Skilled, no nonsense professional. Don't expect hand holding or a lot of after care calls from office. Doesn't create inflated expectations. Top researcher as well. Results were not better than but in line with expectations- tightened with some residual small sagging. Recovery was fairly quick.
Dr. Friedman is an incredibly talented doctor. I’m 14 days post op from a tummy tuck, breast augmentation, and Lipo and I couldn’t be happier with the results even at this early stage of recovery! His staff is top-notch. Excellent customer service. Dr. Friedman is so funny-he’ll absolutely make you laugh and might even catch you off guard sometimes with his humor but, he put me at ease and made me feel completely comfortable discussing all of my concerns.
I had a tummy tuck with extended incision and lipo to hips and outer thighs with Dr. Friedman. I love my results, I’m only 8 weeks post op but couldn’t be happier. Dr. Friedman is amazing at what he does, he truly wants the best for you and your surgery outcome. He told me to get other consults before making my decision, I didn’t, I knew after leaving my appointment I wanted him to do my surgery.
Thank you to everyone who posted on Real-Self because this was a HUGE help to me while making the decision to remove my breast implants and researching the available options. Nobody can guarantee what the breasts will look like after explant w/o replacement or lift but the information on Real Self was invaluable so I decided to share my story and photos with the hopes of helping someone else in their journey. Growing up, I had always been uber-skinny, athletic and flat chested and lived with all the comments about it, which made me even more self-conscious about my figure. All I wanted was to fill out strapless dresses and other outfits while also looking more sexy and curvy than the boyish stick-figure I had at the time. I had two different BA surgeries going from A to B to full C. Both procedures involved under-the-muscle silicone implants with the first being in 1989 when I was 27 years old and again in 2004 at 42 years of age, after having babies in 2002 and 2003. Since the first set of implants was 15 years old, I wanted to replace them and decided to go up in size from a B to a C. My husband actually tried to talk me out of going up to the C size because of my small frame. I didn’t listen to the advice and I went up in size and regretted that decision because they were too large for my small frame. However, it was good to remove the first set because the PS discovered during the surgery that one implant had ruptured but was contained without any symptoms. With the larger C cup, I was very self-conscious that I could no longer wear some of the cute outfits as when I had A and B cup sizes. I felt like all that you could see in photos were my boobs and they visually added at least 10 pounds on me as well as made me look more matronly (older!) or in some cases just made me look trashy. I’m a mom and I don’t want to portray a sleazy image either! There is a fine line between sexy and sleazy and I had to choose my outfits carefully. After having the second set of implants for over 14 years, I finally investigated having them removed and had to make a decision about whether to explant with or without smaller implant replacement. I really did not want to maintain implants anymore but had no idea what I would look like w/o implants at all since I had them for almost 30 years!!! That was also a scary thought… I met with Dr. Friedman (who had performed an abdominoplasty on me in 2009) and we discussed the options, pros, cons, etc. After lots of discussion and research, I opted for explant without a replacement or a lift. The surgery was performed last week on October 16, 2018. Dr. Friedman put a drainage tube in each breast to prevent fluid build-up in the empty pockets and which helps with recovery. Those stayed in for 6 days so it was kind of hard to shower and dress for a while. I was so nervous about removing the gauze the day after surgery to take a peek at my new, small chest but I am sooooooooo happy with the results!! I cried happy tears!!! I think my boobs look like they probably would be if I had never had implants at all!!! I’m back to an A cup and back to being my YOUNGER ME!! I don’t regret getting implants because that was just a point in my life at the time but I am so happy with the results of having them removed! I’m actually more excited about having them removed than I was anticipating having implants put in 30 years ago! Unexpected bonus: Prior to the surgery, I had been suffering from low back pain (mostly my left hip) for years and thought it began during my pregnancies, the strain on my back at the time and that the stress never really went away. The hip pain eventually sometimes led to plantar fasciitis and sciatica, which is super frustrating to someone who is athletic and active because it can be debilitating and I don’t sit still very long! I met with orthopedic surgeons off and on, had MRI’s to make sure I was ok structurally and ended up having physical therapy to work through the painful times. I had massages frequently - not for guilty pleasure but for therapy and pain relief! The week before my breast surgery, I tweaked my back and was in so much pain that I could hardly walk. It was also painful to stretch but my hip flexor muscles locked up when I didn’t stretch so I was concerned about being sedentary during my recovery. Massages with me face down weren’t going to be an option just after surgery! I did everything I could to avoid rescheduling my surgery so I had deep tissue massages every day, acupuncture, cupping and saw a chiropractor just to get some relief so I didn’t limp into the hospital on surgery day. All that therapy did provide some relief to get me to the big day. Fast forward to the surgery and recovery: when I woke up from anesthesia, I had no more hip pain and have been pain free for a week. I can’t prove it but the heavy breasts on my small frame may have been putting too much stress on my back, causing the pain I had for years, especially getting the larger implants after having babies so I never got the connection that the breast implants could be related to my lower back issues. If this is the case, then the surgery has not only made me feel better aesthetically but has been life changing on many levels and I’ll be happy to not have that back pain anymore!! In summary, I am so happy with how my breasts look post-op!! It’s liberating to be free of implants! Thank you Dr. Friedman and staff!! Also, thanks to my hubs for supporting me in this decision! (Photos include day before, day after and week after surgery)
I had this surgery to reduce chronic pain in my shoulders and back after a year and a half of physical therapy failed to ease the pain. It was well worth it. Dr. Friedman is the best plastic surgeon in Houston and he has done an excellent job that exceeded my expectations. My surgery was performed in record time so I was under anesthesia for 4 hours rather than an anticipated 6 hours. My pain management doctor said she had never seen such a clean surgical incision and scar before on a reduction mamaplasty. D. Friedman was referred to me by his peers from other specialties.
I decided to do fraxel on my back which had severe acne scaring from my teen years. The procedure was not painful, though it felt tingly and prickly, like someone poking my with a sharp roller brush, not the rubber-band snap feeling you get from laser removal. I will post updates as I heal; I was told 4-6 weeks to see any results. Given the amount of scaring I may need multiple treatments.
I have always had a small chest and have wanted implants since I was 18, I am recently married and my now husband asked that I wait till after we were married to get them... So here I am after a month of marriage I'm getting my boobs! Finally! Updated on 5 Jun 2012: Surgery Pushed up to July 5th, which is a Thursday... Slightly worried about post-op! I have to be back at work Monday and am unsure if that will be enough time off, any thoughts? Updated on 23 Jun 2012: Less than 2 weeks! Nerves are starting to set in, and now more people have found out and I feel judged because of my decision...mi have to remind myself those that matter don't mind and those that mind don't matter! I went and bought my first sports bra since junior high!! I actually bought two- a large and a medium, I also bout another warm zip up jacket that I can wear day of surgery... I'm trying to find one of those pillows with the back and it looks like it have two little arms, I think that will definitely come in handy! Friday(29th) I go for my pre-opnso I'm hoping my doctor and I are on the same page with size! Updated on 29 Jun 2012: Went for my pre-op appointment today...nwent very well however, I am a little surprised! I originally was thinking in the 325-350 range and the doctor has picked 286 and 304 cc's. I am very confdent in my doctor and trust his opinion, however I was expecting a little bigger! My left breast sits slightly higher than my right and he said in order for him to get the correct width and not emphasize the difference I height I should stay with a moderate implant rather than a high profile and the higher in cc's I go he would have to do a high profile in order to get the correct width! Any thoughts? 6 days til the big day! Updated on 5 Jul 2012: 5:10 am headed to the hospital! I don't think that it has really hit me yet, maybe when he's marking me it will set in? I can't wait to be done with surgery so I can have my diet dp!! I don't drink coffee but diet dp is for sure my vice so I have a nice headache.. Ugh! Before I left the house I set everything up but my meds next to the recliner and set my bed up with pillows! I hoping everything goes smoothly with the surgery! Also has anyone read the 50 shades of grey... Just started yesterday and am hooked.. Glad I will have some down time to read! The next time I post I will finally have my boobs... Hopefully!! ;) Updated on 6 Jul 2012: Well 1st day with my new boobs.. They're a little smaller than expected but 265 cc was the biggest he could fit, hey anything bigger than what i had is better! I am feeling pretty good today just very sore! I stayed in the hospital last night because I was so sick from anesthesia, I threw up till 10 last night and was finally able to keep down jello, sprite and crackers! This morning was the first time I had pain meds since recovery room and when I'm just sitting here I'm comfortable just getting up is uncomfortable, but not unbearable! Can't wait for them to soften and settle in so I can really see what they look like, but overall definitely worth it! Updated on 15 Jul 2012: Ten days post-op, overall the whole process has been so much easier than I could have imagined! My surgery was on Thursday the 5th and I was able to return to work on Monday, yes I was tender and sore but it was nothing unbearable. I did take the norco at night just to help me sleep because I am not used to sleeping propped up or on my back... Advice to everyone make sure to take a stool softener whether you think you need It or not, that was my mistake and having to deal with that was worse than the surgery itself! I am still wearing the surgical bra and they have me also wearing the strap across the top.. I have tried on a few bathing suit tops and some sports bras and am beyond happy... In reality people will always think they could be bigger but I would rather them look at me and wonder if I have implants rather than 'for sure' 'know' that I do :) Updated on 18 Jul 2012: Post-op went great, they said no more strap and I can wear a regular bra just no underwire! They look great good to me, I can't wait till they soften a little because they seem a little to firm! Overall I am very happy with my decision and my doctors decision on size! Updated on 22 Jul 2012: So I'm a little over 2 weeks post- op and overall feel great... The whole experience has been much easier than I would have ever imagined! I do feel they could maybe be a tad bigger but I think recovery would have been much more diffficult! I tried to ride today(horses) and not sure that I'm ready for that it feels so different having something move around on your chest when you've never had anything! Sorry I haven't posted any pics, they're all on my iPad and for some reason I can't upload pics to sites except when I send an email so if anyone would like to see I will be more than happy to email them! I was sized a 34c at one store and a 32 at another, I've always worn 32 so I'm going to buy some on that size.. I'm also very pleased with e mid profile rather than high profile! They sit so perfectly in the center of my chest instead of my neck... However if I want the. Higher nothing a little push up bra couldn't take care of... I would do this all over again! No regrets what so ever.. My husband actually told me this morning that at first he really wasn't too happy that I did it( even thought he said he was) but he is so happy with the outcome!
