Dr. Harris is an excellent surgeon, I highly recommend him! I have had breast implant surgery, lipo in numerous areas as well as several other procedures and I have been very happy with everything!! In addition to surgery, he is also the best with fillers!! I was referred to him by Mayo Clinic over ten years ago and since he has taken years off of my appearance and has he has kept me looking at least ten years younger than my actual age, without looking fake. I will be having lipo and another surgery with him in a few months so will be posting those results along with photos .
Almost 12 years ago I had 250cc Mentor cohesive gel implants placed under the muscle. I was 49 at the time small framed at 5'1" and 95 lbs. I researched surgeons thoroughly and went to three consults prior to selecting Dr. John B. Harris in Ponte Vedra, Florida. He was previously Chief of Maxo and Reconstructive at the Mayo clinic so I had complete confidence in his skills. I also appreciated his more conservative patient approach; professional, discreet, great staff, and a top rated surgery center within his facility. Though it was made clear that I would need to replace or remove at some point in the future this is not something I focused on going into the procedure. The outcome was great; subtle and fit my petite but athletic frame well. I enjoyed many years of enjoying the clothes I could wear and really just the overall proportional look. The only drawback at the time was the chronic tug of war between my pec muscles and my back muscles - I was always tight and uncomfortable after working out. After a few years and greater focus on sports that required a stronger upper body (yoga, swimming, paddling) my pecs seemed to take over and it felt like there was less room for my implants to move. I never had any extreme side effects, mammograms were fine, and no capsular contraction but I was becoming increasingly frustrated by the trade offs between features and functionality. I liked the looked but disliked constantly needing to stretch, get massages, go the chiropractor, etc just to be comfortable training. My breasts were also firm, not hard, but kept well in place by my pecs. About 4 years ago I seriously began thinking about removal but thought it might be best to wait until I wasn't working so I put it off. In the past two years I went to three consults (again) - two more local. One was emphatic that I would not like the outcome and pretty much said she couldn't or wouldn't help me. The other was a surgeon well known for explanting primarily those that had substantial side affects due to the implants - I hadn't. In May of 2017 I made the 2.5hr drive and returned to Dr. Harris and Ponte Vedra knowing that he would be the best surgeon to give me a professional, trustable, and non-biased input on explanting. How right I was!! Dr. Harris and his great staff immediately put me at ease about my decision and the procedure. He shared that many women were removing their implants and that he expected it to be an uncomplicated straightforward procedure that, based upon the condition of my breast tissue and surrounding skin, would most likely result in an outcome I would be happy with. If I wasn't there was always the option of fat transfer down the road. The problem for me is that I don't have much available fat for harvest - it wasn't a top priority for me so I didn't consider this bad news. I went in for surgery in late August 2017 - it took about an hour and I did have drains put in though I had very little drainage and they were removed the next day. Surprisingly to all of us BOTH of my implants had ruptured - one worse than the other - but the cohesive gel was contained with the capsules. No way of knowing the cause specifically but I strongly belief it was the pressure of the pec muscles constantly pushing on the implants when I worked out. Dr. Harris was very thorough in cleaning all the gel out of the capsules and did not remove the capsules given they were thin and healthy. To his point "not all capsules are the same" and now I understand directly how the condition of the capsule drives the need to remove. When you are thin and small chested (32A pre implants) its helpful if you can leave the capsule in. Every person is different but I'm glad they remained possibly providing a little volume - my recovery time was very quick - I never took the pain killers (just Advil) and gradually got back into my various athletics within two weeks. Most importantly I feel TERRIFIC! Funny no one has noticed and those that knew I was having the procedure think I look better. No more muscular warfare, I can hug full-on versus the side hug or top chest only hug self consciously wondering if those I hugged felt my implants. All these thoughts are gone - and best of all I totally love the look!!! I'm proud and confident of just being natural and though I truly have no regrets in experiencing a 32C I think a 32A looks best on me. Updated on 16 May 2018: Nine months post implant removal and still could not be more happy with my decision - Thanks Dr. John Harris of Ponte Vedra, Florida!!!
I had a full tummy tuck in april and was so happy with the results that I am more than ready to finish off the look with some new boobs!! I am a 34 year old mother of two who is ready to have my body back!! I am 5'3 110 lbs. From what I hear the tummy tuck is a much harder surgery to recover from so I'm not really nervous about the boobs. At my consult I had a huge grin on my face the whole time. I am using the same PS so I am already comfortable with him and his staff!!!Updated on 4 Oct 2012:Well I am a week out for surgery. Of course I developed a cough and have been getting massive headaches. I only have a few more days of taking medicine for the headaches and then I have to stop for the surgery, so hopefully I don't get any more. The cough just sucks. As long as I dont have a fever they will still procede. I had a cough after my tummy tuck and I thought I was going to die!! Hopefully if I cough after BA it won't be as bad. I had my preop yesturday with the nurse and all that went fine. It turns out he ordered 4 different sizes to choose from with the 4th being even larger!! I hope thats a good sign since I don't want to have size regrets. I only need to fill one RX since I have everything left over from the TT. Oct 10th will be exactly 6 months from my TT (April 10th). I plan on cleaning the house this weekend since I am working up to the day of surgery!!Updated on 11 Oct 2012:Day after surgery and doing ok. I wound up 380cc. My cough hasn't been a problem. It doesn't even hurt when I cough. I was a little queezy after but got through it. Eating better today just really thirsty and soo tired. Pain pills make me so tired which I think is a good thing. I go back today to see the doc. I will update later!Updated on 12 Oct 2012:Still doing ok as long as I'm on my pills. My PS squeezed my breasts yesturday and I thought I was going to die it hurt so bad. I have to go back today and get one of those straps to wear. I noticed my tummy looks swollen. Has anyone else had that problem? I'm already doughting the size. They dont look that big to me :(Updated on 13 Oct 2012:I'm down in the dumps today. I'm actually wondering if I should have done this in the first place. I'm so sore and tired, the strap is so uncomfortable. My back and neck ache. I'm in a bad mood and my kids are driving me crazy and its not their fault. I'm an idiot to think this was going to be so much easier than a tummy tuck. My stomach is also puffy and I hope thats from the boobies. :(Updated on 15 Oct 2012:Well I saw the doctor today and I got the ok to sleep on my side, take a bath, drive and increase my activity. I still have to wear the horrible strap, but my implants have dropped some so I guess it's worth it. I was also shown how to squeeze my implants twice a day. Overall I am feeling better physically and mentally :)Updated on 24 Oct 2012:Today I am 2 weeks post op. I am still wearing the horrible strap. I have to go back to work next week and hopefully hide it. I wear scrubs so hopefully I can hide it. I don't see my PS until Nov 5 and I am hoping he'll tell me I can stop the strap. I did develop a reaction to the glue they use on the tape. Last sunday night I was so itchy and the next day at my appt they took the tape off and it was solid red and a little raised. My incisions were inframammory. I am only using tape so the redness will go away. I have some new bruising forming which I was told was ok. I also have alot of pain on my left side, low under the armpit, basically the very edge of the implant. Tylenol seems to help yhank goodness since it can really hurt sometimes and the pain is very constant. I was told it was also normal. He said by digging around in that area more preserved nipple sensation which I have plenty of so I guess thats good :)Updated on 5 Nov 2012:Well today I got the all clear to do everything. No more strap, sleep without a bra, lie on my stomach, push ups and wear any bra. I am so glad I don't have to wear the strap anymore. I developed a horrible rash from it so I am soooo itchy. My right breast is a little higher than the left but hopefully it will catch up. I was shown a different way to massage them. I can feel a bubble on the right and was told I'm feeling the implant since the skin is thin there and I will always feel it. That kinda sucks. Has anyone else experienced that?Updated on 19 Nov 2012:So I went to VS yesturday and they measured me at a 32DD! I couldn't believe it. They must run small because I don't think I am that big. In a cheaper bra from kohls I am wearing a 34C. What do you guys think?Updated on 20 Nov 2012:Speaking of VS bras, I'm thinking of returning mine. I think they are so uncomfortable! I think my boobs are close together and it seems like the edge of the underwire is poking into my boobs. But then again, maybe they need to drop more. Anyone else have this problem?Updated on 17 Dec 2012:I am two months and a week out and loving the boobies. I still wish they were bigger sometimes, but I can't complain since I look like the pictures I showed my PS. I can also feel the implants alot and I wonder if I went bigger if I would feel them even more. I don't think they have changed much from 1 month to two so I was wondering if they are done dropping and even fluffing????
I am 34 yrs old 5'2" 110 lbs. After my second child I couldn't get my tummy back in shape. It was so bad I had 8 different people think I was pregnant! Since I was done having kids I decided there was no reason not to get my body back!! Since I am only 3 months PO I know I still have some healing to wait for but I am already thrilled with my result. Updated on 10 Sep 2013: Just thought I would post a picture of my scar!
Botched. he left me botched. I noticed this immediately and he continued to tell me it would take years to heal properly. his office has charged me thousands more for fillers to try to correct his mistakes. he has left me scarred and scared of plastic surgery. I had a symmetrical nose before. his office has not returned my calls. I would not give this man a star, but I have to for this to be posted.
Hi, Thank-you for your question. I suspect by the time you are reading this, the lighter area of discoloration has resolved. The lighter color is likely due to less blood flow in the immediate area of the needle stick. This may be due to temporary spasm or constricting of the small blood vessels in the area, or just the volume of the Botox injection causing a local tightening of the tissue that keeps the blood from flowing normally in that area. Less blood in your area of injection equates to a lighter color. All is quite normal and should resolve in hours. This is less common if your injector uses a smaller volume of saline to reconstitute the Botox-in other words injecting less volume, or a higher concentration of Botox in the syringe. Hopefully all is well at this point.
