The shortest duration soft tissue fillers commonly used in the U.S. are the HA fillers. They are very well studied. They typically have a lifespan of 6-12 months. If you decide you don't like the look of the HA filler, it can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, which is an enzyme that breaks down HA. You could also start by just having a small amount of HA filler injected, see how it looks over a period of time, and then add more as desired. The other commonly used fillers last longer. Calcium hydroxylapatite filler (Radiesse) usually lasts over 12 months. Poly-L-lactic acid filler (Sculptra) can last up to 24 months.
