I had smart lipo and fat transfer to my butt, My experience was the following, it hurted alot so they ended it up giving me more medicine because i could feel all the movement and would burn so i had to stop him twice, the second time they gave me a shot and i falled asleep, i would wake up and remember him doing my flanks and falling back asleep lol, then ,last time i woke up they were finished , surgery lasted 4 hrs i guess, they put a garment on me and clothe , i rested in a couch husband came to pick me up, i dont remember anything in the way home he sd i was saying crazy things lol, he even said i told him in front of the nurses that they had lied to me about the procedure not hurting at all when it did oopps!! I dont remember, anyways i got home laid down i was leaking blood all over had the garment all bloody and wet i remember getting up and change garments and going back to bed. Then my mother who was there watching all of my 3 kids while hubby took care of me , she cooked me a chicken soup to recover because i looked dead and pale, i took some meds for the pain because i was hurting and that had me sleeping the whole nite, next day i felt better and everyother day has improved!!:) im on a diet i take my diets very strict i wear and sleep with my garments every day i only take it off to take a shower, ive had a couple of massages , i drink alot of water im not excercising, i wear my garments really tight thats the only way to get a great result and i also wear a compression board for the stomach to keep it flat under my garment i also sleep with it as well. Every time i get out the shower i stand in front of the mirror and i massage my stomach for a few minutes, my diet is simple i eat soup with chicken evey day or salad with chicken or tuna boiled eggs the white part only, i drink green tea ,in the morning first thing i do is drink a cup of boiled water with lemon to loose weight i also alternate and drink papaya with Saliva to tighthen up skin and loose weight , i also put my garment in the refridgerator while i take a shower to have it cold when i put it on , it helps with ur skin and loose weight as well or you can put cloths or big pads in the refridgerator let them get really cold and put them under ur garment for awhile , you can also take Apio, cucumbers, and lemon mix it in water and drink a glass each day it helps you loose weight as well, the trick is no fast food or fat food or sodas or bread or rice, try it so far is working for me!!:):) and no eating at night time if your so hungry eat peanuts it gets u full and loose weight!!im still swollen wich in a way is good because it means i have alot more to loose.:) Updated on 9 Apr 2015: It will be 2 months next week on the 12th and so far im happy still loosong the weight off have more alot to loose but little by little:)
I am a 43 year-old mother of three. I brought these beautiful beings into this world by c-section. After my last baby (in 2008), I began to notice that while I got down to as low as 116 pounds (I'm 5 ft.), there was a little bulge in my tummy. I began to call it my kangaroo pouch. LOL. Well, after this child, my husband and I also decided to go on birth control. With this, I began to slowly gain weight. Then last year (2012), I began to experience some pulling and sharp pains behind the c-section scar, in which I finally went to my OB in the fall to find out what was going on. I was told that I may have endometriosis, and was put on a different birth control, that had stronger hormones to reduce the pains and see whether this would help my condition. Well, in doing this, I literally blew up! I ended up adding pounds just for smelling food! In January (2013), I ended up having a laparoscopic procedure to determine and treat my abnormalities. For the most part, I feel so much better from the procedure, and judging from the two-hour procedure and images that were taken, I had quite a bit going on inside. But I am now sitting at 144 pounds and totally disgusted in the mirror. I was a very small person when I first got married, weighing in at around 98 pounds, had a 24 inch waistline and was always energetic. Now, I just want to look nice in my clothes and work toward the rest of my goal (at the gym). It has been a little over 4 weeks since my laparoscopy, and I am feeling my motivation and able to move around with so much more ease. Endometriosis can be very debilitating. . . Sooooo. . . with much appreciation for this site and all of the stories I've read, and lots of research, I have decided on Smart Lipo. My procedure will be March 14th and I can't wait! I am very excited and a little scared, but will be posting my experience. So far, I have met with the coordinator and the doctor, we decided to take care of my upper/lower abs and flanks. My pre-op is March 8th and I will be sure to take in a list of questions for post-op care. The coordinator and I met last week, and she recommended that I cut sodium down in my meals, drink plenty of water, and to begin taking the Arnica and Bromelain tablets twice a day for at least a week before the procedure to help with bruising and swelling. I'll be starting this next Thursday, since that will be the two-week mark. I also understand that I cannot take multi-vitamins, prescription drugs, Motrin (as it acts as a blood thinner), or other pain killers, with the exception of Tylenol. So a few days before my procedure, I will most likely post a few Before photos and during my progress afterward. Wish me luck!Updated on 15 Mar 2013:3/15/13 I had my procedure yesterday. Everything went at the doctor's office. I arrived and was greeted by Lucinda and Ana, then moved on to a room where I was put into a robe and got started with photos and markings by the surgeon. I was made very comfortable both before and during the procedure. I know this sounds silly, but as the surgeon worked on my rib areas, I couldn't help but laugh. It felt as though I was being tickled. (Please don't laugh at me, but with me. LOL) Throughout the whole process, either I was well-medicated or the doctor was very gentle. Perhaps both(?) And when I did feel uncomfortable, I was attended to quickly. So I can also say that during the insertion of any needles or the instrument, it was not bothersome. The overall experience was a lot easier than I expected. When they rolled me out in a wheelchair, they provided a really appreciated and much needed cover that fit over the seat so that any leakage wouldn't get onto our leather. (That would just crush me.) They advised my husband of what to expect and when to start taking my meds. So . . . Once my husband got me home, I don't remember much except that he got me into bed and kept our little ones occupied throghout the evening. I remember waking up in the 2 o' clock am hour in some pain. He gave me an antibiotic and I thought I would hold off on the vicodin until I felt I really needed it. He helped me to the restroom, where I realized how much leakage I had and we had to change the dressings and the garment. (Getting into the garment is a pain, for the record.)Then off I went back to bed. . . until around 5 am. My body was in quite some pain, so bad that my teeth began to shatter, like when you get out of a pool in cold weather. :-) So then I became comfortable again. I am posting the before photos now. Sorry that I didn't get a chance to do this before, as it is not easy to get clingy children out of one's bedroom. I am going to be showering in a while, so once I do, I'll try to get my husband to take some more photos so that I can post an update. On my cell phone, Anna took a picture of the removed fat from my procedure, so I'll get that posted soon as well.Updated on 18 Mar 2013:3/18/13 I'm on Day 4 now. I was moving around pretty slowly the past couple of days. And after my shower on the 15th, I just wanted to climb into bed. Felt like it took a lot out of me for some reason. I've been doing so much better since. I've taken about 3 Vicadins total and feel that Motrin will do. I continue to take my arnica and bromelain several times a day and have been very careful with my sodium intake, and have stocked up on papaya and kiwi. . .These are known to have enzymes to help with swelling and bruising. And healing in general. I've lost a total of six pounds from the morning of the procedure to this morning (after breakfast), but I know that I am still swollen. While I know that I won't lose much for weight, I am happily surprised for the six pounds that I have lost. This may be attributed to discipline in the portions in my plate. My husband took me out for a little walking around (just at stores) yesterday to help strengthen. I feel I did fairly well. I will be returning to work tomorrow so wish me luck. I have posted photos taken yesterday, which was day three. And the photo of the melted fat that was removed on the morning of my procedure. Perhaps over the weekend, I will be able to follow up with more photos.
I decided to undergo smartlipo on March 29, 2011 to reduce the size of my love handles and abdomen areas. I dropped a significant amount of weight after my second child was born. I went from 172 to 122 pounds which took 5 months to achieve—but I still had those annoying love handles that made me feel self-conscious of my body. I was not looking for a miracle after smartlipo but I wanted to get a good result—not a perfect one since that is not possible. The day of the surgery I was given something to take my anxiety away, a pain pill, and also a lollipop which contained a medication to “help me forget”. I should have never taken the lollipop because it did exactly what it was supposed to do—I forgot the majority of the surgery went. I just remember bits and pieces. Though I remember the beginning of the surgery completely since that medication was not yet in my system. I remember that was very uncomfortable and painful as they put in the tumescent fluid. It felt a lot of tugging accompanied with painful zapping pinches. After that, they lazered the fat and then suctioned it out—this is the part I don’t quite recall. I just remember seeing some fat going through the tubes and seeing the containers of fat/bloody fluid at the end of my procedure. I was told that they removed somewhere between 1000 to 1200 cc’s of fat. I was hoping for more though but I was too out of it to say so at the time. I paid $3,500 for my flanks and abdomen—they had a monthly special. Night of the procedure: I was in a good amount of pain even after taking the vicodin that the doctor prescribed. The medicine eased some of the pain and made me extremely drowsy. I was draining a lot that night and I was also so nauseated that I vomited like two times that night. Day 1(first day after procedure): I was still nauseated so I vomited once more but after that it stopped. I was finally able to shower that afternoon. I remember that my incisions on the back stinged when the water hit them so I had to hold gauze pads on them while showering to ease the stinging pain. Most of the drainage had stopped by that time. I remember that it was very painful to put the garment back on while trying to put pads on the incision areas. I was in pain and felt really sore on the areas that were worked on. Started taking bromelain for swelling and arnica to reduce bruising. Day 2: The drainage had completely stopped at this point. I took my garment off to shower and my body looked a lot better than before the surgery. At this point there was no swelling so this was probably why I liked the look of my body on this day. The only thing that worried me was that one flank was a bit larger than the other. But overall I remember being somewhat happy with the results so far—even though I knew this was not the final result. Same amount of pain and soreness. Day 3: On this day the swelling began which made my body look almost the same as before surgery which was upsetting. I just reminded myself that it was swelling and this is normal after any surgery. The pain eased up a bit on this day but not significantly. I was also getting weird pains when I was trying to get comfortable in bed. They are stitch like pains or like something got detached for a second or so. Very unusual pain! Day 4: Feeling a lot better in regards to the pain. It only hurts when bending or trying to get comfortable in bed. I am also very very sore to the touch. So sore that it even hurts to carry a purse since it taps me at times which is painful. I have to be very careful when getting in and out of my truck because of the soreness. The swelling is getting worse even though I am taking bromelain. The arnica pills have helped tremendously since my bruising is not bad at all. Day 5: The pain is much less today but the soreness makes up for that. I can’t even carry my two year old because of it. The weird pains are still there when moving around in bed. Today I started having difficulty breathing for some reason. I thought my garment was too tight because of the swelling so I took it off for a little while but I was still having trouble breathing. This was the most of my worries at this point since I heard that liposuction carries a risk of pulmonary embolism but that is really rare. Day 6-7: The swelling is horrible and is making me have doubts about having this procedure done since my body looks the same as it did before surgery—well at least to me it does look like before. I am still worried that one flank looks bigger than the other. Still having a bit of trouble breathing at times—mostly when I think about it haha. I am still really sore to the touch. My abdomen and some areas of my flanks feel really hard, numb, and warm to the touch. I was told this was most likely some tumescent fluid that was still in those areas and that I should drink lots of water to flush it out. Day 8: I went for my 1 week check-up today. I was told that I was healing properly and that my love handles should even out as the weeks go by. I just really hope that does happen! I also told my doctor about my breathing troubles and he told me that he never heard of that happening after smartlipo. I told him about the risks of embolism and he told me not to worry and that if that were the case then I would not be standing in his office since I would probably be in the ER instead(he was not rude about it lol). I am still swollen and sore to the touch. Day 9-10: I am feeling more mobile now and the soreness is not as bad but it is still bothersome. I am bending over without much pain at this point. My back incisions have finally healed. The breathing is still a problem but hopefully it is just because of the amount of swelling that I have. The weird pains are lessening now. Day 11-15: During these days, the pain has subsided significantly and so has the soreness. I can actually massage the treated areas without too much pain. Don’t get me wrong though—I am still somewhat sore to the touch but not as bad as before. The swelling varies day by day. Some days I am really swollen and some days I am not too swollen. I have my “I feel fat” days and my “I feel skinnier” days. Some days my love handles are even and some days they are not?? I am also still hard, numb, and warm to the touch in some areas. I was told that this should go away by the 4 to 6 week mark. My breathing issue is getting better now which I am relieved about. I still get the weird pains here and there. The verdict is still out on seeing if “smartlipo was worth it”. I will update this just as soon as I feel that I have gotten the “final results”. I hope that I am happy with the results because I don't want to feel like I wasted that much money on something that didn't give results. Updated on 13 Apr 2011: Updated on 20 Apr 2011: I am now at the 3 week mark and feel a lot better about the outcome of my results. I was hoping I'd look a lot thinner by now but that's not the case. My love handles seem to be smaller but I don't see a change in my abdomen. I still have 3 more weeks to finish healing so I hope that it keeps getting better. I still have some discomfort, numbness, and hardness in the areas that were worked on. The discomfort feels somewhat similiar to a pinch. I am still wearing the garment and can't wait to be able to stop wearing it. Weekly updates to come:) Updated on 27 Apr 2011: I am now at the 4 week mark and I am closer to feeling back to normal. I still have some hardness/numbness in my lower abs and love handles but it is getting better as the weeks go by. My love handles are still not perfectly even which I know is not possible. I just wanted them to look as symmetrical as they can be. I wished more fat had been taken out of one side so that they would look a bit more even. My stomach is just a bit smaller than last week but not too big of a difference from then.
I was afraid because I had lipo done years ago, but relocated shortly thereafter and never attended any follow treatment, thus my swollen stomach. It was something I was just prepared to live with. The uneven bulge showed in a dress I wanted to wear and I decided to do something about it. Smart lipo. I am a few hours out from my recovery. Some parts of the procedure I remember and others I don't. I just awaked an hour and 1/2 ago to a sleeping Home. I remember being awake and having conversations and then waking up in a different room. I to the doctors office for 1 o'clock and left around 5 I think. I don't know who I got into my house or bed (good I had everything ready before I left hoe). I haven't seen myself but it feels better. I can't wait to see myself. I made sure the doctor knew my priorities and that i was looking for a painless procedure. So much for that last one, the numbing process was tough to endure an I have a fairly High pain threshold. I also remember the laser. Nothing compared to the. Numb pores. I don't remember the suction at all. I am glad that I had told the doctor my priorities me areas for him to concentrate on 1) stomach, 2) thighs, 3) bra roll. So far so good?!! Updated on 10 Sep 2011: Okay. One week out and the results so far are great. I still have some swelling, especially around my ankles. I am having to keep my feet up this weekend, but my waist is shrinking and the curves look great. The backroll area has not really hurt and no real drainage from there. The inner thighs are still ablittle sore and they drained the longest. I have also started using a massager and I am really seeing that accelerate the results. One week spot went well.
