I started getting lip fillers (Juvederm) at 18 years old with Dr. Davila. The prices per syringe are steeper for my area, but I refuse to go to anyone else two years later. His technique was ideal and precise, minimal to NO BRUISING, and for the most part, painless! I go about every four to five months for a touch up, and I have yet to experience any problems whatsoever. He listened to my preferences and ideal results, and always delivers exactly what I want. I chose to watch him inject my face every time, which I greatly appreciate. As a younger patient I've always been treated kindly and with respect from Dr. Davila and the staff at both their Guilford office and New Haven office. Overall it was a lovely and comforting environment, with a highly professional trained staff.
Dr. Davila is an artist. I have a very different type of frowny look to my mouth. He makes such an improvement in how I look. Also in the frown between my eyebrows. He's talented, compassionate, and conscious of my budget. I would recommend him to anyone for injectable fillers. I've used one other doctor before him and the results don't even compare!
I still can't believe how easy and painless it is!! 2 days post up and I don't feel a thing! I am taking my pills regularly and feel good. I have yet to see my results because my binding is still on. The procedure itself went great... next thing i knew it it was all over...but I'll keep you posted. Monday is my post op appointment .
Contemplated this procedure for a year after losing 115 lbs through diet and exercise over five year period and not being able to get rid of the excess skin in abdomen area. Very happy I went through with it. I had significant back pain before and after it is virtually GONE. A little more than three weeks post-surgery now and I am healing well. Pics are clockwise from left: before, after one week, after two weeks, after three. Updated on 1 Mar 2015:
With age, my face has lost fat. Having strong features (cheekbones, jawline, strong chin) the lack of fat was definitely making me look angular with a flattened profile. A fat transfer was able to help build natural softness back into my face. I waited to review because I wanted to see over time how my face would look. I still continue to have some injectables done in the cheek area but the fat transfer definitely has helped the volume mid face.
I've had Botox (or Dysport) three times (on the lateral lines on my forehead and my crow's feet) and have been very satisfied. No bruising or discoloration at the injection site. And the results have been excellent in that 1. it has lasted quite a long time (~7 months) and 2. it has always looked very natural--no strange, frozen-faced kind of an effect. I think these good results have a lot more to do with my doctor (Dr. Davila), than whether he used Botox or Dysport (both seem the same to me). Updated on 30 Apr 2015: I just wanted to update my review of Dr. Davila at Esana in New Haven, CT. I just went for another procedure (Botox injections in forehead and crow's feet) today. I should start to see the results in a few days so I'm not commenting about that (though I'm confident it will turn out well, as it always does w/ Dr Davila). What I wanted to add to my original review are a few other reasons why I think Dr. Davila is so good at what he does. First, he is incredibly respective and responsive in that he always takes a lot of time to LISTEN to me when I come to see him. He pays careful attention to what I want out of the procedure and what my concerns, likes and dislikes are. Unlike a lot of doctors, he doesn't rush things at all and never makes me feel like I am being hypersensitive or demanding. Another thing I really like about him is that he won't just go ahead and do any old procedure that you ask him to do--which may sound like a bad thing but it's actually not. He wants his patients to look fantastic and he uses his professional experience/judgment to let you know whether the thing you want done will ultimately enhance or detract from your experience. Today at my appointment, besides getting Botox in my forehead & crow's feet, I also wanted to get more Voluma in my cheeks/cheekbone area. I had Voluma over a year ago by a different doctor in Florida but I was starting to think that the effects were fading. Dr. Davila very easily could have just given me the Voluma today and it would have been a profitable experience for him--I was already there getting other injections and the Voluma would have taken a few minutes but I could have been charged upwards of $1000 for two units (not sure what Esana's prices are on Voluma). Instead, though, he told me his honest opinion--which was that the Voluma was actually still looking pretty good and that I should wait at least another 3 months or so before getting more Voluma in that area. His concern was that I might start to look "too done" if I went ahead with it today. I really appreciated his honesty and professionalism. In my experience, it's rare to have people in the beauty/cosmetic surgery industry try to under-sell you. Esana is a great place and Dr. Davila is really the best. I feel lucky to have such a great doctor here in New Haven!
Dr. Davila is an amazing physician. I have been seeing him for about 10 months and have received: Botox, voluma, restlylane, and belotero. He is able to look at your face and corectly accesss what will give you the best results. His demeanor will relax you immediately. You will not be pushed to do things you do not want...actually, you will leave wanting to do more! The office and staff are professional, kind, and accomodating. Enjoy your experience...I know you will.
I initially wanted my tear troughs filled, however once I spoke to Dr. Davila about my concerns, he suggested filling a different part of my face. He used very little restylane, .5 syringe. I'm 34 and I now look in y mid 20's yea me! So happy. I keep looking in the mirror, because I am so pleased with the outcome.
Did a wonderful job to make the under eye sunkeness practically disappear. Really think the key is a very very skilled plastic surgeon who understands the underlying structures. No bruising and the injection site swelling went down within an hour or so. Took Bromelin for a few days before which seems to always help. Updated on 7 Jul 2013: A month later and still looking great. Very, very pleased with the natural looking improvements the product made to my under eye sunkeness. Updated on 8 Aug 2013: I am very happy still with the results. I have seen no reduction in the effect so far. As I understand, the under eye area holds the Belotero well since it is an area with little movement. Would not hesitate to do this in the future if and when I see that I may need it.
I went in for my first IPL treatment today. I paid 1/3 of the cost of a set of three, because that's how they do it. The RN (Stephanie) explained that it will hurt, that I'll see my sun damage get darker and then about 7 days after the skin will fall off revealing perfect skin underneath. I have been using SkinMedica Retinol about three times a week for about a year and I had Ultherapy over my midface and neck in December. I read a lot of bad reviews of IPL, and I can guess, based my own experience and by what Dr Davila and the RN Stephanie said, that those with negative results were burned. Dr Davila and Stephanie tested my skin with various strengths (20, 21, 22 and 23) to see what my face and cheat could handle. They discussed the pain and the heat with me, and didn't rush me. The procedure took about 45 minutes, it hurt quite a bit (they used a 23 on me) and I felt stingy and a bit tingly after. Now, 6 hours after the procedure, I still have some orange peel like skin on my chest, but not as much as before, and there is no more swelling on my face. There's no pain now, and I have put on moisturizer twice since 11 am. I'll post again tomorrow morning. Updated on 17 May 2012: Okay!! It's the third day, and all the orange peel skin is smoothed out. A few of the very dark spots are starting to break up and they look patchy instead of evenly dark. I haven't seen anything disappear yet, but this is just the third night. I'm still using the CalmPlex, although tonight it really stung when I rubbed it in! More updates later. Updated on 21 May 2012: Okay!! It's Day Six and I'm absolutely thrilled. Almost all the weird brown dirt-like specks are gone, they really did just wash off, and my entire face looks radiant! My neck still isn't "dirt" speck free, nor is my chest, but I can cover those areas with concealer and clothing very easily. I suspect I'll need another blast on my neck and chest. I was a lot more damaged than I thought. I'll have to post my Day Of photo, my Day Three photo and the ones from today so you all can see the results. Bottom line: only have IPL done by an MD or a highly experienced RN. I am very, very happy with the results. Updated on 28 Aug 2012: I just posted the pictures from my third IPL treatment. Stephanie turned up the heat and wow! It really hurt and I wound up with actual blisters But, two weeks later, my skin is so very silky smooth it's almost unreal. And my dark spots are gone! I am very happy.
Technically after a rhinoplasty (or any disruption of tissue that leads to inflammation and scar formation) there is some swelling up to or even beyond one year after surgery. The obvious swelling that makes you look like you were recently operated is usually resolved within 10 -14 days. After this initial period there is a slow, gradual progression to your final result that can last 1-2 years. Patients with thicker skin may notice swelling longer, but beyond the first two weeks it is most obvious to the patient and the surgeon. In short, patients are ready to go out in public within the first two weeks with minor improvements thereafter.
The initial "beaten up" appearance after rhinoplasty can be gone within the first 7-10 days if you don't experience much bruising. Bruising is more common and extensive where there is bone fracturing taking place. True recovery, meaning ALL of the bruising is gone, can be technically more than one year, however patients enjoy their results within 2-4 weeks, knowing that after 4 weeks there are still minor improvements to be seen.
The dorsal hump alone could be treated with a closed approach, however once you add the issue of "tightness" on one side that may be a nasal valve problem that requires grafts as well as the tip work, my personal preference is an open approach. I also agree that a detailed record of the operations you've had will help the surgeon devise an appropriate plan.
