Where do I even start to begin. I'm 3 wks post op after a revision rhinoplasty. This was my last hope after having 2 unsuccessful rhinoplasty's. I hated my nose. Was so self cautious about it for years. Would hate taking pictures ect. I finally said 3rd time has to be a charm. Found Dr. Peng and from the start I knew she knew what I wanted. She was honest and I felt I would be in the right hands with her. She's very sweet. Her coordinator, MA's, front staff, OR nurse & anesthesiologist were the best. They all make a great team & the process very easy. On day of surgery I was very anxious and nervous. I was 6 hours away from home and my emotions were all over the place. Dr. Peng calmed me down and assured me I was gonna be just fine. I stayed at a recovery center required by Dr. Peng for the first night after surgery because I also had rib cartilage removed. They as well were very good to me. I wish I would have planned to stay one more night but at the same time wanted to get home. Now as far as results. I'm loving them so far. I know I'm only 3 week post op & still very swollen but I'm loving how I look & feel these days. As of right now I can honestly say Dr. Peng has changed my life. She did something that the last 2 surgeons were unable to do. Will update with pictures and a new review in a few weeks. Updated on 12 Jun 2022: Just a little over a month. So far so happy. Still quite a bit swollen at the tip but it’s getting better everyday. Tip is still a little numb as well which tells me I’m definitely still in the healing process. So excited to see my right nostril no longer caves in & my upper nasal bone area is much more narrow like it should be. All after pictures are on right side.
It is my pleasure to recommend Dr. Grace Peng for Botox injections and fillers. She is exceptionally gentle with the needles and is very upfront and honest about what she feels is needed. She actually talked me out of getting Juviderm around my lips and, for the 1st time ever, injected Botox into my neck to smooth the vertical lines from the muscles that become lax as we get older. Dr. Peng is a lovely person, very sweet & friendly, and works together with Dr. Paul Nassif from the show "Botched". Like Dr. Nassif, she is a facial plastic surgeon, and I have no doubt that she does outstanding work. I live south of Tucson, Arizona, but will continue to make the 1000 mile round trip to get Botox from Dr. Peng because she is that good! Updated on 2 Aug 2016: It's been 5 days since Dr. Peng injected botox in my forehead, crows feet, & neck, and my face is unbelievably smooth and clear. All the shallow winkles where she injected the botox are completely gone, my forehead looks amazing, and the vertical lines on my neck are also gone. I look incredible, and will never get botox from anyone local again. Dr. Peng is so gentle and is an expert at turning back the clock. Thank you so much for making 70 the new 40!
I have scheduled a revision rhinoplasty and a lip reduction with Dr Grace Peng. Surgery is in less than a week. I’m excited and extremely nervous. Got a botched nose job 5 years ago and silicone injected into my lips 3 years ago. Updated on 1 Sep 2020: It’s only been 3 weeks since my revision surgery so my nose might still change and magically straighten itself??? That’s hopeful thinking. So by the looks of it my nose didn’t change much just the tip is rounder but my nose is still very much crooked. Oh and my left side has a dent???? I’m so sad. I saved for 5 years to get a revision n it looks the same just wider. I should’ve saved more, you truly get what you pay for. Also had lip reduction done at the same time. I thought it was silicon turned out it was scar tissue. So my top lip looks great but my bottom lip still has the big lumps on the sides. Very disappointing. Updated on 11 Sep 2020: So it’s been one month since my revision rhinoplasty. I had a zoom call with my surgeon n Let her know that my nose was very wide, the sides are not symmetrical and I feel like it’s droopy at the tip she said that it’s still swollen. To give it two years to see the final results. I have no choice but to wait but I think it looks horrible. (Missing my old nose) Updated on 14 Oct 2020: It’s been two months since my revision rhinoplasty. My nose thinned out a little bit but it’s still pretty much huge. Theres no definition to the tip, it’s all round. There’s no symmetry from the sides, one side has a dent to it(on my left). I know that revision rhinoplasties take longer to heal so I’m just hoping it’s all the swelling that is making the tip look round and big. I’m trying to be optimistic and I’m hoping it will look better once it’s completely healed. As of right now I hate it. I feel it doesn’t go with my face. It’s so big makes me look older and manly. Updated on 16 Nov 2020: So it’s been a little over 3 months since I had my revision rhinoplasty. I’m really surprised what a difference a month makes! My nose looks good! At two months my nose looked big and uneven but most of had to be swelling because now it looks more even. I was really upset n even regretted having the procedure done the first two months but I’m actually glad I did it. I just needed to be patient. My nose it’s not 100% perfect but I knew that there would be an 85%improvement going in n that is what I got! It takes about two years to see the final result so there’s more swelling left, it can only look better so I’m looking forward to that. But if nothing changes and my nose stays the way it is I’m definitely happy with the results. Updated on 28 Jan 2021: So it’s been 5 months since I had my revision rhinoplasty. Although at first I didn’t like how my nose looked it started growing on my when the swelling was going down. That was before I noticed a bump on the nose. On November I got a cortisone shot to try to dissolve it, it’s now January and it’s still there. It feels hard, so hoping it’s not bone or cartilage that moved? I will see Dr Peng next month, February and try to figure out what it is. Also had my surgery in August n I still have a runny nose ONLY from my right nostril. Every time I blow my nose there’s blood ONLY on my right nostril. It’s super annoying. I don’t know if it has anything to do with the bump on the side of the nose. Will have to ask Dr Peng. I’m hoping it’s something that can be fixed. I would hate it to have paid 25,000 to have a constantly runny bloody nostril.
Tomorrow is my surgery at Spalding institute with dr grace Peng. I'm very excited and nervous. I will keep everyone updated throughout my journey. It took me a lot of courage to finally do something about this scar. It has always bothered me. when i was 5 years i was playing on top of my sister, suddenly she flipped over and didn't realize the glass table was right next to her. My face landed directly onto the side of the table. I have flashbacks in my memory of my family running around in the middle of the night trying to find a surgeon that could assist me. It took 18 hours before I was taken into surgery. I suppose that didn't help with the healing of the scar. Three years ago I underwent CO2 laser which dramatically improved the scar. For me, it still didn't leave it where I wanted it to be. I understand that scars are forever but I'm pretty sure Dr Peng will be able to improve it. I decided to post my pictures and story because throughout the time I researched I was never really able to find information on this procedure. I know there are others like me that are searching the web for before and after photos. Wish me luck. I will keep updating as time passes by. Updated on 28 Jul 2016: Came out feeling great. Now to wait for the scar to start the healing process. Thus far I don't have any pain. I will tell you that I have a very high pain tolerance. came home and watched Netflix. Updated on 31 Jul 2016: I am three days post op and recovery seems to be going well. I'm taking my antibiotic and continue to care for the scar. I make sure I eat a healthy balanced diet in order to assist my body with the healing process. My next appointment is on Wednesday. I'm not sure if stitches are coming off. So far swelling has been minimal. Updated on 3 Aug 2016: I went today to see Dr Peng for stitch removal. Only 5 days post op. The scar is still swollen and red which is all normal. I have been following all of the doctors instructions and also staying out of the sun. Aside from following the medical instructions I have also made myself a detox green juice that helps promote healing. It has avocado, ginger, celery, cucumber, pineapple and chia seeds. I believe that healing comes from the inside out. The pain has been very minimal and it didn't stop me from performing my daily activities. I joke that my new name is Nelly because I have been wearing a bandage over the scar in order to avoid exposure to the sun. I also don't want my 3 month daughter to slap me. Dr Peng did a fantastic job with the surgery. Her hands are blessed with a gift. I couldn't be happier with the results. The only regret I have is not doing before. Updated on 10 Aug 2016: It has been two weeks since I made the best decision of my life. The scar is healing and slowly fading away. The redness you see in the pictures are from the bandaid. I wore band aids for two weeks in order to avoid the sun from damaging my scar. It was worth the small rash. Updated on 1 Sep 2016: Here are pictures of the one month post op. Thus far the scar has improved tremendously. The color is changing everyday and it is also shrinking. You can still see a little inflammation which is normal. There isn't any pain. I continue to apply my scar gel everyday and stay out of the sun. The results are exceeding my initial expectations. Updated on 5 Oct 2016: Some of you have sent me personal messages asking for a picture of the scar with make up. Here are a few pictures. I am very happy with the results. For once in my life I do not feel like people are looking at the scar. Updated on 19 Jun 2017: It has been a year since my surgery. I'm am beyond grateful to Dr.Peng for my results. The photos show the scar without makeup. I feel confident and like a new person.
Hi, It seems that your mid and upper face appear more symmetric than your lower face. While the scars may be affecting the symmetry, it can also be caused by volume loss. Do you have any weakness of any area of your facial movements or smile? A facelift can help to tighten certain areas of the face, and in some patients an asymmetric facelift (performed on both sides but with slightly different pull and direction) can help improve symmetry. It would be necessary to see you in person to assess your nerve function, your scarred areas, and your asymmetry from various angles. Please consult a board-certified surgeon! All the best,Dr. Peng
Hi!Typically for Kybella injections, the amount and the number of treatments depends on how much pre-platysmal/submental fat (underchin fullness) you have. While 1 vial may seem to be on the low end, for some, it may be sufficient. Each person requires a variable amount of injection. Generally, 2-4 treatments are needed even for those who do not have much fullness in that area. Treatments should be separated by 6-8 weeks. If you have any further questions, please consult a board-certified surgeon and I hope you will achieve your desired results!Best of Luck!Dr. Peng
Thank you for sharing your story with us. Your goals for more defined nose as well as improved symmetry are very reasonable. The limitations would be your thicker skin, and the current support your nose has. Ideally we probably need to give your nose more support in order to push out your tip, hence making it have more definition. This often involves using rib cartilage grafting as the cartilage inside your nose may not be sufficient for such support. Well planned incisions in the side creases (alar creases) of your nostrils can also help with some of the nostril width. I would also recommend dorsal augmentation to bring up the bridge of your nose so that it can match with a more defined tip. Please make sure you consult a board-certified surgeon who also specializes in African-American and augmentation rhinoplasty. Best of luck!Dr. Peng
Botox and other neuromodulators are great ways to elevate the lateral brow. Botox works by effectively weakening the muscles around the eye that pull the brows downward, allowing forehead muscles to lift the brow. With Botox around the "crow's feet" area you should be able to get a slight upward lift of the tail regions of your brow. Looking at your undereye photos, it does seem that you have some hollowing. I prefer belotero for the undereye region and it would serve to fill in the tear troughs that you have and smooth out that whole area. It is always advised to visit a board certified facial plastic surgeon to get a complete consultation for your facial rejuvenation. Good luck!
With just a frontal photo it is a little difficult to see the other aspects of your nose. However, it seems that you have a wide base, and not as much tip definition as you may like. Going to a board certified rhinoplasty surgeon who specializes in African American, Asian, or augmentation rhinoplasty would be very beneficial as your cartilage, bone, and skin soft tissue envelope are all unique. Common grafting techniques used for African American rhinoplasty can include rib cartilage, as well as dorsal augmentation with diced cartilage fascia (DCF) implant which does not include foreign materials. As for the lips, a lip reduction surgery may be possible. For both aspects, it would be best to have an in person consultation to best evaluate your nose and lips. Good luck!!
