The recovery time for eyelid surgery can vary depending on the extent of the procedure, whether additional procedures are done at the same time, and individual healing factors. In general, I recommend taking 2 weeks off of work to be conservative, but most people will be able to return to work and normal activities within 7-10 days. Exercise and strenuous activities should be avoided for about 3 weeks.
It is normal to have bruising and swelling for the first 1-2 weeks, which gradually subsides. While patients are generally pleased with their results at their one-month visit, full healing and final results take several months to a year. Scars will continue to fade over time, and the final outcome of the surgery becomes more apparent as swelling completely resolves.

You can get natural-looking rhinoplasty results by choosing the right surgeon and communicating your goals with your surgeon. Reviewing the surgeon’s before and after photos can give you an idea of whether she can produce natural-looking results. During the consultation, communicating your goals will let the surgeon know what you’re looking for and whether they can achieve it. I personally make morphs or simulated photos of the patient during the consultation. This is a valuable communication tool that allows me and the patient to see if I understand their goals and can achieve what they’re looking for.

A well-executed facelift generally can make you look 5-10 years younger. The results and duration depend on multiple factors including your age, unique anatomy, and the surgeon’s technique. The results of a facelift won’t disappear over time, but you will continue to age. In other words, a facelift will turn back the clock, but won’t stop the clock. Ten or even twenty years after surgery, you will show less facial aging than if you had never had a facelift. You can help maintain your results by avoiding sun exposure and smoking, following a good skincare regimen, and nonsurgical treatments like Botox and skin resurfacing.

Phenomenally Skilled Surgeon
I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Riedler. After another surgeon cut and damaged several branches of my facial nerve during a facelift, I was left with a face that pulled to the left, my speech was slurred and I could not pucker my lips or drink from a straw. I would even drool if I took too big of a sip. It was incredibly difficult both physically and emotionally as I tried to work and friends asked me if I had a stroke. Dr. Riedler with her expertise as an Otolaryngologist and facial plastic surgeon stepped in to perform highly technical nerve repairs. I've had a remarkable recovery and at 6 months out I am still improving. I can drink from a straw again and my smile is symmetric. She didn't just perform a technically difficult surgery- she followed up with me multiple times and during one visit spent over 40 minutes patiently explaining what I should do and not do to achieve the best outcome. Phenomenal Facial Plastic Surgeon!
After experiencing multiple facial nerve injuries during a facelift performed by another surgeon, Dr. Riedler stepped in to perform a delicate nerve repair surgery. I am regaining facial movement and function- something I wasn't sure would be possible again and at 6 months I am still improving- she has so much skill as she is trained as head and neck surgeon and a facial plastic surgeon. You can be certain she knows where all the nerves are. Dr. Riedler didn't just provide excellent surgical care; she went above and beyond in her follow up- explaining exactly what I should and should not do for achieving the best outcome. I can't recommend Dr. Riedler enough for the outstanding care she provided for my face!
