I am a board certified ENT surgeon and a facial plastic surgeon with 29 years of experience. My expertise are rhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty, functional nasal surgery and nasal reconstruction. I am trying to make a better nose, thus to make them live a better life.
After having done extensive research, I had gotten a revision rhinoplasty with Dr Jin using rib cartilage a year ago. As I had 2 previous revisions done with another doctor, this time it’s certainly is not gonna be an easy task. My experience under Dr Jin and his team’s care was exceptional. As someone that cannot understand nor speak Korean, language barrier was never an issue. Dr Jin speaks excellent English, which made consultations easy and both our expectations were able to be set out clearly. Dr Jin was realistic in the results he could expect to attain for my nose, and was straightforward in explaining the necessary procedures while also considering the concerns that I have. All pre-op examinations were scheduled to be done within the same building as the clinic, which made everything prior to the surgery convenient and easy. Following the surgery, pain killers and antibiotics were prescribed and recovery was overall very easy for me. Checks on my recovery were done frequently during the first week post-op before the cast was removed. Thanks to Dr Jin’s amazing skill, not the slightest pain at all , bruises were not noticeable with a slight yellow hue from day 1 post op & swelling was minimal. Most importantly, any incision scars were entirely not visible. The nurses that have taken care of me during my recovery were also friendly and caring, which contributed to my overall very pleasant experience. Back home, my long time renowned aesthetic doctor described it as “an amazing job done “ & had therefore referred a couple of her patients to Dr Jin. Once again, a big big thank you to Dr Jin for creating the most natural & beautiful nose for my daughter, as for myself a fantastic revision job done. Dr Jin, we’ll remember you for as long as ever because your creation will be with us permanently. So glad we found you.
The BEST rhinoplasty surgeon in Korea! After being botched by a surgeon in Korea, I went to see Dr Jun. As a result of mg first surgery, I couldn't breath properly and my nose became significantly larger. I wanted a smaller feminine nose but the surgeon gave me a typical Korean style surgery, with a high nose and over projected tip. My side profile looked horrendous and the nose didn't suit my facials structure. I became depressed, I couldnt exercise as much because my breathing was awful and I regretted getting rhinoplasty. As a result, I initially did not want to get my revision surgery in Korea anymore. However, after having numerous consultations and doing intensive research for the best ethnic rhinoplasty surgeons in the US, UK, Columbia, Turkey Etc., I decided to go with Dr Jin as I really liked his rhinoplasty philosophy. I felt extremely comfortable at my consultation. He focused on the function of my nose and not only the aesthetics, like many other doctors in Korea. Dr Jin has a really calm manner which made me feel reassured that he was listening to my concerns. During my consultation with other doctors, I often felt pressured into getting surgery, however, I didn't feel that way with Dr Jin. He is extremely customer orientated and it's obvious that he wants the best outcome for you. I had my second rhinoplasty with Dr Jin at the end of February 2022. I am almost 5 months post operation and I am SO HAPPY with my results. I honestly did not think my nose would look this amazing but he really exceeded my expectations. My nose is smaller and appears more feminine which really balances my other facial features. Most importantly, my breathing has improved! The surgical process was also very different to my first first surgery in Korea. During my first rhinoplasty, I woke up in the middle of my surgery which was extremely scary. However I did not wake up once during my revision with Dr Jin. All of the staff at the clinic were so so helpful and they constantly came to check on me after surgery. I was also expecting my face to swell up over the next few days post surgery similarly to my first experience. However, I had minimal swelling and I believe this is because Dr Jin is amazing at his job and uses precise techniques which cause minimal bruising after surgery. I am extremely satisfied and happy with my results! I wish I had gone to Dr Jin from the beginning so I would have avoided being botched. I 100% recommend premium nose clinic if it's your first rhinoplasty and especially if you want a revision.
After years of not being able to breathe properly, I went to see Dr. Jin at Dr. Jin's Premium Nose Clinic. The reason I chose him is simply that he's supposed to be the best. He is known for taking on the hardest cases of nose reconstruction and achieving feats no other surgeon can. I've never had nose surgery before, and I certainly don't need a reconstruction, but a surgeon who can take on the most challenging cases surely will be able to do the best job on the less drastic cases too. Aside from the breathing issues, I also wanted to see if I could refine my nose tip while I was at it. I have a straight, masculine nose, and I've always loved the look of a cute and feminine supratip break. Within minutes of stepping into his office, Dr. Jin had diagnosed me with a deviated septum and swollen turbinates, so I decided on the spot to get septoplasty and turbinate reduction. In addition, Dr. Jin said he would be able to use septum cartilage left over from the septoplasty to build up my nose tip a little. His fees are a bit more expensive than other surgeons in Korea, but given he's the best in the field, that's to be expected. The nose is such an important body part in terms of function (I mean, breathing is pretty critical to survival) that I had decided from the outset that only the best would do in this instance. Day 0 - Day of surgery, 19th August 2021 I came to the clinic at 7:30am, had my photos taken, had a final pre-op consultation with Dr. Jin where we confirmed the details of the surgery, then without further ado, I got on the operating table and was put under. When I woke up, I was terrified something had gone wrong. I felt that I'd been in surgery all day, it was now night (it was noon), and the surgery had been a disaster. I guess it was the effect of the anaesthesia. I also felt physically sick. I've always hated the feeling of waking up from general anaesthesia, which is why I try to get things done under IV sedation as much as possible, but Dr. Jin strongly recommended G.A. as the much safer option, so I had complied. The first few hours after waking up when you can't even drink water is pure hell, but things very slowly start to get better from the first sip of water. The first 12 hours post surgery is really quite unpleasant, and the subsequent 12 aren't that much better. My nostrils were packed with cotton wool (I think that's what it was), and my left nostril in particular would not stop bleeding. It bled all night. I had to change the dressing under my nose three times throughout the night. I was having visions of bleeding to death. It was seriously quite worrying. I took extra high doses of iron and copper supplements to give my body the nutrients to make more blood lest I lose too much and pass out... Day 1 I went to the clinic for the morning-after check up. I was still bleeding so Dr. Jin did some things to stanch the bleeding and replaced the cotton wool in my left nostril. The cotton wool in my right nostril was taken out. My left nostril started bleeding again when I ate my first meal of the day then bled on and off until the evening when it finally stopped completely. I could barely sleep because I was so uncomfortable. Although my right nostril didn't have any cotton wool inside, it was completely blocked with snot, so it made no difference. My throat also felt blocked with thick phlegm that just wouldn't dislodge. It just sat there suffocating me, and that combined with my blocked nose meant that I was physically and psychologically so tormented that I managed about two hours of disturbed sleep the entire night. I was quite depressed and even regretted having had the surgery a little if I'm honest. Not being able to breathe properly does very bad things to your psyche. Day 2 I was back at Dr. Jin's office at 9am. I had thought the bleeding had stopped, but apparently, there were still some small traces of blood appearing, so some more stuff was done to the insides of my left nostril, which involved some kind of a long metal probe. I thought it was going to zap me or cauterise me or something, but whatever it was doing, I couldn't feel it. All the cotton wool was taken out, so now both nostrils were just blocked with snot. I was starting to wonder if I'd ever be able to breathe through my nose again, when around lunchtime, my nostrils started clearing a tiny bit. By the evening, I could breathe around 10% through my nostrils and 90% through my mouth. I was very swollen and bruised all day and looked quite grotesque. For the first time ever, I was glad masks are mandatory. The mask doesn't hide my eyes, of course, which are also swollen and distorted, but I'll take what help I can get. Day 3 Today, I could breathe more through my nose, maybe around 50%. The swelling is slightly better than yesterday. In the middle of the night, I got up to go to the loo, and as I was thoughtlessly leaning forward on the loo (yes, I wasn't supposed to, but I was half asleep) I felt a sudden popping sensation in my nose and blood started dripping onto the floor. I must have applied enough pressure to burst a stitch. Ugh. I put some cotton wool into the nostril to stanch the bleeding and it stopped within a few minutes, but I was seriously freaked out that I'd busted open an incision. I'm not due back at the clinic until the day I get my stitches out, but I'm going to head over to Dr. Jin's office first thing tomorrow morning (today's Sunday) to make sure I haven't done any serious damage. I'm so angry with myself. Day 4 I went to the clinic at opening time in the hopes of getting the burst stitch checked out. Dr. Jin does his surgeries in the morning and only deals with outpatients from 3pm onwards, so I wasn't sure if I'd be able to see him, but I went on the off chance because I was so worried. Luckily, he had a minute to see me and after checking inside my nose, told me that everything was as it should be. Thank god for that! The swelling has gone down further and the bruise has turned mostly yellow, which means it will go away soon. I can still breathe only around 50% through my nose. My skin under the splint gets crazy itchy and ticklish from time to time, and there's nothing I can do but just wait for it to go away. It drives me insane and I can't wait to get it the splint off. Day 6 I got my splint and stitches removed today! In addition, they pulled out some plasticky things from deep inside my nostrils that I hadn't even known were there. I was shocked when these things emerged from my nose! No wonder I couldn't breathe. I thought my nose was just clogged up with snot, but once these things came out, I felt like my nose cavity had tripled in size! I also found out that Dr. Jin had used something called a flaring suture technique to bolster the structure of my nose (kind of like holding up the roof where the roof is the nose bridge) which had the added effect of slightly opening up my nasal valves. That's definitely a good thing in my book. I am very happy that Dr. Jin is so thorough with his work. I've heard so many horror stories of noses that look great straight after surgery but then gradually collapse due to structural issues. There are also tons of people who complain that they lost the ability to breathe properly the moment they had a nose job because form was prioritised over function. That just makes no sense to me, and I am shocked that there are surgeons who do this. I'm not saying all plastic surgeons are guilty of this, but this definitely seems to be a huge problem in Korea, and this is precisely the reason I decided I wanted an ENT specialist for my nose surgery rather than a plastic surgeon. Once I had decided that, my aim was to find an ENT specialist who also had a good sense of aesthetics and was skilled in surgery, which is how I came across Dr. Jin. From what I've seen so far, I am extremely happy with my decision. The only question mark I have is that there isn't a visible supratip break at the moment, but I'm hoping that's just due to the swelling. What's surprising is that my nose looks so normal only 6 days out from surgery. If I ran into someone I knew in the street right now, no one would know I'd had anything done to my nose. If this is the worst it's ever going to look, then it's going to look phenomenal once the swelling goes down. Updated on 26 Aug 2021: My feelings so far since getting the splint, stitches and the weird plastic things removed from my nose two days ago: 1. I can breathe better than I ever remember. The air just goes through, whereas before the surgery, I always felt that there was some obstruction somewhere. There were times I would blow my nose and nothing would come out, and yet, my nose was so blocked no air would enter. I get a lot of clear mucus still, but as long as I clear it, my nose is like an open tunnel. Loads of people seem to say they couldn't breathe properly until several weeks out from surgery, so this is a really pleasant surprise. I also never knew what I was missing out on by not being able to breathe properly. I had got so used to not being able to breathe, that I just didn't realise things could be this way. 2. The swelling in the nose is going down very gradually. There are no 'step changes', just a drip-by-drip kind of change that's continually happening. I really hope to see a supratip break appear soon, but I know it's early days and I'm trying not to focus on it. 3. I anxiously examine my nose for any negative changes because I've read (and seen on YouTube) so many cases where the nose looks great immediately after surgery but then goes wrong over the subsequent months. Curving to one side, collapsing, rotting, etc. Serious problems. Those kinds of stories petrify me, and I feel that I will always be on the look out for the first signs of anything like that happening. 4. As far as the cosmetic side of my surgery was concerned, I wanted an ultra natural result. I considered my surgery as a functional surgery with a tiny cosmetic alteration, so I wasn't looking for a dramatic change in the appearance at all. In fact, I wanted the change to be so minor that even my own mother wouldn't be able to easily tell. However, looking at my nose now, I'm wondering if I should have gone for a bit more to get a more noticeable projection in the nose tip and a definitive supratip break. It was a fairly expensive surgery and quite a tough recovery that I had to endure at first, not to mention the time and effort I invested into selecting the best surgeon possible. Given all that, I'm wondering if I should have been more 'ambitious' on the appearance side of things. On the other hand, I know I'm just being foolish. I've never really had a problem with how my nose looked, and when it comes to cosmetic surgery, the best course of action is usually to leave well alone unless you have a real, debilitating complex about something. On the whole, I am still very happy with my decision and hope I heal well without suffering any major complications. Updated on 29 Aug 2021: I must be the unluckiest person alive. I dropped my phone (iPhone XS with a heavy bumper) squarely on my nose tip while reading lying in bed. Fair to say, I completely freaked out. It's almost midnight on Sunday night, so the only thing I could do was to email the surgeon's office, but I am so worried that I don't think I will fall asleep tonight. Argh, it's been a mere 10 days since the surgery, and the phone could literally have fallen anywhere else on my nose apart from the tip and been fine. The tip is the one part that needs to be protected, and of course it's where I get hit. I'm already having visions in my head of the corrective surgery I'm going to need to fix this. There is swelling on the tip and just above it, the tip is rounder than before the accident, and I also think the angle of the tip has dropped a bit, but I'm not sure if if I'm imagining it. I'm literally about to cry. Updated on 30 Apr 2023: Now that it's been a year and 9 months since the surgery, I'm posting an update with the before and after photos. I waited until now to make sure all the swelling was resolved so that I could get an accurate comparison. As you can see from the photos, there isn't a huge difference visually with a neutral expression, but you can see that the nose tip is slightly rotated up and the nose bridge has the tiniest ski slope in the after shot. The much bigger difference can be seen when smiling, as the nose tip no long drops down as it did before. I didn't want a big difference in the appearance of my nose. My main concern aesthetically was that the tip was starting to droop a little so I wanted to shore it up and make sure it didn't droop further, and I also wanted to improve the appearance when smiling. The real point of the surgery, of course, was to improve the function, and that aim has definitely been achieved. I can breathe much more easily than before, and I don't suffer from a constantly blocked nose anymore. The final verdict is that I am very happy with the outcome of the surgery and would recommend Dr Jin to anyone looking to improve the function or appearance of their nose.
I had a revision rhinoplasty with Dr.Jin about 7 months ago. Like everyone else on this site, I spent a lot of time researching which physician would be best for my specific case. Initially, I preferred having my surgery in the US as I live here so I met with 2 other promient US rhinoplasty physicians and was convinced that either would not give me the results I desired, which was natural & long lasting. One of the physicians I felt his results were way too artifical - like all you see is NOSE - and the other I just did not trust. Around this time, I also read about Dr. Jin and saw his photos so I set up a skype consult with him - the process was easy and I felt comfortable talking with him and I could tell he was geniune. I traveled to Korea all by myself to have my surgery with Dr.Jin. I stayed for about 2.5-3 weeks, which is more than enough time. I stayed at the Dormy Inn PREMIUM SEOUL Garosugil; it's a 4 min walk from his clinic. I recommend this hotel - very clean and a nice breakfast buffet (I think it's about $25, but you can add it on before hand) so you don't need to leave the hotel for breakfast. As far as any language barriers, there is none when it comes to communciating with Dr.Jin. I am Korean American, born in the US and while I can write and speak Korean; he spoke to me in English and his English is near perfect. As far as the surgery and recovery - Dr.Jin and his staff is amazing. The aftercare they provide is 10/10. Everyone is so nice and helpful. They truly care - even post surgery. Results: It has been about 7 months since my surgery and I am happy with my results. My nose is more natural than my previous operated nose and I want to say that functionally it is most likely better as well. I will post 1 year results at a later time. Overall, I highly recommend Dr.Jin. I think it is worth traveling to Korea for. Dr.Jin is geniune, cares and I believe he goes the extra mile to ensure that your surgery goes well.
(video is myself, only '1 week' after surgery. Minimal bruise and swell.) Dr.Jin is the best doctor for rhinoplasty in Korea. I had suffered from nose allergy for my whole life and my nose was not pretty. Because Dr.Jin was already a renowned figure for nose surgery in Korea, it wasn't so hard to spot him through browsing. Now that it's been around a month since my surgery and treatment, I can say with confidence that Dr.Jin is the best. Here are top 3 reasons why. 1) Minimal pain 2) Minimal swell after surgery 3) very natural 1) Minimal pain - Before surgery, I heard from some friends who did their surgery with other doctors that it is painful… so I was a little afraid. But, Dr.Jin is so professional that there was minimal pain. (with some exaggeration, 'none') So don't worry. 2) Minimal swell after surgery - I couldn't take my work off for more than 1.5 week. As I had to go back to work briefly, I was worried about swelling after surgery. BUT really no swelling at all. It is almost the 'art'. 3) very natural beauty - it is so natural. I didn't want my nose to change too much or feel so unbalanced within my face. I am sooo satisfied with how I look now. It is going to be prettier after 2 months. (I was told that it gets settled around 3-month after surgery)
I had Rhinoplasty done with Dr. Jin using Rib Cartilage. I had previously had a broken nose from a sporting accident (bent nose) and had a turbinoplasty done in Sydney Australia, yet surgery only addressed some of the breathing issues and did not address the bent nose and some of the breathing. As I already had surgery done on my nose for medical reasons, I technically needed a revision case done and after doing MONTHS of research between surgeons, I had decided to go with Dr. Jin. My request was to do Septoplasty to improve my breathing and straighten nose, and to undertake general open rhinoplasty using rib cartilage for aesthetic purposes on the overall nose. Just over 1 week post op from the surgery now, my breathing is great and my nose looks so much better (and straight) and less bulbous, I am happy and feel like I made the right decision. In my opinion, I could not have had a better result than I did. He was very honest with everything from the beginning and the outcomes that could be achieved, his staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend him, especially for overseas patients as his English is great and no need for translators. Updated on 30 Jan 2020: Updating photos at 3 weeks post op. Tip is still swollen and healing, I will upload more photos as I continue to deswell. I have been using Dermatix Ultra as my Scar Gel applying it under the nose and also been drinking pumpkin juice and Arnica to help with deswelling.
Around late 2018 I decided to research and pursue undergoing rhinoplasty to address my main nose concerns: hump, bone deviation, deviated septum, and more. I'm a Korean-American female in my late 20s and currently live in the US. I did my due diligence and decided to travel to Korea to have my rhinoplasty performed by Dr. Jin. On paper he has the credentials, reputation, and safety track record that met my requirements. In person, I was impressed with his assessment of my features and his realistic and firm expectations for my result. Dr. Jin speaks fluent English which made the consultation frictionless and easy to understand. He clearly listed the procedures that would be done and I had my pre op tests done in a medical testing clinic in the same building. When I returned the next day for my operation, we had a second consultation to confirm everything that will be done. I appreciated how Dr. Jin handled my many questions throughout this process and he was always transparent and pragmatic. The clinic has a comfortable private recovery room and after my procedure I recovered for several hours there before I left. I really have to commend his support staff, especially his head nurse who checked in on me and helped manage some of the post GA side effects I experienced. Everyone on his staff is professional and compassionate, even with the language barrier. My post op care included a course of prescription medication including antibiotics and painkillers, and I returned to the clinic several times to be checked by Dr. Jin. Cast removal was on Day 7 and I returned several times after that, including the day before my flight home, to be personally checked by Dr. Jin on my recovery. As for my results, I'm very satisfied with what Dr. Jin achieved with my nose. It is definitely the 'my nose but better' natural result I wanted. Without the hump and the bone deviation, I am happier with seeing myself from the profile and the front. It looks balanced and harmonizes with my face. I'm still in the early stages of recovery, but as far as the major things I wanted to fix, I'm impressed and glad I went with Dr. Jin. After listing all my considerations of safety, cost, material (no foreign materials for me), and aesthetics, he was overwhelmingly the only choice to go with. Additionally, Dr. Jin also performed an otoplasty in conjunction with my rhinoplasty to correct one ear that stuck out. It was something that has subconsciously bothered me cosmetically, but I didn't even know it was fixable. It came up during my consultation and ultimately I'm glad I chose to do it as the difference it made in facial harmony was significant.
Having 4 revision rhinoplasties already and being extremely disappointed with the outcomes, I was desperate to find a revision specialist who would even have me as a patient. Dr. Jin from premium nose clinic in South Korea did an outstanding job. I'm almost 2 weeks post surgery and I'm so thrilled with the results, this rhinoplasty is above my expectations. I'm a nurse in Toronto and had surgery with 2 top surgeons who botched my nose so bad that I really couldn't visualize any doctor repairing my nose to just even a normal looking nose. My whole face looked odd and clearly botched with scooped out dorsum, underprojected, upturned bulbous tip that went to the right only, asymmetric columella. I had no nose left as it just felt like thick skin with artificial implants. My whole nose was collapsed and crooked. Dr. Jin agreed to removed the medpore and gortex and replace it with rib cartledge. He was so attentive both on Skype and in person. He listen to my concerns and answered my questions. I felt his confidence and my decision was made. I work with many cosmetic surgeons at the hospital and had many consultation as well. Most doctors in Toronto wouldn't even consider doing another surgery on me given all the facts. I'm so happy to meet Dr. Jin and have him do my revision, my nose looks amazing higher then my expectations not to mention my breathing is 100% better. Your so talented and kind. Thank you so much for an outstanding job, this has diffinety changed my life. God Bless Updated on 29 Sep 2019: I'm extremely satisfied with my results. Prior to this revision my nose felt empty and so unstable as though nothing connected inside. I'm overwhelmed with these results I thought was never possible.
I did my primary asian rhinoplasty with Dr Jin 3 weeks ago and I’m very satisfied with my results. I still look like myself, but better! I’ve always noticed the appearance of my nose is off and detracted from the rest of my face. Even though getting a rhinoplasty is something that I’ve thought about for years, I never really thought about it seriously until a year ago when I started going to college. I began getting extremely self conscious about my appearance, especially when it comes to meeting new people at school and interviewing for competitive internships. Let’s not fool ourselves- appearance matters even in a professional setting. I decided that I wanted to improve my appearance and thereby gaining more confidence in myself. For the past year I’ve been digging around online for information on Asian rhinoplasty, such as implant materials, techniques, different types of grafts, different clinics/doctors etc. I first considered rhinoplasty in the US, but then I realised Western surgeons did not fully understand the Asian aesthetics. Most results I’ve come across online were either underwhelming for the exorbitant costs or straight up did not harmonise with the Asian face. The few California based plastic surgeons with more experience in Asian rhinoplasty also had mixed results and didn’t fully align with what I wanted. At this point I turned to Korea, knowing Asian rhinoplasty is much more commonly performed over there. Through my research, I’ve realised foreign implants such as silicone/goretex has a higher rate of complications. Even though it is my primary surgery, I decided that I wanted to use autologous materials only. That quickly narrowed down my list of doctors to consult with, as most Korean clinics prefer silicone/goretex for primary rhinoplasty. I came across Dr. Jin earlier this year through his extensive publications in Asian rhinoplasty and his experience in rib cartilage rhinoplasty. By the end of March, I finally decided to move forward with actually getting a rhinoplasty that I’ve thought about for years. I emailed Dr. Jin’s clinic with a couple of pictures just to get an opinion. By the next day I already received a response with a couple of surgery recommendations coming from Dr. Jin himself, not a consultant which I prefer. Oftentimes communication with the doctor is an issue when it has to go through multiple consultants/interpreters and things can often get lost in translation (quite literally), leading to mismatched expectations and subsequently unsatisfactory outcomes between the surgeon and patient. Luckily, Dr. Jin communicated easily in English through emails and was responsive to all the questions I had regarding rib cartilage rhinoplasty and surgery methods. I had a delay in my arrival to Seoul due to airport issues from New Orleans, but the clinic was also accommodating and rescheduled my consultation at a later time as Dr. Jin was headed to surgery in the morning. Again, all my questions were answered during the in person consultation the day before surgery as well as the preop consultation, and the grafts and surgery methods were explained. I communicated my desired outcomes (more defined bridge, less upturned nose and maintaining projection) to Dr. Jin once more before surgery to make sure we are on the same page. Following the preop consultation, the surgery process itself went smoothly. Surgery waivers and consent forms were signed, and an IV drip was administered before heading for the operating room. The surgery itself took about ~3 to 4 hours and I was laying down in the recovery room until the anaesthesia has worn off. I have a decent pain tolerance, but the only uncomfortable part of the process was the soreness from the rib cartilage harvest. Think doing the most intense core workout of your life, multiply that sensation by 500 but it’s concentrated on one spot on your abs only. After the 3rd day the soreness gradually went away. The nasal packing was removed the following day, and the cast was removed a week later. I had a nose bleed the day after cast removal (due to sneezing) and had to stop by the clinic without an appointment. Thankfully, the clinic was accommodating and addressed the issue immediately. Overall, it has been an easier experience than I imagined thanks to his team. I’m very happy with the outcome currently, and excited to see the final result once the residual swelling settles down over the next few months. Dr. Jin’s clinic doesn’t offer fancy post op treatments compared to other Korean clinics, but Dr. Jin and his clinic staff were professional from start to finish. He is also very realistic with what could be achieved and what suits the patients face the most. I would highly recommend at the very least a consultation with his clinic or online if anyone is thinking of undergoing Asian rhinoplasty.
I’ll start off by explaining my backstory. I am a 26 year old caucasian girl from Canada. I had surgery for a deviated septum many years ago, but it changed the appearance of my nose. It became much wider and bigger, I hated it. I proceeded to have cosmetic rhinoplasty surgery done in Toronto, Ontario but it was unsuccessful as there was no change in the appearance of my nose. Even my then-surgeon had admitted that the results were unsatisfying. I waited over a year to see if over time my nose would change shape, but it didn’t. It still looked very wide and big compared to my old nose, I really missed my old nose. I knew I wanted to give cosmetic rhinoplasty another try but was feeling very discouraged after the failed attempt from someone who was considered one of Toronto’s top rhinoplasty surgeons. That was when I started to look into getting surgery abroad. I discovered that Seoul, Korea is considered the ‘mecca of plastic surgery’ with some of the best surgeons in the world. After lots of research on searching for the best-of-the-best, I came across Dr. Jin. Even after consulting with a few surgeons via email, Dr. Jin stood out to me the most. He specializes in revision rhinoplasty and since I already had numerous surgeries before, I figured he would be the best person to help me achieve a desired result. I started emailing Dr. Jin with many questions. He always emailed me back almost immediately, with thorough answers to every single one of my questions. What I also really liked is that the email responses came directly from him, not a secretary. I’m not sure how he did it considering he is such a busy man, but the fact that he communicated directly with me and with excellent response time was very impressive. His English is perfect, and his experience and skills are evident. My mother was very involved in this process as well and researched everything she could about him. He is a member of American Academy Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, American Academy Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, and American Rhinologic Society. After receiving the answers to all of my questions, I felt very confident in proceeding with surgery with Dr. Jin. I noticed my wide nose every single day looking in the mirror, and didn’t want to live the rest of my life noticing that, so I knew I wanted to give surgery another try. If it failed again, then I would just have to live with my nose the way it was, but I didn’t think another surgery could make it look any wider than it was already, so I figured I had nothing to lose. Dr. Jin recommended a hotel near his clinic which we stayed at, it was a 5 minute walk and having never been to South Korea and not speaking the language, I was very glad Dr. Jin was so helpful on suggesting accommodation, transportation from the airport, etc. He went above and beyond to ensure my trip to Korea was a comfortable one. My mom came with me, we flew from Toronto to Seoul. I initially had a consultation booked with Dr. Jin one day prior to the scheduled surgery, however we arrived in Seoul a couple days earlier and Dr. Jin suggested we come to see him right away for a consult instead. We arrived at his clinic and were greeted by his assistant, a young girl (Kyle-Kim.. spelling?) who was extremely friendly and welcomed us right away. A few minutes later Dr. Jin arrived and before even introducing ourselves he knew exactly who we were. He welcomed my mom and I to Korea and invited us into his office. I once again explained my case and he and his assistant took a look inside and outside my nose. Considering my previous surgery history he agreed that returning to the state of my original nose is impossible, however he was very certain that an improvement WAS attainable. I completely understood I would never have my exact old nose back, but an improvement was the goal, and hearing him say that is all I truly all I needed to hear in order to proceed. The nurses right away took me aside to take before photos, blood tests, and x-rays (in case he decided to use rib cartilage) all within the vicinity of his clinic. We confirmed the surgery date and time and left his office feeling very confident. It was a quick, informative, and great consultation. I was also very happy that he suggested to see me a few days before the surgery instead of the day before. This allowed me to have more time to feel ready for the surgery, and allowed him more time to think about how he was going to proceed with the operation. I arrived at his clinic at 7:30am the morning of surgery. His clinic consists of 2 operating rooms and private recovery rooms, the whole operation is very personalized and comfortable. My mom waited in my private recovery room as the surgery took about 4 hours. I was put to sleep and didn’t feel a single thing. Once I woke up, I rested until I was ready to be discharged. The ultimate goal was to make the bridge of my nose more narrow, and the tip more defined and less bulbous. Dr. Jin used a thin strip of cartilage from behind my ear to give the illusion of a narrow bridge. He defined the tip and left a very clean scar that was much nicer then the scar I had from my previous surgery. I left that evening with a cast on my nose and stitches both between my nostrils and behind my ear. I couldn’t notice any difference yet because of the cast and swelling, so I had to be patient. Dr. Jin provided me with antibiotics to take every day for the next week and ointment to keep the stitches moisturized. I was instructed to visit him the following morning to see how I was doing, and he suggested that as long as I am in Korea that I was welcome to come every morning just to ensure the healing process was going smoothly. Since he was 5 minutes away, that is what I did. This aspect of care and attention that he provided was incredible. Following the surgery I had very minimal pain, if any at all. If anything I had more pain behind my ear from the stitches then I did on my actual nose. I did have swelling and bruising on my face for the first few days, but aside from that I felt incredible. My mom and I continued to sight-see and explore Seoul even the next day after surgery and every day after that. (Side note, Seoul is FULL of billboards/advertisements for plastic surgery. That’s how popular it is there. Girls will receive plastic surgery as their graduation gift from their parents after high-school, including rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery, chin surgery.. it is extremely common which is why these surgeons are so highly experienced compared to perhaps surgeons in Canada). Exactly one week post-op Dr. Jin wanted to see me to remove the stitches and cast. He removed both and gave me a mirror to look in. Although I was still swollen and a little bruised, I could notice the difference IMMEDIATELY. The improvement was obvious and I was so happy I almost wanted to cry. It took a few days to get used to my new nose, but I knew I had to be patient for the swelling to reduce more and to become familiar with my new nose. I thanked Dr. Jin for something I truly thought was unattainable at this point, and we flew back to Canada that same afternoon. It has now been exactly one month since my surgery, and I catch myself looking in the mirror feeling so happy that I got this surgery done. I used to look in the mirror and the “wideness” of my nose was the first thing I would notice about my face, it had completely changed the entire appearance of my face. Now when I look in the mirror I don’t even notice or think of that, I just have a natural proportioned face again, nothing “stands out” like it once did in a negative way. I feel so much more confident in myself, my appearance, my photos, and I just feel like myself again. It has been a long process but I am SO glad I found Dr. Jin, because he gave me my life back from something that had been bothering me every single day for so long. I would 100% without hesitation, recommend Dr. Jin for revision rhinoplasty. I am already absolutely thrilled with my results just one month after surgery, and I know that it takes up to a year for the swelling to completely go down. His professionalism, communication, skill and attentiveness is phenomenal and I cant thank him and his outstanding team enough. I hope my experience is helpful to you in your rhinoplasty journey. I had read excellent reviews of Dr. Jin prior to my surgery, and they helped me with my decision so I hope mine will help you with yours as well.
Using hyaluronic acid filler for temporary shape improvement is OK. Permanent fixaton of the thin radix would be filling the thin area with diced cartilage and narrowing the nasal bone width slightly to make the transition smooth. Slight overaugmentation would be necessary for desirable outcome 1 year after surgery considering slight resorption of the cartialge. Thanks.
Narrowing of the bony bridge and alar base reduction are the techniques to achieve the shape you suggested. Too much narrowing or excision of alar tissure needs to be avoided to achieve your goal because it may cause breathing problem. Thanks.
I think your tip is overly stretched so that the nostril shape is not natural. Deprojection of your nose tip would help to regain normal shape of the tip. It will prorbably involve lowering the strut and readjusting the tip cartilage in a natural and original anatomical position. Thank you.
I do not think your tip is bulbous due to diced cartialge. Diced cartilage is probably on the bridge. To find out why the tip is bulbous would provide the answer to improve the tip shape. If it is due to scar tissue, removing scar tissue would help. If the tip cartilage is big, reducing the tip cartilage would help. If your skin is thick, then the effect of surgery would be limited.
High radix is a common problem that makes the nose unnatural in Asian rhinoplasty. Many surgeons try to augment the bridge too high by inserting a big implant. If you had a alloplastic implant to augment the bridge, changing it into a smaller one is necessary. If you had bridge augmentation with autologus cartilage or anything else, revision rhinoplasty that lowers the starting point of the nose is required.
