I will post it so you can see. I look great and feel great. I'm just ready for the bruising from the lipo to go away so I can wear shorts again since I just so happen to live in Missisippi where we've already been having some 90 degree days! Haha Updated on 10 Jun 2014: What does 4 weeks mean to me??? 4 weeks means no more compression garment (unless I want it, of course), 4 weeks means I can finally do ab workouts again (which I did today!), and 4 weeks means bruises are nearly gone! Hallelujah... I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. For the ones of you that read my previous post... I did have a seroma that had to be aspirated. The needle was terrifying! I couldn't feel a thing since he had numbed me with lidocaine, but just from sheer reflex I pushed his hand back which in turn pulled out the needle, and he had to stick me again. It didn't hurt at all, but the size of the syringe and needle is enough to make anybody freak out. Good thing my plastic surgeon has as good of a sense of humor as I do, so he just laughed at me while I was having my fit! Haha The seroma does have some more fluid in it now, but it isn't much at all so I'm waiting a few days to see if it gets any better on it's own. I am posting some new pics that were taken this morning at the gym after my workout. I have read a lot of posts saying that the first time they did ab workouts after a tummy tuck they had a lot of pain, but I had zero pain. I did 30 sit-ups on a decline bench and didn't tear anything apart inside my belly, so that's a plus!
The answer is definitely yes and the reasons are many. First let me say with almost any procedure there are occasional "non responders" for reasons we sometimes cannot explain. However, in the case of non surgical fat reduction, the more common reasons are as follows:1) the procedure was technically difficult and "good energy or fluence" was hard to maintain. This is sometimes due to anatomy difficulties or patient positioning issues. 2) the patient didn't actually follow the strict hydration protocol and therefore the results are not as good as would have been if hydrated appropriately (very important ) 3) the patient at times looks at this procedure as a "easy miracle cure" and continues to eat and drink in a manner that would obviate any benefit from the procedure .. One thing vanquish will NOT do is cause weight gain and we have had patients upset that they saw "no results" when their post procedure weight is higher than it was before the procedure. No procedure fixes this and believe it or not it's hard for some patients to accept and understand. We do occasionally see non responders when everything including patient selection, hydration, compliance with diet, etc and the procedure are optimized. This is uncommon but occasionally occurs and is frustrated of all involved. Lee K thornton MD MPH
Looking at the one photograph ther are several options and an in person visit with a board certified plastic surgeon would be best. One option is liposuction if the fullness in the jowl area is due to fat and not your submandibular gland. This is very targeted minimal volume liposuction with small canulas and should be done by someone experienced in this technique. Also, we have had success with Exilis, a radio frequency technology of which there are multiple units, that will tighten skin and "shrink" fat. Long term studies are lacking but it appears safe, effective, with good results requiring no anesthesia or downtime. If these techniques don't do it, then It may be time for surgery such as a mini facelift, although it appears from this picture you are not at that point yet.
