I had 330 CC saline implants put in about 15 years ago. At 37, 2 kids later, and a 60 lb weight loss, my breasts were saggy and the implant pocket was too big, so they needed to be redone. Given that I was going to be out of commission for breast list and implant replacement (350 silicone) with gala flex, I also opted for a drain less tummy tuck with muscle repair, lipo of the flanks, and lipo of inner/ outer thighs & knees as well. I was referred to Dr. Kenneth Shaheen by a few friends and 2 ob-gyns. This was big surgery (7+ hours), but I work out 5/6 days a week, have kept the weight off for over 2 years, and I’m in great health. Surgery was performed at a hospital and I stayed overnight. The nurses were in awe of how great my incisions looked and one nurse said it was the best breast lift she’s ever seen. First week of recovery was SO rough and for a moment, I was angry I put myself through all this! Post op, I rank my pain at an 8 out of 10. However, after the first week I’ve noticed significant improvement. For about 5 days, I slept a lot and tried to walk every hour for at least 5 minutes. I experienced no pain with the anchor lift/ implant replacement. I suppose because l already had implants and the muscles were already stretched. The only bothersome part is replacing the tape on the incision areas. In regards to the drainless tummy tuck, I was prepared for the worst after reading reviews and I feel my recovery is going very well. I would feel a twinge if sharp pain her and there, but the pain was manageable. The first week I wore the compression garment, with foam inserts at the abdomen, flanks, and inner thighs, which was uncomfortable and I needed assistance from my husband to put it on. At 10 days post-op, my tummy still has numbness around the incision area and my flanks remain swollen, but every day gets better. As I stated earlier, I did vaser lipo of my inner/outer thighs and knees. By far, the lipo was the worst part of recovery, specifically the lipo of the lower inner thighs (right above my knees) and knees area. I suspect it’s because I isn’t have much fat there. Overall, Dr. said he took a little bit of fat from all of areas. It’s too early to see final results, but I’m pretty sure I’ll be happy.
I went to see 3 plastic surgeons to discuss a neck lift or mini facial. All of them wanted to do a full face lift and my eyelids. Dr Shaheen was the only person who listened to what I wanted and suggested the fat grafting after looking at old pictures of myself from the past 20 years. The procedure was painless and I was home in about 3 hours total. Some swelling at day 5 that was a little obvious but other than that I went back to work at the end of the week part time. i am happy with the results and I feel I look younger or perhaps just less tired. Updated on 6 Aug 2017: Updated on 25 Sep 2018: I think the fat transfer to the cheeks has been the most lasting and significant part of my procedure. My neck is still succumbing to the relentless passage of time and gravity! I am thinking about a neck lift possibly next year.
After working with another surgeon for a year to reconstruct my breasts after a double mastectomy, I met with Dr. Shaheen. He listened to me, made excellent suggestions, and communicated very well. He is the Chief of Plastic Surgery at Beaumont, Royal Oak, and is current on new techniques and methods. My reconstruction involved many stages, and I couldn't be happier to have chosen Dr. Shaheen.
Love my rhinoplasty!! Dr shaheen really take his time with each patient and makes sure he does exactly what they ask for. He's funny & honest, he tells you what he can and cannot do. Wouldn't change this experience I'm glad I found him !:)
Hi everyone! I'm 27 years old, married with no kids, 5'3, 118 pounds and I have had a pre-op consulation where I finalized all the details for my BA surgery coming up. I'm going with Sientra high moderate profile 355cc gel implants placed under the muscle. I originally told my surgeon I wanted a full C cup but was also ok with going into a small D as well. My main goal is to look natural but busty. I want strangers to look at me and think, "Wow, she has a great rack!" rather than "Wow, her boob job looks great!" if that makes any sense. I have read up on many women's testimonies and a lot of those who have body stats similar to mine have gone with anything from 335 cc's to 450 cc's. I asked my doctor if there was any way to go with a higher implant volume and he said that the highest I could go based off my BWD is the 355 cc size. I'm worried that I'm going to end up with something really small and be unsatisfied with the results. I don't want to look fake but I do want my chest to be noticeable. Am I worrying for no reason?! Anybody else ever been in this situation? What did you end up doing? Updated on 25 Feb 2015: Updated on 25 Feb 2015: Updated on 13 Mar 2015: I'm at home sitting tight with my new twins. Doctor prescribed Celebrex instead of a narcotic because I do not do well on those pain killers. I'm in pain for but it's not too bad. Feels like I just did like 1000 pushups! Lots of tighness and pressure right now too and it hurts to move my arms away from my body. I'm just trying to hang in there because I know this pain is temporary and will be worth it when I'm all better. I will update with photos once I take my first show tomorrow. Updated on 16 Mar 2015: Well here is my first real update after surgery. Day of surgery: I woke up in the hospital recovery area feeling like an elephant was sitting on my chest even though I was barely conscious. Nurses gave me two doses of pain medicine and I fell back asleep. Finally woke up sore but the pain was tolerable. When I got home I settled into the chaise lounge I set up before hand with pillows and a blanket and rested pretty much all day. I was numb all over my chest and torso from the pain blocking medicine my doctor administered during the procedure. I started icing right away and that helped with the pain tremendously. I do not respond well to narcotics so I was prescribed only Celebrex. It took the edge off of the pain but didn't get rid of it completely. I know some women who had surgery around the same time as I did who took narcotics for pain management and they were in much less pain than me so my advice is that if you can tolerate it, go for the pain pills, at least for the first few days. Slept upright the first night and it was so hard on my back and neck. I barely slept more than an hour at a time. Day 1 post op: Not much of a change from the first day of surgery. Same level of pain. Just continued with the Celebrex and icing to alleviate the pain. Felt like every part of my upper body was sore and stiff. My doctor cleared me for showering on day one but I ended up not taking one. When I took the bra off for the first time, the weight of the implant on my chest was so overwhelming I couldn't handle it. I felt like they were going to slide right off my body. It wasn't exactly painful but the feeling of having a foreign object hanging off my body was too much to take in so I had to put the bra back on right away. It took some of the weight off my chest. The bra is super tight to the point where its painful but at that point, I felt like the tightness of the bra was better feeling than the weight of the implants. After that failed shower attempt I continued to rest and was quite miserable. Kind of started to question why I even did this in the first place and if I would ever feel normal again. Day 2 post op I slept much better my second night, only waking up a couple of times. My back still hurt like crazy from sleeping upright so I constantly moved my legs in different positions to relieve some of the pressure while asleep. Woke up to considerably less pain and I was even able to move my arms up to chest level to tie my hair into a low ponytail. Spent the day resting and felt ready to try and shower. Since I already knew what to expect when I took the bra off, I was better able to mentally prepare myself. After it was off there was a lot of weight and pressure on my chest but it was bearable, plus it felt nice to be out of the super tight bra for a bit. I tried to wash my own hair but couldn't reach the top of my head so hubby had to jump in the shower and help me out. He even blow dried my hair for me afterwards- what a keeper! The only pain I felt were occasional throbbing/zingers on the sides of my breasts and armpits and a slight burning sensation on my incisions where they were rubbing against the bra. Used some medical tape and gauze to cover the incisions so the rubbing wasn't too bad and just made sure to keep pulling the bra down so it didn't touch. My mindset was much more positive on the second day and I started to realize the pain was only temporary and would be an just old memory once I was all better and had a fabulous new set of larger breasts. Around 8 in the evening, my surgeon gave me a personal call from his cellphone to see how I was doing. I was blown away. I had 8 surgeries over the course of 2 years starting back in 2011 for colorectal issues. The surgeon was great but he never once personally called to check up on me, I only received follow up calls from the hospital. For this plastic surgeon to personally call me and check on my well being is rare from my experience and I was so pleasantly surprised. The call was brief but he answered all my questions and reassured me that I was doing fine based on how I told him I was feeling. He told me I could go ahead and start sleeping on my back. Also said to keep the bra on for support even though it was uncomfortable. He also said I should stop icing soon because it wouldn't really do much at this point. I went to bed a little bit after that and since I was so much more comfortable, I knocked out almost immediately and stayed asleep all night. Day 3 post op (today) I woke up refreshed from getting quality sleep. It was super hard to sit up without using my arms and hands to prop myself up but I managed to do it with just a little bit of pain. Its noon right now and I feel almost no pain besides an occasional zinger when I move hand or arms too fast. My incisions are a little painful but it's so minor that if I don't focus on it I feel fine. I'm feeling less stiff and sore. I even put my hair into a high ponytail which I definitely couldn't do before. Today is the first day I'm home alone without my husband around to help since he went back to work. It's scary but kind of good because it forces me to be more independent and move around more which will help me get back to normal sooner. I was able to do some light housework this morning- washing a few dishes, putting things away, folding some clothes. I plan on taking it easy but trying to do some light stretching (shoulder rolls, moving my arms up) . I'm still stiff and sore but it's much less intense than it was even just yesterday. Overall I'm feeling a thousand times better and I'm so much more optimistic. Now begins the wait for the drop and fluff to start because my boobs still look like torpedoes! Oh yeah, and on a more personal note, I know a lot of women are constipated and bloated during recovery. I'm only on celebrex and not the stronger pain medicine so I have experienced no constipation (thank goodness!). I am bloated though-big time! I look like I'm pregnant. It's gotten better since the day of surgery but I don't think I will be wearing tight fitting clothing any time soon! Other than that, I'm feeling great. I cannot wait for my breasts to start dropping and fluffing. Looking forward to seeing how I look in clothing and swimsuits!
As a certified medical esthetician, I have seen a lot of procedures done in the office of the plastic surgeons that I worked with. At 54 years of age, I had tried restylane, juvederm and botox. I tried the scultra, and I was very impressed with how it filled out the hollows of my face. I had lost about 20 pounds prior to this procedure, and of course, lost much of it in my face causing me to look older. It is well worth the money. Is there discomfort with the procedure--a little bit, but compared to childbirth, it was a piece of cake! Everyone I have seen who has had the procedure by the doctor I worked for looked much better and was pleased with the results. Much better than going under the knife, especially when filling in volume is all you need!
