I am a 65-year-old woman who spent 40 years as a sun goddess and had a lot of sun damage. I had the laser resurfacing procedure done in early February, 2016 and it is now completely healed and awesome! To start the process, my face was covered with a numbing cream, then the doctor injected my face in several places with Lidocaine. I had no pain at all during the procedure. I was so afraid to have this procedure done because of all the scary reviews I read - all for naught. I was also terrified of how bad my face would look immediately after the procedure - also worried for nothing. Granted, it was bad enough that I stayed in the house for a week, but it wasn't as scary as I imagined. And, when it peeled, it wasn't in big sheets, but small dryish areas that gently washed away when cleansing my face. I would do this again in a flash! My skin is now incredibly soft and free of all the bumps and dark spots that my years of tanning caused. I bought 3-4 wide brimmed hats, and plan on keeping my lovely new skin out of the sun as much as possible for the rest of my life. I've also switched to a 40 sunscreen. If you're considering this procedure, discuss having the lidocaine shots. The shots are nothing to worry about, and so worth having them. Like I said previously, I had no pain.
