Dr. Kevin Smith is a fantastic Doctor. He injects Botox for migraines for me and he is amazing. His technique is flawless, the injection sites are almost painless! As a Nurse, I can tell you first hand he experienced, knowledgeable, and kind. The Botox works well in diminishing the pain of a migraine. Office Staff are kind, understanding and friendly. Thank you, Dr. K Smith
Not only is Dr Smith and his staff very knowledgeable they are kind and informative. I am living in Alberta for the time being but would not let anyone else touch my face except Dr Smith. When ever I go back home to Niagara Falls my first and favorite stop is to see Dr Smith. I tell my friends and anyone that will listen about him and his team. DJ Taylor
I always hear laser was expensive.. and I didnt think I could ever afford it.. I was curious so I made a appointment. At Dr Kevin C smith clinic .. When I went to the Clinic its a very nice place the staff is very nice and answer all my questions by phone too .. The Doctor is very nice I asked about a few procedures .. he insisted I dont them .. And I only need the vein treatment.. im very pleased this doctor did not try to sell me things I dont need .. hes very friendly and knows his stuff ..His clinic does not offer Acid Peels ot any other procedures that the Doctor believe will not help his patients.. Anyways i recommend this Doctor to anyone who is thinking of LASER. . The prices are very affordable ...and the results are great .. my technician who did my face is a wonderful lady ... she kept me laughing the whole time .. it was a great overall experience .. also the laser does hurt dont let anyone say it dont .. But the results after are what is worth that few minutes of pain .. it was like tiny shocks but your face is sensative in areas and everyone is different so some may not feel it ...
I had Artefill injections in Canada (2004,2005,2006) and had a good experience. .No problems to date.
Hi everyone. I am going to have my upper Bleph this Friday. I am soo nervous. Have had hooded eyes my entire life. Finally decided to do it. My surgeon is an Occuloplastic surgeon and hoping it all goes well....I will post pictures as I go along. Reading the reviews I see that there are many positive but some negative...this will be my first experience with surgery. Love botox and fillers, but this is the big plunge for me! Updated on 15 Aug 2013: Countdown is on. Spoke with my surgeons nurse and feel much better about it all. She says I can resume exercise in one week! I am taking the Bromelain and Arnica with hopes that it helps with the healing process. Will post pics after procedure tomorrow. Cannot wait! Updated on 16 Aug 2013: All done! Painless procedure. Now I'm sore, almost a burning sensation but managed well with Tylenol and ice. Took under an hour. Love that it was done under local. He offered me an Ativan but I didn't take it. I preferred to be alert post procedure. Here's the pic... Updated on 17 Aug 2013: Day one. Feeling great. Swollen with bruising but otherwise completely pain free. Amazing really! Icing for 15min every hour as directed...using the natural meds and arnica cream..so far so good! Updated on 18 Aug 2013: Bruising starting, especially under left eye...sutures are itching but tolerable with no pain what so ever! Still icing, and sleeping with my head elevated. So far so good! Updated on 19 Aug 2013: Hard to believe that I had skin removed from my eyelids...no pain, swelling down significantly. Bruising now turning yellow. Hoping it continues this way. So happy finally did this! Updated on 20 Aug 2013: Nothing new to report, yellow bruising really evident. Slowing down on the icing now as swelling diminishing. Stitches out in three days! Updated on 22 Aug 2013: Feeling really good. Swelling down and bruises healing. Eyes itchy but sutures out tomorrow. Cannot wait! Looking forward to that first makeup application. Will have to go easy since I have never really worn eyeshadow..what with the lack of eyelids and all! Updated on 26 Aug 2013: Well, just wanted to post that it is day 10, stitches are out, bruising is gone and I am thrilled with the results! Dr Smith did a wonderful job, removing just enough so I can see my eyelids, but not too much that people would be shocked at my appearance. I can wear eyeliner and actually see it!
In the hands of a very experienced ASOPRS surgeon, how safe are fillers like restylane to enhance upper eyelid contour and hollowness after over corrected upper eyelid surgery? === Is the surgeon experienced doing THIS procedure? I would wait until the surgeon has done about 50 of THESE cases. I have read that blindness is a risk. Are there any statistics and why does it happen? === Best ask your surgeon about this. Is there any guaranteed way to have the procedure done with 100 per cent chance of blindness not occurring? === NO. Are there any other possible side effects to actual vision other than blindness? === Yes, bleeding, hematoma, infection, overfilling, unequal results etc. Best ask your surgeon. Does fat transfer carry the same risks? ===YES, equal or worse. Unlike HA fillers [Restylane, Juvéderm] fat cannot be quickly or easily reversed when things go wrong. Kevin Smith MD FRCPC Derm. The FDA only approves what a drug or device can be ADVERTISED FOR, but the FDA [and the Canadian equivalent] do not control what a drug or device is used for once it is on the market. The reason why additional perfectly reasonable indications for drugs and devices are not sought is that it can cost $10,000,000 or more [and take a number of years] to run the studies and deal with the legal hassles in order to be allowed to ADVERTISE a drug or device for a particular purpose, and in a lot of cases it is not worth it to the drug or device company to spend that time and money. The physician is responsible for what a drug or device is used for. Kevin C Smith MD FRCPC [Derm.] Niagara Falls Ontario
Allergan Canada does not use reps to teach injection technique. I am an instructor for Allergan, and physicians like me teach other physicians and demonstrate injection techniques for BOTOX®, Juvéderm® and Voluma®. For example, I will be teaching for Allergan in Halifax, Montreal, Toronto and Winnipeg over the next couple of months; and I have taught for Allergan in Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Thailand, etc etc in the past. I think that the same situation exists in the US and other jurisdictions. Kevin C Smith MD FRCPC [Derm.] Niagara Falls Ontario
BTX-A [BOTOX, XEOMIN, Dysport] can cause excessive relaxation of the forehead muscles, leading to BROW PTOSIS [drooping of the eyebrow]; and if BTX-A gets down into and relaxes the levator muscle which lifts the eyelid, your can get LID PTOSIS. There are a number of other medical conditions which can cause similar symptoms, so if the problem has persisted for three months I would certainly want to see a neurologist to have those other problems ruled out. Occasionally in older people separation of the levator muscle from the tarsal plate in the upper eyelid can cause a permanent droop of the eyelid. This is a random problem which has nothing to do with BTX-A. If that turns out to be the cause of your problem, it can be easily corrected by an ophthalmological surgeon. While it is possible that you could get a headache after BTX-A [BOTOX, XEOMIN, Dysport] injection -- for example, if the needle touched the underlying bone -- there are a number of unrelated medical conditions which could cause the symptoms you are complaining of, so if I were you I'd return to the doctor who injected you, and if necessary also see your family doctor for assessment and/or referral to a headache specialist.
