Superb experience with Christy (English-speaking consultant) and Dr. Kim Jae Hoon. Genuinely receptive to my needs and concerns during the pre-operation / consultation phase and, most importantly, executed beautifully. For reference, I'm writing this as an early 20s non-Korean male I contacted April 31 about two months ahead of my desired surgery date, having originally heard about the clinic (and Dr. Kim Jae Hoon) through a local friend. I consulted with a few different clinics, but finally settled on April 31 given Dr. Kim's stellar reputation and 3+ decades of experience. I arrived in Seoul one day ahead of my surgery date for a fulsome consultation with Dr. Kim -- during which we discussed my desired outcome and key concerns. Dr. Kim was cool, calm and confidence-inspiring -- I left that afternoon feeling optimistic about the next day. For reference, I had a hump, bulbous nose tip, hanging columella, and caudal septum deviation, so we agreed I would undergo hump reduction, tip & columella reduction, and deviation correction. Surgery day was very smooth - I arrived at 9AM and was in the operating room by 10AM. I was placed under local anesthesia and IV sedation - and woke up around 4-5 hours later. April 31 provided the necessary medications and brought me back to my hotel shortly thereafter. Post-surgery, I returned back to the clinic: --- 1 day after for removal of bandages inside my nose --- 6 days after for stitch and plastic insert removal, as well as laser de-swelling treatments --- 9 days after for final check-up with Dr. Kim and additional laser de-swelling treatments Christy was fully available throughout the post-operation period to answer any questions/concerns I had. While the first night was challenging given difficulty breathing through my nose, the recovery from then-on was very manageable. From Day 2 onwards, I had no trouble with long walks / light exercise, which the clinic suggested would be better for recovery than sitting/lying down all day. I am currently a few weeks post-operation, and while my nose is still a bit swollen as expected, I am extremely pleased with the results so far. I would highly recommend April 31.
Today I would like to share my experience with fat grafting and acculift at April 31 clinic in Seoul. I was really bothered with my hollow cheeks and excess weight on my jaw, so I decided to resculpt my facial shape with fat. I went to a couple of different clinics in Seoul for consultation, but i liked the consultation at april 31 the most. When i came in, there was no waiting time and i could immediately see dr. Kim who specializes in fat grafting. What i liked about the consultation is that dr. Kim explained what he thought was the most suitable for me in regards to my age and previous surgeries. He didn't try to pressure me into getting any other procedures that i didn't ask for, and overall the consultation seemed quite smooth. I decided on april 31 that day, and planned my surgery for the next day. So the next day I came into the clinic, signed some papers, changed into surgery clothing, took before photos and went into the surgery room. Fat grafting and acculift is done under sedation anesthesia, which is my favorite kind of anesthesia. When it starts kicking it, you feel very calm, and then you're out. When i woke up i barely felt any pain, mostly just some discomfort. I stayed in the recovery room for about an hour, and then Christy, the English speaking consultant, brought me my medication and helped me to get a taxi back home. Honestly, acculift and fat grafting are quite minor procedures so i felt great that day, so i just did some things around the house, ordered some food and relaxed. The next day i had to come in for a checkup, everything was fine, and from there on it's just a waiting game until the swelling goes down. I had my third and last appointment a week after my operation date. Dr. Kim came in to check on the healing process, i had the stitches removed and i did laser treatment to help with the deswelling. At this point it's 1,5 weeks after my surgery, and i can't say anything yet about the result because I’m still very swollen. I am hopeful that the swelling will go down soon and I will be satisfied with the result. But in regards to the whole experience at the clinic I will say that I am satisfied. Whenever i had questions i got quick responses from Christy and even though i don't speak Korean I felt quite comfortable with undergoing the procedures, so overall a great and easy experience!
Had nose surgery with Dr. jae Hoon Kim at April31 Clinic and he botched my nose, over-resected my alars, and caused my nose to collapse; then he refused to take responsibility for it. Please visit tpf and search "April 31", he has botched many patients of all nationalities and when botched patients return to the clinic to complain- he avoids all responsibility and so do the other staff, DO NOT go to this doctor. There are many clinics in Korea with competent and ethical surgeons, Jae Hoon Kim is not one of them.
I found this plastic surgeon from this website, Ytube as well as some Korean plastic surgery association.... I had a meeting with him to raise my nose tip. He was very knowledgeable - what he explained to me were what I read from my different articles in plastic surgery articles. So I trusted him and I decided to have the surgery with him. I paid pretty high fee for the complicated techniques. On my surgery day, everything was very quick and smooth. However, all problems happened when I went to into the surgery room. I barely talked with the surgeon. I saw him about 1 min and then he left the room. Then they made me have a deep sleep and I waked up when all done - there was no surgeon who I talked. I left the hospital because the staff said that I could meet the surgeon on the day after my surgery. On the second day, there was no surgeon again. When the nurse removed all tapes on my nose, I realized that some problems happened. What he did were totally different from what he explained and I paid. What he said was he would raise my nose tips with septal extension graft as well as cartilage. However, he dramatically shaped my upper cartilage to make it low (so make it look like nose tips high). The problem was that my original nose was very tiny and small. I needed to ask why he suddenly changed his plan without my permission. However, he was not there - only coordinator responded to my question in very rude and unprofessional way (raised her voice and said that she told me that I might need another follow-up surgery). As a patient, it was very insecure and terrible experience. I contacted some Korean friends and website sharing experience in the hospital. Most of them said that the hospital has a bad reputation regarding the communication and after-treatment. Four people had problems (nose tip was dropped after the surgery). However, they said that no one tried to help them - the doctor only said that he would take their complains to the legal sue... So they needed to find a different doctor to fix their nose later. In conclusion, I do not recommend the hospital --- hope I could find a better doctor to fix my nose soon.
