I just had the breast augmentation done. I would like to highly recommended Dr. Hanna. He spent more time for the first consultation and answered all my questions and concerns in extreme patience. I had great experience with his staffs as well, especially April, RN who assisted me pre and post surgery. I had minimal pain and only took 3 pain pills in total. I drove my car (very short distance) to the office for checking up the second day. I am happy with the entire experience.

Thanks Dr. Hanna and Staff continue to do a wonderful service's...Ms. Geraldine Ivey I had a outstanding experience
I have to admit…. I didn’t want to write a review within weeks of my abdominoplasty because I wanted to experience the recovery and “test drive” the new stomach with time. Nearly six years ago I took control of my health. After trying to lose weight for 11 months, I decided to have gastric bypass. That decision wasn’t an easy nor quick fix. I went into that surgery completely aware of the pros and cons, but knew it was the best option for me. Fast forward to this past summer… I ventured out to Dr. Hanna’s office for a “tummy tuck” consultation. Dr. Hanna explained the procedure to me (in detail), drew out on the table paper of what he does during this type of surgery, answered all of my questions (without feeling like I was being rushed), but most of all, he listens to his patients. He’s also a life saver. I cannot thank him enough for identifying that I had an underlying (treatable) condition the day I went into for surgery. It allowed me to stop and think about my health, seek treatment and then get healthy so I could proceed with surgery two months later. Six weeks post-op I am thoroughly happy with the results. He is by far one of my favorite people on this earth. He’s magic. If you’re looking to seek out a plastic surgeon for whatever reason, I highly recommend Dr. Hanna. His work exceeded my expectations. His office staff ladies are lovely. They’re quick to respond phone calls, personable, caring, and very helpful when you need paperwork filed.
Dr. Donald P. Hanna was highly recommended to me by my OB/GYN in 2007, but I did not listen and it cost me (not only financially but mentally too). I had already consulted with a plastic surgeon at Duke and summer was approaching quickly. I wanted my surgery done before bikini season, so I did not seek a second opinion. I went along with all the recommendations from the first plastic surgeon I consulted with and it was a MISTAKE! Not knowing a lot about breast augmentation, except for looking at pics online, I chose exactly what the surgeon recommended and went with sub-mammary silicone gel implants. 6 months after my surgery, my breasts began to harden and appear circular and fixed to my chest. I was so sad and disappointed. I followed-up with the plastic surgeon at Duke and he informed me that all was well and normal with my "breast appearance". He was not concerned about how the implants felt. I suffered with those implants for 3 years before seeking Dr. Hanna's opinion. The final decision to call and schedule a consult with Dr. Hanna was after I was told by a friend that my breasts were hard during our hug good-bye. That comment hurt my feelings tremendously and with 2 small children wanting hugs daily I feared they would one day say the same thing to me. I was seen by Dr. Hanna within a week and my surgery was scheduled within 2 weeks. Dr. Hanna spent one-on-one time with me answering all my questions and addressing concerns. All options were discussed in regards to change of implant placement (sub-mammary vs. sub-muscular) and type of implant (saline vs. silicone). I am so happy to report that I now have soft breasts and they have a very natural appearance. I chose to have saline implants placed sub-muscular. I am not afraid to hug anyone now and I am so pleased with how well my outcome has been compared to my first experience with plastic surgery.
After losing 100+pounds through diet and exercise, understandably I was left with excess skin and some fat on my stomach. When my personal trainer said we couldn't work off what was left, I headed out to find a plastic surgeon. Saw 3 docs and settled on the one I used. He was/is fabulous!! I had a long vertical existing scar on my stomach from a previous surgery decades ago and over time it widened and gotten ugly. He said he would revise that scar too, and repair my umbilical hernia. By revising the scar he could also pull the sides tighter and that would be a WIN for flattening my stomach as well. Scheduled the surgery for late Nov then moved it up...I could not wait!! Was never nervous, anxious or anything. I was ready. Morning of surgery I showed up at the doctor's office for him to draw his surgical "road map" on me. Standing there completely naked and having him study all my "parts" for surgery was a tad uncomfortable but he had done my breast life a few months earlier and there wasn't anything I had that morning he hadn't seen before. I asked if he had a good nights sleep and told him to take this time today during surgery. :-)Apparently things shift when you cut off a lot of skin like that and he had to relocate things like hairlines and improve my mons, etc. I hadn't even consider that stuff. After being drawn on we went to the surgical center. He and I chatted with me on the operating room table until the anesthetic kicked in. Surgery was estimated to be 3-4 hours but it ended up being 6 plus recovery, and I have one drain. I am one week one day post surgery and still cannot stand up straight but I'm definitely better AND I have this wonderfully flat stomach!!!!! Here is how I prepared for surgery: 1) Went on 3 surgical consultations. I loved my doc from the first appt (which was for the breast life and tummy tuck surgeries). He took hours with me and talked to me just like we'd been friends for years - no airs, no pretention, drew me pictures and explained everything in a way I totally understood. Loved him from the start. One doctor didn't even see me for the consult, he sent in a nurse and even she didn't look at me undressed. I knew right then and there he would never be my doctor no matter what. Third guy was well rated (not as good as my doc though), and spent a lot of time with me. I probably would have gone with him if I hadn't met Dr. H. He was the last doctor I consulted with. 2) I hired a CNA to take care of me the first few days. This was a very wise decision. Asking family to help all the time gets old for everyone quickly. That being said my daughter insisted she be the one to pick me up from surgery and tend to me that first day. Then the CNA took over. 3) I set up a "recovery center" in the bonus room. I would spend my time in the recliner/rocker (which is soooo comfortable), so i placed lots of pillows and blankets in it so it was ready to go. 4) Laid out several days of nightgowns/PJs/house dresses to wear and two outfits for doctor visits. 5) Placed an end table next to the chair with comfort items like books/tv remote/ phone and IPAD chargers, etc. kept my RX there and drain items. Let me just say that getting to goal weight wise and really working my core before surgery has made this easier to tolerate, but its still incapacitating. But then I had the Fleur de Lis pattern which is not one but two incisions. My doctor and his staff have been nothing short of wonderful and I am not easy to please. I love my doctor and he never makes me feel like I am imposing or that I am one of many to him. I had a breast lift a couple of months ago (by him) and next year I'll consider doing my arms and/or thighs. In closing, for those of you struggling with a decision to do this. i would say talk to your closest friends, family and doctor about your concerns, but in the end do what YOU want to do. No one else is in your skin. For me, I had no question i was getting it done, and all my family was supportive (though that could be because they knew it wouldn't matter to me since I had made my mind up.) This site was very helpful to me and my contribution here is my way of saying thanks to everyone else brave enough to share their details. I will try and post a picture later today. Updated on 1 Nov 2014: I am 11 days post op and still draining too much so my drain stays put. I can't wait for it to come out. I am ablem to sleep on my side pretty well which is my preferred position. Still have to avoid sneezing, coughing or laughing. Yesterday I went to a meeting and came right home afterward as it exhausted me. I have to remember that it is important not to rush recovery. A lot was removed from me and my body needs to adjust. I also had my umbilical hernia repaired and a scar revises. A nice side effect has been that I. am losing weight even though I am not trying. I will pick a new weight goal once I can cook for myself again and once I can stand up straight and get a good look at myself naked and clothed. I'm guessing 10-15 pounds should do it.
I went to see other surgeons. Others did not take the time to explain the procedure, the implant used, or the risks. Doctor Hanna explained everything and made me feel very comfortable. His staff is great and also added to the experience. I am so glad I met with Dr. Hanna. The end result has changed my life and self esteem.
I, at the time, was a young mother. I was 21 years old, and I desperately wanted a BA. My mother knew a plastic surgeon (she was in the health field at the time), and she recommended I saw him. I mentioned at the consult that I had tuberous breasts, however; I knew they were not as severe as most. On the other hand, I had heard from others that slight/mild tuberous breasts can be the most challenging, because surgeons often think they can 'get by' with just an augmentation. I guess that is what Dr. Hanna in Cary, NC figured he could do. I had the BA, 625CCs, saline, Mentor, smooth, moderate profile, unders on 10/02/2008. I noticed within days that I had a small crease/indent. At my first checkup I asked him about that, plus the 'pointy' shape. He stated that I needed to drop and I would not have that within 6 months. I wore my bra 24/7 (as instructed), I massaged, I did not exercise, and I did everything as instructed during recovery... 6 month check up, my breasts were ruined...seriously. I have a double bubble, I have bottomed out, I have severe lateral displacement, and muscle flexion deformity. I asked him about a revision at my final check-up, because he wanted me to wait the full year before discussing revision. He stated the "most" he could do is tighten the skin underneath the breast, as in fold it in, but said that I would likely not be happy with the breasts because my nipples would be pointed down and almost at the bottom of my breast. He quoted me nearly $3,000. Obviously, this is a surgeon's error, and if he did not feel he had the skill as a PS to correct and implant on a patient with mild tuberous breasts, he should have declined to perform the surgery at all. Instead, I am nearly $5,000 in the hole, and now I am searching for a plastic surgeon that can either a) "fix" my breasts where I can at least stand to look at them or b) explant and do something to make them look as normal as possible. The implants are obviously too large for my frame, as well. He recommended larger implants, and they are constantly sore, and I cannot go without some type of bra for long before my breasts, ribs, and upper back ache. I have incredible stretch marks, especially on the bottom of my breasts. My breasts are ALWAYS in my armpit. I've been married for almost two years, and my husband has yet to see my breasts. Seriously. You'll see why when you look at the pictures. I truly hope that I can find a PS that can perform a revision, however; I would be almost as happy just to get these implants OUT of my chest. You can literally see my 'old'/actual breasts over my plants. You can feel gurgling, air pockets, popping and the implant when touching my breasts. Do NOT see Dr. Hanna. Please do not. I trusted him because my mother knew him and his staff personally, as he had an office in the same medical complex as she does. I also trusted him because of his years of experience and good reviews online. Finally, he is board certified and has been a plastic surgeon for 35 years. However, I can finally afford to correct his mistakes, and I hope these pictures - and my story, will help another person make the right decision and stay AWAY from him.
Today is my post-op appointment with the surgeon. I'm getting really excited but also very nervous! I think I'm the most nervous about the partial lift that he said I needed. I've looked at other people's pictures that have had a lift and the scaring makes me nervous! I'll post more after my appointment! Updated on 18 Oct 2016: So excited we finalized the size today! I can't wait to have more roundness from a side profile and fullness up top! See the size in my picture! I feel like it's very proportional to my frame. Once I lose weight they'll look even better! :)
My story is the same as many other women on this site for this procedure. I started to grow breast pretty early and have always been a large size. I am currently a 40H. I experience daily pain in my back, neck and shoulders. I am always trying to do things to hide my size but of course it doesn't work. Starting in my teenage years (I'm now 38), I was always extremely self-conscious of how I look - never liked have large breast. So it definitely has an impact on you mentally. Shopping for clothes and bras is usually an aggravating experience. Bras cost too much and I always have to pay to get my clothes altered. My doctor suggested a breast reduction about two years ago and I finally gave it some serious thought. My doctor referred me to a great surgeon and my consultation went very well. I have been gathering several documents so the surgeon's office can submit to my insurance. As soon as I receive a letter from my doctor, everything will be ready to submit to insurance. I'm so excited and nervous at the same time. I'm hoping to have my surgery approved and scheduled very soon. I'm grateful for everyone who have provided their own reviews. The feedback has been wonderful. Updated on 22 Jul 2016: I was hoping to add some good news today but my insurance company denied me. So disappointed!! If anyone has been denied but got an acceptance later, please offer some advice. Updated on 8 Aug 2016: I'm so happy to say that my insurance finally approved my surgery!! I'm so glad that I didn't give up. I presented new information and got an approval this time. Later this week I will find out my surgery date. This seems so unreal!! I'm so happy to finally be on the path to get rid of these heavy breasts!! I won't have to deal with this pain anymore!!!!! Updated on 8 Aug 2016: Updated on 9 Aug 2016: I was so excited this morning to receive my surgery date - September 27th!!! The countdown begins! Please feel free to offer any suggestions about the surgery and recovery. Updated on 20 Aug 2016: My surgeon's office told me to get a compression sports bra to wear after surgery. They told me to get the size that fits me now. I don't understand why I would get my current size since I will be smaller after surgery. Updated on 20 Apr 2017: I had my procedure approved by insurance last year but had to cancel due to financial reasons. So of course I was so upset by that! But things are better now and I'm going for this again. I have my consultation on May 16th. So I'm hoping and praying for another approval from my insurance. Updated on 16 May 2017: I mentioned in my last update that I had to cancel my surgery last year, so I'm trying again this year. I had my consultation today. So now is the wait to hear from insurance. Hopefully they will approve it again. Updated on 16 Jun 2017: I received awesome news today - my insurance company approved my procedure!!! It only took 2 days. I'm so excited! Next week I will know my surgery date. This is a great way to start my weekend. Updated on 20 Jun 2017: I finally have my surgery date - August 8th!!! I'm so excited and of course a little nervous. Feel free to provide and suggestions. Updated on 8 Aug 2017: I'm counting down and so ready!! My back pain has increased greatly! I can't stand long doing anything (cleaning, getting dressed, talking to someone, etc) without my back hurting. I'm ready to get rid of this pain and enjoy smaller boobs. Updated on 17 Aug 2017: I'm getting sooo excited about my surgery!! I am a little nervous but more excited than anything. I can't wait to get on the other side and begin healing. This is the one and only time I want the weekend to fly by!! Updated on 23 Aug 2017: Tomorrow is my big day!!! I had my pre-op appointment today, so I'm getting more excited. I can't wait to see my results. Updated on 24 Aug 2017: My surgery went well. It was supposed to take 4 hours to complete but was an additional 1.5 hour. I have my post-op appointment in the morning. Currently, I don't have much pain to deal with. My voice is still hoarse from the tube that was in my throat. I'm still moving a little slow while the medication works its way out of my body. I have some pictures here. I will post more in the coming days. Updated on 1 Sep 2017: Hello everyone. I officially made it to week one post-op. I am feeling pretty good. As usual, waiting on the swelling to go down. I had a follow-up appointment today. My doctor said everything looks good. I was initially concerned about my nipple area since my breast were so long and huge. But my doc said they look fine. The white strips should come off next week or so. I can finally take showers now without worrying too much about the water and soap getting near my incision area. I could take them before but had to be super careful. I am itching a little. My doctor suggested Benadryl. I had some Allegra and took that since it is an antihistamine also and it has worked so far. Updated on 11 Sep 2017: Thursday of this week will officially be three weeks post-op. Thankfully my incision is healing pretty good. The swelling has decreased some but I still have a little ways to go. The bottom incision is still a little stiff. I had a doctor appointment today and my doctor said everything is healing well. As you will see in the pictures, a few areas on the bottom incision are open. But my doctor said those areas will heal on their own.
