I had a facelift in my early 40's which was great, but now 24 years on I have been finding myself doing a double take when I look in the mirror as my sagging face doesn't feel like 'me',so reckoned it was time to think about having the procedure again. My surgeon gave me a lot of confidence, but also made be think realistically about what can be achieved second time around, and at an older age. After careful consideration I decided to give it a go, so had my op 8th Nov.....here's how it's going... Updated on 14 Nov 2016: Feeling LOADS better today. My pain has suddenly dropped, so didn't need painkillers today (or yesterday. Washing my hair has been a big milestone. Since the second day I have been out, walking on the beach with the dog and husband. I am driving now that my neck is less stiff. Having a couple of curious girlfriends over for lunch on Wednesday so that should be fun, I wonder what they will make of it? I get my staples out tomorrow which will be great because right now they feel very tight and uncomfortable. Took a sleeping tablet last night though, as I had hardly slept since my surgery. I never take them normally, but I was just desperate for a good nights sleep. I think maybe that's why I feel better today? Updated on 14 Nov 2016: Updated on 18 Nov 2016: Feeling loads better now I can sleep and wash my hair!! I went to a department store beauty counter to get some advice on covering the bruises. The assistant was lovely. I liked the products so much I have decided to ditch all my old make-up and replace it with new Clarins products which I love. Going to my husband's school reunion tomorrow. My surgeon said he didn't think I would be recovered enough to go, but I think I will be fine.... Updated on 18 Nov 2016: So nice to be able to sleep, wash my hair and put on some make-up. As a keen horse rider, runner and hockey player, the inch of protruding labia which hung outside my labia majora was a real painful issue, and got worse the older I got. At 15, the pain of horse riding was unbareable and the constant discomfort was, in my opinion, no something I should be made to live with, so I told my mum. Being the fantastic and understanding mum that she is, she arranged a private referral to a plastic surgeon who said that, due to the severity of my case, he was more than happy to operate and made a date for two weeks time. It is now the day after surgery and I couldn't be happier already. From what I can make out, the labia minora has been cut right back so it sits neatly inside the labia majora. All of the clitoral hood has been left and I am only a bit swollen. When I woke up from my surgery, I was in a great deal of pain as it took me so long to wake up that the pain killers had worn off, however they gave me some morphine along with other pain killers and it did a fantastic job in relieving the pain. The next day I left the hospital and I am now in bed at home, where I shall stay for the rest of the week and the weekend. I would say my pain rating is about a 1 or 2 out of 10 and it's more discomfort than pain to be honest. The entire procedure had been smooth and complication free, and I am already very happy with the results. Sorry for the lack of photos but hopefully my description will give you a good enough idea of what it looks like.
