QUESTIONS ANSWERED

I'm looking to get Smart Lipo and a mini tummy tuck for my entire stomach and love handles, is anesthesia required? (Photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Thank you for your questions.  In general, Smartlipo does not require general anesthesia.  Having said that, your photographs suggest that you will require a full tummy tuck due to the amount of excess tissue you have.  You may have a large separation of your rectus muscles (the 6-pack muscles) and/or a significant amount of fat underneath your muscles - inside your abdomen - that may not be addressed with a tummy tuck.

An in person physical exam and history will allow an experienced surgeon to give you the best advice to achieve the best result.

Implant change and lipo recovery in time for spring break?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Thank you for your question.  Breast implant exchange should not be a problem as there is already a pocket and there shouldn't be much swelling associated with that portion of the operation.  Liposuction, if there is not much to remove as you said, ought to be well on the road towards the final result, although there may still be subtle changes that will occur over the next few months.  You should be fine for your trip and don't forget the SPF 50 sun protection! Have fun!

How much liposuction do you do with your abdominalplasty? Pictures of abdominalplasty without muscle corsetting? (photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Thank you for an excellent question.  I am asked this question frequently when I consult with patients about tummy tuck surgery.  Blood supply is what keeps tissues healthy.  When blood supply is interrupted, the tissues may not survive.  During a tummy tuck, abdominal skin loses the blood supply from below the incision and deep to the skin.  The blood supply from above and the sides of the abdomen is what is left to nourish the abdominal skin, therefore it must not be traumatized.  Liposuction can potentially stress that blood supply so it must be used carefully and judiciously to avoid any problems.

I am 19 and I weigh 190lbs with a 38DD. Would it be healthy for me to reduce my cup size to a C?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Thank you for your question.  The most important goal of breast reduction surgery is to reduce the volume of breast tissue in order to relieve the very symptoms you are describing.  Back, neck, and shoulder pain are decreased and it is easier to sit upright.  If present, skin problems under and between the breasts may be reduced, and nerve compression at the shoulders affecting the fingers may be resolved. You ought to find a local board certified plastic surgeon with whom to discuss this option.

Can subcision cause more scarring?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

It is likely that the lump you feel represents residual blood and fluid from the subcision and will resolve with time.  It is a good idea to see your doctor to confirm this and to see if the result is as they wanted.

Would injections fix my under eye bags or are mine in need of surgery? (photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Thank you for your question.  I often see young women who have recently developed under eye bags or puffs.  It appears from your photographs that the first line of treatment would be fillers to correct your under eye irregularities.  Please note that an in person examination is much more reliable than a 2-dimensional photograph. I recommend you visit a board certified Plastic Surgeon to further plan treatment.

After a breast lift surgery, what are the steps that are effective to keep them as firm and perky as possible.

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Thank you for your question.  The most important factors in keeping the result following mastopexy are maintaining a stable weight and wearing supportive bras.  Pregnancy and wide fluctuations in weight can stretch skin thereby altering the skin tone.

I have a small uterine fibroid. Will that prevent me from getting a TT or liposuction?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Thank you for your question.  Generally speaking, if there are no symptoms such as irregular uterine bleeding or pain, there should be no problem.  To be certain, I like to speak with the patient's doctor to confirm the safety of moving forward with surgery.

What is the best treatment for forehead wrinkles? Age 33.

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Thank you for your question.  I have found that a neuromodulator, such as Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin, works best as a first step to treat forehead lines.  In my practice, Xeomin has been a popular choice due to pricing and efficacy.  Once muscles are relaxed, you can reassess the forehead to see if  other options are necessary to achieve the look you desire.

I've lost volume in my cheeks, but when I smile really big it all comes back. What procedure should I have done? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Thank you for your question.  In my experience, a long acting biostimulatory filler (one that stimulates the production of collagen) such as Bellafill works very well in this area.  If you would prefer to start with a shorter acting filler to be sure you like the look, Radiesse, also a biostimulatory filler, would be an excellent choice.

45 Year Old, Saline Implant Removal - Wilmette, IL

I had my saline implants for 5 years and they were way too big for my body. 400 CCs. My doctor thought I would prefer that despite having asked to be a C cup, I ended up a DD, at least, sometimes bigger depending on the bra. I hid myself for 5 years. I finally, thanks to the help of many posts, had them removed this past Thursday. I did it under local. Awake with some Ativan. I did not feel any pain, not even the shots at all!!! My doctor was amazing. It took a very short amount of time to perform. My doctor is Elysa Fisher in wilmette, il. I highly recommend her. This is day 3 and still no pain. Virtually no down time, just taking it easy. I get the drains removed Tuesday, I will post then as to how I look. But I feel great. Immediate relief. So happy to be free and myself again!

31 Yrs Old, 2 Kids, 12 Yr Old Implants. Wilmette, IL

After having saline implants over the muscle since I was 19, I finally decided I'm ready to move on to a new chapter in my life. I know God placed it on my heart and was slowly preparing me to get rid of these plastic bags I lugged on my chest, I just never thought the day would come so soon! As an active member of my church, I just felt disingenuous trying to cover up these size D fake boobs all the time and was constantly worrying if someone would notice that I had them. While the church does accept all people and doesn't care what you look like, this was more my own personal battle. My first major was also elementary education and I remember doing student teaching and just feeling like I had to hide them and try to find clothes that would minimize them, in fear of people judging me or thinking I'm a stripper or something. My whole life I've done nothing but try to hide these things and pretend I don't have big boobs- so why even have them?! My parents never knew I got them either, so I was always wearing layers when I'd see them. I had them when I met my husband as well and while he never would come out and say he hates them, I know they just look and feel like plastic bags with all the ripples on the edges. Nothing sexy about that. Actually kind of gross feeling. So then it just happend one morning- I woke up and noticed one breast was smaller than the other and turns out there was a leak in my saline implant. I was actually kind of excited because I knew now was the time to part with them and start a new life being me again-with nothing to hide. I did lots of research on realself and tried to find a good doctor that was honest and that I could trust. I also didn't want to pay more for removing these than I did to get them put in. That just doesn't make sense to me. A lot of doctors I called really have not done explantation without replacement so that was a big concern for me. I didn't want to be talked into a new pair of implants and I didn't want to be the guinea pig either. So finally I came across a review for Dr. Elysa Fisher that sounded exactly what I was looking for. I wanted local anesthesia and a surgeon that knew what they were doing with lots of experience in case anything went wrong. When I had my consultation with Dr. Fisher I just knew this was the right place and I was in good hands. She took so much time to answer my hundreds of questions and really reassured me and gave me honest answers. She never once pressured me into getting them replaced or any other procedure I didn't want. She gave me a good and honest understanding of how my boobs will look after nursing two babies and having implants for so long so I wouldn't be shocked when I did see my natural breasts again. (I only probably had my real boobs for three years of my life from 16-19yrs old)--so I don't even remember what real breast feel or look like! The office was just so gorgeous and beautiful inside. Everything looked really clean and new, a real relaxing environment. The staff was more than friendly and accommodating. Everyone was so kind and supportive of me. My procedure went awesome! It wasn't painful at all ( just felt weird being awake and being able to see it all but it was kind of cool! And that's what I wanted with local anesthesia anyways). Dr Fisher made my incisions very small and even corrected my previous ones. The whole procedure took maybe an hour altogether. Dr. Fisher even gave me her personal cell number to reach her on in case I had any concerns over the next week. Very comforting to have! It is only a week post op and I barely even notice a scar. I had my capsules left in as she didn't think they needed to be removed. My recovery has been quite easy. I wear a compression band around them for a couple of weeks to make sure there is no fluid building up. I could resume my normal "mom" duties the next day. My breast actually looked a lot better than I expected them too and it feels so good to be free and light and not trying to hide anything! I'm so glad I got them removed and so greatful for dr Fisher and her staff!

Excellent Experience with Dr. Fisher for Implant Removal - Wilmette, IL

I called many doctors in the Chicago area to remove my breast implants with local anesthesia. I had them for 3 years and feared they were the cause of my lymphoma. Dr. Fisher went over all of the risks and took time to explain everything involved. She gave me the option of having the implants removed with local anesthesia or general. Since I was searching for local that's the option that I went with. The procedure was done in her office. That morning I was the only patient there so no worries that she was being pulled from room to room while performing my procedure. I was very comfortable during the removal and didn't feel anything more than tugging. The entire procedure took about an hour from start to finish. I was pretty sore the next few days but healed up quickly. I have a small scar at the fold of each breast which is hardly noticeable some 6 months later. I'm very grateful to Dr. Fisher for considering my concerns about the anesthesia and taking such great care during my visits.

Bumpy face - the Bellafill substance formed multiple granulomas

I visited Dr. Fischer’s clinic for a facial Botox injection in 2018. Dr. Fischer stated that she has something even better than Botox and convinced me to have facial fillers with Bellafill instead; she said it’s great and IT WILL BE DISSOLVED WITHIN 5 YEARS. The Bellafill substance formed multiple granulomas (firm masses) which became obviously visible within five years. She BLAMED THE PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANY and said that she did not know about this complication; this is five years after reassuring me that it would dissolve within these five years. She then recommended dissolving the masses with steroid injections. Every time she injected the steroid into my face she announced “Oops! We have another bruise!”. I looked liked I was beaten up with black and blue marks and facial dents. Now, my face is itchy and the firm masses are migrating around my face. When I tried to get my medical records Dr. Fischer become nasty and wanted me “out of her hair”.
