Dermal fillers alone will likely not yield the lift that you desire. A lower SMAS face and neck lift is the optimal way to lift and tighten loose skin, followed by laser resurfacing for texture, and lastly, fillers to address your volume loss. Facelift results typically last 10 years while most cosmetic dermal fillers last up to one year.

Swelling is gravitational, as the swelling resolves and dissipates you will have pockets of swelling that may appear as lumps or bumps and typically resolve on there own over the next few months. The report of ringing in the ears (tinnitus) post Facelift surgery is a rare occurrence. This ringing is from congestion of the inner ear caused by intubation of the oral airway from the anesthesiologist. The tinnitus is resolved by decongestant or saline flush. The nerves are not effected, the tinnitus is a transit side effect.

The deep plane face lift incorporates all three layers, skin, fat SMAS as one unit which are lifted together. This is in contrast to the traditional facelift procedure wherein the skin and SMAS are lifted individually. The latter affords much greater control with respect to direction of pull. The SMAS lift will give you a longer lasting result. I would recommend using a US Board Certified Plastic Surgeon for this procedure. Facelifts requires expert skills and is worth spending the money for the optimal result.

The most active healing period post face lift surgery is the first 3 months, taking up to one year for full recovery. Do not be alarmed by ear placement, the ear positioning is never altered during a face lift it will soften as it heals. Having a lower face lift and lower bleph with possible pinch might be the best option to correct the loose skin you are concerned with. Scars that run on the inner tragus of the ear and behind the ear are the best option. Depending on the type of closure and skill of your surgeon, the surgical scars should heal and be virtually untraceable. Regarding the lack of volume, after your face lift fully heals you could opt for doing Sculptra Aesthetic (poly-L-lactic acid) which is a longer lasting filler that builds collagen over time, giving a gradual improvement . I am 3+ months post-op from a lower face and neck lift and lower pinch bleph. It took me years and many, many (expensive) consultations before I chose Dr. Sherwyn.
