After two c-sections I knew that I would never be able to have a flat stomach. I had recently lost weight and then regained it, but honestly, when I lost the weight my stomach was still hanging and ugly. I knew then that a tummy tuck was my only option. After researching, I decided on Nuremberger Klinik here in Nuremberg, Germany. Dr. Gunter and Dr. Baetge informed me that a lipoabdominoplasty would be necessary to truly get the results I wanted. I had the surgery, and spent five days in the hospital, as that is standard care at the Nuremberger Klinik, with 24 hour nurse care. This was a very invasive and intense surgery, using VASER liposuction and abdominoplasty. I slept in a recliner for a month following surgery (no exaggeration), and it took 6 weeks until I was fully standing up. My doctor said he removed 4 kg of fat, which is nearly 10 pounds. He was very proud of my case. It was a long recovery with some medical difficulty, including a little necrosis at the site of one of my drains. It hurt. A LOT. More than my two C-sections, easily. It was an 8/10 on the pain scale, no kidding. My doctors saw me daily for the first two weeks, as that was the care they said I required. They then saw me once a week for the next month, and once a month for the first four months. During my healing, I used a silicone strip across the length of my scar, and I used Bio Oil and Palmer's Body Oil with Rose Hips for about three months following surgery, and on and off after that. I also used a medication two weeks before surgery and two weeks after called Curetin (not sure if available in the US). My doctors were thrilled at my progress. Pictures don't lie. I have nearly no scars where the side scars are. Prior to surgery my entire lower abdomen was covered in faded stretch marks. I have only about 1 inch by 3 inch patch of stretch marks remaining now. I have a tummy I NEVER had in my entire adult life. Even after moderate weight gain after a year, I am still happy with my results. Updated on 11 Jul 2017: I decided on minor scar revision because although my results were almost perfect, the incision line was affected by the minor case of necrosis at the tension midpoint beneath the navel. I had this incision at the skin/fat layer only last week, and the results are perfect. I have a tiny, perfect scar now. My stomach looks amazing. I will keep you updated with pictures when the bandages are removed next week. Updated on 19 Jul 2017: Okay, so I had a scar revision on 4 July, and I think it looks pretty good but it is still bandaged.
Hello, everyone. I am writing this review because I have been so grateful to the advice and personal experiences provided by all the rest of the realself reviews on rhinoplasty. I am in Nuernberg, Germany and have chosen a doctor who gave me an absolutely amazing result on a former surgery. I am seeking a septorhinoplasty from the Nuernberger Klinik in Nuernberg, Germany. I trust Dr. Baetge, an extremely talented and experienced surgeon with a specialty in facial surgery, and so I know he will be able to provide me with a beautiful result. He speaks English very well and communicating my desires to him was easy. Dr. Baetge has a wonderful bedside manner and my past experience with him has shown me how carefully he cares for his patients and how passionate he is about creating a quality result. He will be assisted by Dr. Dr. Guenter, who is also extremely talented and who speaks English perfectly. I am not nervous, as I believe I would be with other surgeons. I am excited, although not about the inevitable black eyes!Updated on 11 Jul 2017: Okay, last Tuesday I had surgery here in the Nuernberger Klinik in Nuremberg, Germany. The accommodations were amazingly lovely--like a posh hotel. I was greeted and asked to change into my medical robe. The anesthesiologist gave me some sort of sedation in my arm that made me feel drunk. After this, I was whisked away to surgery with two excellent surgeons: Dr. Baetge, and Dr. Guenter. I awoke to Dr. Guenter telling me that I have a cute little nose now. I was wheeled back to my room, and I wasn't in any pain. I am not saying this was a painless procedure: my bones were fractured, my septum straightened and tip work was done. In all, it was a three-hour surgery. The drugs were pretty good, and so I never felt any real pain, just pressure. I had a roommate who was very nice and we chatted, bemoaning our current states, and looking forward to our future selves. I drifted in and out of sleep, as I stayed overnight in the clinic after rhinoplasty, which is standard at the Nuremberger Klinik. The most difficult part of my journey up until this point has been sleeping. In the morning, I was given a high dose of vitamin C intravenously, and Dr. Guenter and Dr. Baetge came by to check on my progress and also to pull the foam packing out of my nose ( a gross and weird feeling). Soon after answering my many questions, my husband and children picked me up. My children were quite frightened of my looks and it took some convincing to prove I was not a zombie. My face continued to swell, although I applied black tea compresses, and took my prescriptions as required. I bruised so much. See for yourself. I slept on the couch to ensure no damage to my face. However, over the course of the week I often had really bad neck pain, to where I could not turn left or right easily. I attribute this to sleeping nearly upright for so many nights. I haven't slept deeply or for long yet. Today I had a very short appointment where my cast was checked to ensure it was still tight. I did not get the seven-day reveal here in Germany as I have seen in so many other places. Perhaps the doctors feel that having the cast on reminds us to be careful---or perhaps it was the amount of surgery I endured. Anyway, much to my dismay I will be wearing this thing for another seven days. So--I am pretty much trapped inside. I am healing, with little congestion or other problems besides these huge bruises.Updated on 19 Jul 2017: Updated on 19 Jul 2017: Updated on 19 Jul 2017: Day 15 since surgery
