A mommy makeover combines at least two cosmetic surgical procedures to help women reclaim their bodies after childbirth. The specific procedures you receive will depend on your personal aesthetic goals and can address multiple areas of the body. Most of the mommy makeovers I perform at my Columbus, Ohio practice include a breast augmentation and/or a breast lift, tummy tuck, and liposuction, focusing on the areas most affected by pregnancy and nursing. Sometimes, our patients will also opt for a lower body lift, to enhance the shape and tone of their abdomen, buttocks, and thighs. If long nights with your baby have left you looking tired, you may also opt for a blepharoplasty, which rejuvenates the appearance of your upper or lower eyelids. I look forward to tailoring your mommy makeover plan to your aesthetic goals, for a transformative result.

Breast Surgery

I perform hundreds of breast augmentations each year. Still, there is no “average” breast augmentation patient. Each patient I see at our state-of-the-art facility in Columbus has their own reasons for choosing to get breast implants—and I work with them to plan a procedure that best suits their figure and goals. Some patients want to restore their pre-baby body, while others hope to balance their breasts and redefine their shape, or restore volume that’s been lost over time. No matter your goals, I will help you choose the right breast implants and surgical approach for your frame, so you get the natural-looking results that you’re after. Sometimes patients want to complement breast augmentation surgery with a breast lift, to reverse the effects of aging on breasts and produce a more youthful shape. We also offer breast reduction, breast reconstruction, and male breast reduction surgery.

Abdominoplasty

49 Photos24 Reviews50 Q&A0 Offers
With age, pregnancy, or extreme shifts in weight, abdominal skin can lose elasticity, resulting in a lower-belly pooch that isn’t responsive to diet or exercise. Tummy tucks, or abdominoplasty, remove this excess skin while tightening and repairing weakened or separated abdominal muscles, helping you to achieve a flatter, well-contoured abdomen. Some patients also opt to combine a tummy tuck with liposuction, to fully contour their waist, flanks, and back. At our Columbus, Ohio practice, we also offer mini tummy tucks, which focus only on the area below the belly button and have a quicker recovery time. During your consultation, we’ll discuss your goals and I will recommend the best treatment plan to give you a slimmer, more toned silhouette.

QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Congratulations on your weight loss!  From the appearance of your photos I would definitely recommend a lift, and smooth round implants will likely be your best option to help restore some of the fullness to the upper pole of your breasts.  This can be done in a way that is very natural.  The size of your implant should be based upon in-person discussions with your board-certified Plastic Surgeon, so that you feel comfortable with the volume that you are choosing to have added to your breasts.  Best of luck to you!

I recommend following your surgeon's recommendations regarding activity after your surgery.  However, you should absolutely be able to be active and play basketball after your recovery period.  Best of luck to you!

Your questions are very good, but they are fundamental to the plan that you should be discussing with your surgeon prior to surgery.  From your photos it appears that you would likely benefit from a lift, but it may not be absolutely necessary.  The sizing of your implants can have an impact on this as well.  I recommend determining the best size to meet your volume goals with your surgeon, and then determine if a lift would help you reach your goals.

Since each rhinoplasty surgery is different, I strongly recommend following your surgeon's postoperative instructions.  I typically recommend that my patients sleep with their head elevated for the first 2-3 nights to help decrease swelling.  I also remove splints after a week in most cases.  Nonetheless, your surgeon may have reasons to recommend different postoperative care, so you should follow his or her recommendations.  Best of luck!

You appear to be an excellent candidate for breast augmentation to accomplish larger, fuller breasts, improve your symmetry, and accomplish what would appear to be a lifting effect.  Based upon your photos it does not appear that you would need a formal breast lift, but an exam in person is the best way to determine this.

You are likely still a candidate for a tummy tuck and liposuction with your Factor V Leiden deficiency.  Your history of any blood clots and the surgery that you are planning will need to be taken into account and extra precautions with anticoagulation will need to be taken, but I have done these surgeries for many patients with Factor V Leiden in the past with success.  Safety is certainly the number one priority, but if appropriate caution is taken these surgeries can usually be performed.

With the technique that you are describing there should be no reason that your surgery would affect your ability to breast feed in the future.  Best of luck to you!

It appears from your photo that it would be possible to perform a breast augmentation with implants alone, but the question is whether that procedure would meet your expectations.  In some cases my patients' expectations for the results that they seek can only be achieved with a lift as well.  A consultation with a board-certified Plastic Surgeon would help you to determine the best procedure to meet your goals.  Best of luck to you!

You appear to be an excellent candidate for a rhinoplasty.  In addition to removing the hump on the bridge of your nose, your nasal tip could be better refined and rotated up slightly.  This will give your nose a more feminine appearance and bring it into better balance with the rest of your face.  I recommend seeking out a surgeon with extensive rhinoplasty experience  who is able to show you before and after photos of other patients like yourself with similar goals.  Best of luck to you!

Based upon your photos I believe that either a one or two stage approach is acceptable.  Doing lifting and augmentation at the same time is one of the more complex  breast surgeries that we perform as plastic surgeons.  It sounds like you are doing your research.  I would recommend you choose the surgeon that you are most comfortable with.  Best of luck to you!

Wonderful experience - always leave with the best results

I’ve had a few procedures done and always leave with the best results. Dr. Wakelin and his staff are amazing and quick to help with questions and concerns. Dr. Wakelin is honest and upfront about what he can do and what results to expect. I now have my confidence back after struggling with my appearance after having twins. As I age, I will continue to see this team for “touch ups.” Confidence is important! Forever grateful for Dr. Wakelin and his team!

Breast Reduction with Dr. Wakelin - shoulder and back pain are gone

I had been dealing with shoulder pain for years and after various specialists, PT, dry needling, massages, etc. I asked if it could possibly be due to my G sized breasts on my 5'2" frame. Finally, my spine doctor agreed it could be the issue. Dr. Wakelin had already performed a tummy tuck during my hysterectomy, so I was comfortable returning to him. The consultation went well, and I explained my issue. He took measurements and said I was a great candidate. Of course, my insurance didn’t agree as their “height/weight/how much to remove” scale is very severe, and they denied my pre-authorization. Kiersten (his care coordinator) helped me battle with them for 6 months. Eventually I knew that it would be another year before I got to the peer review, so I decided to just pay out of pocket and fight with insurance after the procedure. Day of surgery was great. Dr. Wakelin came in and did his drawings and confirmed the size I wanted to be. The nurse in recovery was awesome and kept checking my pain levels and finally got them leveled out. The pain wasn’t as bad as I was expecting, everything felt very sensitive. I saw him the next day for the post op, and everything looked great. They changed out my dressing and gave me my orders for the next 6 weeks. I also had lateral chest lipo done as well and that is worse than the reduction. The most difficult part for me at first was sleeping as I’m not a back sleeper and I was uncomfortable. By a week and a half, I didn’t even need Advil during the day, just something to help at night. I’m still very swollen where the lipo was performed but that is to be expected. I’m a couple of days from the 3-week mark where I can lift and raise my arms again and I feel like I will be ready. Just need to be patient and wait for the final results. However, the shoulder and back pain are gone which is what I was most concerned about. I can’t wait to go back to exercising and shopping and be so much more comfortable!

Amazing! Exceeded my expectations (abdominoplasty/ mastopexy)

When you have friends that work in the operating room and they recommend Dr. Wakelin you go see Dr. Wakelin. He definitely lived up to his great reputation: he and his team are awesome. They were professional and made me feel comfortable, listened to what it was that I wanted to achieve, answered all my questions and gave me realistic expectations. I had a full abdominoplasty and hernia repair with flank liposuction and mastopexy with lateral chest wall liposuction. My results are amazing AND even better than I could of expected at 6 weeks postop! Despite the commitment to a healthy lifestyle after having kids my body just wasn’t the same, so thank you for giving me ME back!

Amazing breast augmentation, hernia repair, abdominoplasty & flanks lipo!

Dr. Wakelin performed a mommy makeover surgery on me which included a breast augmentation, hernia repair, abdominalplasty and lipo of the flanks and did amazing. Every question I had was answered in a timely manner and went above and beyond all my expectations of how my first surgery ever was going to go. Currently on the mend and can't wait to see the final results because it already looks amazing!

Lower blepharoplasty with fat grafting has taken years off my appearance

After looking at myself in photos and seeing how much of an impact my under eye bags had on my appearance, I decided to do something about it. I'm very happy I did. I chose Dr. Wakelin because of his experience, keen eye for detail, reputation and experience as a board-certified plastic surgeon. The procedure was easy, my first time under general anesthesia. I had a lower blepharoplasty with fat grafting. Admittedly, I looked like a took a beating due to bruising and swelling, but never was I in any pain. I made certain to follow post-op instructions and as every day passed, I looked much better. I feel like this procedure has taken years off of my appearance and I would highly recommend it if you share concerns similar to mine. I also highly recommend Dr. Wakelin at Columbus Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery.

32G to 32D Breast Reduction. My breasts are more proportionate to my small frame

I’ve always been busty. Even in my teen years I was a C/D. After having children and breastfeeding I was a 34J. After losing the baby weight I couldn’t get smaller than a G. Even with vigorous exercise. At 39 years old and my youngest child at 6 years of age I decided it was time to get a reduction. The other women that have shared their journey on RealSelf gave me the courage to take the next steps. At my consult with Dr. Wakelin he listened to my concerns and assured me that I was great candidate for the surgery. His assistants had excellent communication with me and my insurance, they made sure that insurance had as much info as possible, so it could be covered. I had medical records from my OBGYN, neurologist and physical therapist sent to his office. They made sure all the Ts were crossed and Is were dotted. The day of the surgery the nurses were excellent. Calm and reassuring. Surgery was quick but when I woke up I definitely felt nauseous. There was quite a bit of pain for me, a burning sensation. They gave me pain meds. My first few days at home were rough. I barely moved, but each day I made slow improvements. I will post pictures of the bruising and swelling. About 2 weeks post op I got a bad rash on my body. The doctor prescribed steroids which helped tremendously. Cause was somewhat inconclusive, but it was thought I had a delayed allergic reaction to the surgical topical solution. As I write this I’m 2 months post op and SO happy and grateful. Clothes fit me so much better. My breasts are more proportionate to my small frame. I highly recommend Dr. Wakelin at Columbus Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery! Scares are healing nicely, I’m sure in time they will be even better. Updated on 1 Aug 2022: Scars are continuing to fade. My size has stabilized to a 32D. My sides are numb still, I have no nipple sensation on one side. Breast tissue is soft again. Absolutely no regrets, I should of done this years ago! Buying swimwear and formal dresses is no longer an emotional event!
