Certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Dr. Derek Ford has offices in Oshawa and Toronto. He performs procedures including eyelid surgery, facelift, breast augmentation, and tummy tuck on men and women.
Dr Derek Ford performed the following procedures on me: Deep Plane Face Lift, Deep Plane Neck Lift with Fat Grafting, and Full-Face Laser Skin Resurfacing. I felt no pain afterwards, and took merely Tylenol as prescribed to assist with reducing swelling, and whatever minimal discomfort I might otherwise feel. I am thrilled with the results. People keep complimenting how refreshed and relaxed I look! One person asked if I was wearing contacts (I don't wear glasses) as my face looked so good. No more sagging neck and jowl lines like a marionette. Now my neck and face match how I feel. Now both my appearance and my mind feel 20 years more youthful. As a critical bonus, Dr Ford provides his personal cell number. The first weekend after surgery, I text him and he responded immediately. Numerous other times, I have called and immediately received advise from his staff. Dr. Ford's office is clean and bright, and every one of his staff, is professional very friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and patient. I highly recommend Dr. Ford. His work is superlatively excellent, and his staff, very welcoming.
I had very nice experience. I am glad I picked that doctor. I had facelift and lower bliferoplasty. Smooth recovery. Good results. Respectful doctor. Always on time. Good staff. I believe the price was right too.
He is an amazing doctor. A powerfully gifted surgeon and kind human being. I feel so fortunate to have gotten my mommy makeover with Dr. Ford. He truly changed my life on June 22, 2021. He performed a tummy tuck and a breast reduction on me. It went very smoothly. I could not be happier.
I don't know where to start. I've wanted a rhinoplasty procedure for as long as I can remember, (I'm over 35.) After talking to a close friend of mine about her experience with Dr. Ford, I decided to book a consultation with him. The entire process from consultation to paperwork to procedure day and recovery was so easy. Dr. Ford employs an amazing staff who are very helpful and kind. I am currently 2 weeks post op and I'm blown away with my results, so far. During my consultation, like a well rounded surgeon, he also informed me on what other procedures may compliment my goals alongside rhinoplasty. I never felt pressured to have anything done that I didn't chose myself and I so appreciated the fact that he continued on with the discussion. It was only after reviewing my before and afters that I decided I wanted to add on chin lipo + J Plasma. I value above all else, a surgeon who leads with safety and is discerning in their approach. Dr. Ford didn't come across as a "yes" man as he very carefully went over limitations and expectations. This portion of the discussion was crucial for me because it helped me feel confident that the outcome would be a success. And it absolutely was. After talking about the modifications and goals of my "after," everything there on out was easy. I always felt confident. With various phone calls and emails, I never felt like I wasn't a priority. (Thank you Katherine and Phil.) I remember waking up from surgery feeling excited and calm. You really do feel a sense of security during this entire process. A close friend of mine and a few nurses I know have come across Dr. Ford in one way or another and 100% of these people had nothing but great things to say about him. (Even my requisition nurse raved about him. Like honestly, what are the odds??) But you wouldn't know how popular Dr. Ford is by merely talking with him. He is incredibly humble and professional. I have little else to say but that this was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Thank you, Dr. Ford. You have truly restored my confidence.
I knew I chose my surgeon well, everyday since the surgery has confirmed it more and more and I could not be happier :D I was a 32 E. found my breasts heavy, had lots of upper back/shoulder pain. Even think it’s been a cause for my constant headaches. But they also looked odd to me. Very large areolas, sagging down because of the weight of them. Just always wanted to help them into a better shape. And Dr Ford has done AMAZINGLY. He is so attentive and truly listens to his patient’s desires and details. He’s incredible in his field and it shows when he talks about the procedure and his opinion. He truly executed if not even better than what I wanted. I was specifically looking for the “elizabeth hall-findlay” method which does not use an anchor approach but rather a lollipop approach, which luckily I was a candidate for. Only 5 days post surgery and am so pleased! I cannot stop looking at the pictures I took. It’s like the incisions are already invisible to me so much I like the result. I recommend him if you’re considering breast reduction! Or any surgery at all! - Thank you Derek! Will keep posting photos of the process Updated on 6 Mar 2021: Update! So far so good! At 1 week mark, went in to change the surgical tapes and a smaller amount were put. I can really see the big preview of my improved boobies. I was hesitant to shower so much since I don’t want the tapes to fall off. But turns out they hold on pretty good. And clean body is better for healing ;) In about 2 weeks i’ll be able to start applying a silicone gel to help the scars heal as best as they can. I am driving back to Quebec tomorrow (i’m not driving, someone will be driving as I do not want to do excessive arm movements) and hopefully the healing continues to go smoothly! Will update later on to show progress! Updated on 17 Mar 2021: Quick update of how everything it going! I’m pretty much 3 weeks post up now. The tapes are still holding and ive changed 2 at the bottom of one of the breast that were getting weaker. Much less swelling already. I was wearing a medium wireless support bra until a few days ago I went down to a small as the medium didn’t offer much support as swelling went down. I’ve attached a before and after piccollage photo for comparison. I am able to move my arms much more and do more things now. Without feeling like my boobs/incisions will break. Very comfortable now. Areolas/Nipples are flaking a lot! I feel like a snake. Their pink color is coming back day by day. There is still yellow on my breast, it’s going down a bit more every day. Tomorrow I can start applying silicone gel to help the scarring! Updated on 24 Mar 2021: Tapes are off! I can begin applying silicone gel daily to help the scars heal good. Note that the darker areas over the areola is dried blood that was under the tape! It’s a weird feeling mot having the tapes on. They were sticking very good. But now I can start caring for the scars which is great. My right breast (left on photos) is still more sensitive and has bruising left (yellow) Updated on 14 Oct 2021: Hello, Here is for everybody who wanted an update photo. It’s been about 7 months since the surgery. All is well! I’m pretty much fully healed, the redness from the scars will take time to fade away as i am 22 years old so my skin marks a lot more than more mature skins. And I have a tendency to mark more in general. That said, the result is amazing and beyond my expectations. I really feel good in my body and Dr Ford did an amazing job giving me breasts that match my body. I apply silicone gel less often than i should, i did once daily for few months after the surgery, now I do maybe twice a week. But should be doing it more consistent like my skincare :) Sorry for The messy background! Hope this review helps!! Updated on 28 Jul 2022: Here is the final update. See the official photos of my before and after, 1 year appart, taken earlier this year in may. Scars continue to heal and lighten daily. Looking great! And finally started purchasing bras, a bit late on that. But final size is 32D! Previous was 32E sometimes F depending on models. Overall it was a great experience! Amazing surgeon, so glad I chose him. Amazing recovery, amazing services, more than happy with the result! Would totally do it again :D
I'm a 47 year old professionnel and I have wanted a BR since my mid 20s. I wanted to wait until I had children so I would have a greater chance to breastfeed. By the time I had both children, we started moving ofter for my husband's work and I never did find the time to schedule my surgery. Living in Canada, I wanted the surgery to be covered by the provincial medical coverage. The BR was covered but not the liposuction to the back or used to reshape the breast to a more natural shape. Updated on 3 Jan 2021: The first few days have been a blur. I slept and took my pain meds around the clock. I have to say that it is the liposuction that is causing the most discomfort. I did not realize how much my body was aware of the drains until they were removed! What a relief in my comfort level! All is well that is progressing well!! The incisions are beautiful, Dr Ford did a wonderful job and I am very pleased with it all! Updated on 3 Jan 2021: I am so happy with the results! I can find relief in my back and the scares are healing beautifully, I cannot wait to see the end results! The scare on the left breast is a bit more raw but it is still closed and that is what counts for me. The scars for the drains are on the side of the vertical scars but I think they will be unnoticeable once all healed
If your thinking of getting a tummy tuck, I would suggest choosing the right doctor with creditable reviews!!! I’m extremely happy with my decision and outcome of this procedure. It was a very difficult healing process but nothing I didn’t expect. I’ve still got a little swelling in my lower abdomen, but healing everyday.
Dr. Ford is amazing!!! I just had my full tummy tuck & posterior liposuction done 2 weeks ago and my results are outstanding. Dr. Ford and his team were wonderful, they answered all my questions, and made me feel so comfortable. At my consultation Dr. Ford covered so much information I didn't really have to ask him any questions, he was very thorough. My results have surpassed my expectations and it's only been 2 weeks, I am very excited to see my results once I'm fully healed!
Dropped 100lbs over 2years ago and keeping 80lbs off for the entire last 2years, with healthy and active lifestyle. Have always loved my curves at any size. My intense workouts created a hernia in my umbilicus which lead me to research getting rid of the excess skin at the same time...leading me to interviewing 3 surgeons and locking in on Dr.Derek Ford. Who by the way will win your heart in the first 1minute. I met him virtually because of COVID-19 and his technical and professionalism came thru and he is very sensitive to your concerns and questions but is relaxed as he performs abdominoplasty routinely and only needs word of mouth to drive his referral base. I have friends and colleagues that have been to him and his work is really artistic but firstly safe. He will not sacrifice safety ever. We aligned on abdominoplasty with hernia repair scheduled for Oct1 2020 understanding the Covid related risks as well if we land into a second wave and the extra quarantine that would be required for my safety during recovery. I thankfully work from home and have a huge support system for my family, so I prepared by taking my multivitamins and doing lots more exercise to strengthen my legs and arms so that recovery would be easier and took 1 hour daily walks until the day before surgery. Here are some pics that motivated my decision to go forward, knowing full well my confidence in these pictures was already present and my choice was more related to the health benefits. Updated on 14 Oct 2020: Surgery went as planned, overnight stay was amazing. I had 2nurses that took care of me for the night. I was thrilled that I was approved for in-home nurse visits for the first week of healing even during the COVID-19 second wave so they could clean and change my dressings. I came off all pain killers within 72hours and was consistent with all other Meds and guidance from Dr.Ford. These pics are from day2 and day8. I had the drains in for a full week and Dr.Ford removed them easily on my first week day7 follow up. I am healing better than anticipated and was advised to start the scar cream at 3weeks. I had some questions about swelling and bruising and Dr.Ford was so quick to reply via text (did I mention they take such good care of you) I am writing this review on Day13 post-op and I really feel great. I am getting up every hour and walking around my house. Today I ventured outdoors and walked around the block. They only thing I notice is that you get exhausted quickly, so listen to your body. Also, I had insomnia for the first week, an apparent side effect of the anaesthesia but since back into my sleep rhythm by day8. Currently on no meds but taking multivitamins and extra vitaminC+zinc to promote healing Total weight loss from surgery is 3-5lbs depending on swelling from day to day and I can’t wait to get back into the gym but I will wait for the full 6weeks as I did have diastasis repair as well. Some of my tips: 1. wedge pillow for your legs and back, easily found on amazon, no need for toilet raiser, the feeling you have is similar to a c-section 2. Make sure to move and walk every 1-2hours to get things flowing 3. Food - I am low carb lifestyle so during healing phase, I intermittent fast and sip on broth all day, love flow alkaline water and made a probiotic packed shake with spinach and blueberries daily. Keeps me energized and ‘regular’ also have salmon, turkey (from thanksgiving) and eggs. The only tough part is the quarantine for 2 weeks and everyone in your home needing to wear masks around you but we quickly made it fun. I returned to work from home on Day5 only because I was feeling great but was getting pretty exhausted. So far so good. I will post another update in November. I hope this helps those thinking about this surgery and this surgeon. Updated on 15 Oct 2020: Feel like this is a milestone, not sure why just feel better and energized. Some swelling on he right side of the belly button above the Incision line which fluctuates from day to day but otherwise great! Here are pics from today. Updated on 29 Nov 2020: Looking back just 2months ago, what a difference already. The swelling continues to come down and I sized down my binder last week as I start working out again. Just go slow, I got the ok to workout again and went a bit to strong out the gates and got a bit of bleeding out of my belly button, which quickly healed with a bit of polysporin cream. I have been using Dermatix scar cream since week 3 every night and the line is already fading. Total weight loss from day of surgery is 13lbs but only because I have remained intermittent fasting and low carb the entire healing time. I have staples of bone broth daily to support mineral needs for healing and a green smoothie packed with spinach Age quencher collagen protein and I make sure to 8hours of sleep daily. Trust the process and follow the guidelines and you will be very happy with the results. Updated on 21 Dec 2020: So this is now a new normal, I put scar cream on every night and I take daily walks and have started light training 5 days a week back in my home gym. I am taking it slow...like really slow. I tried to do a single sit up and was shaking. I modified to do a plank and couldn’t hold it longer than 10secs. However, I am really pleased with the results. I still wear my compression garment most of the day (for comfort and security) and if I am going out, I wear spanx equivalent for a couple of hours. I have had some off days with some bloating and soreness but otherwise, still eating healthy and trying to get more sleep as well. Happy Holidays! Updated on 13 Jan 2021: Things are starting to settle in my abdomen, still no feeling below belly button to Incision line but I am doing a 15min nightly massage to increase blood flow and lymph drainage. I did go to get a lymphatic massage as well and it has help overall with the elasticity as everything feels so stiff. My belly button is also starting to loosen and open up and I wear stage2 garment during the day and only where the brace when sleeping or working out. The body is so amazing and it’s ability to heal is so magical. Updated on 23 Jan 2021: I had a 3month check in with Dr.Ford this week. He is always so detailed and focused on how you feel about your results. He was thrilled with my healing this far and encouraged me to continue my nightly 15 massage of the scar and he even said parts of the scar are starting to fade. He still sees some swelling which will continue to reduce over time but I was excited to tell him that I was able to hold a plank for 20seconds and he encouraged me to continue to exercise and use the scar cream until the scar is no longer elevated. Overall, feel great and thankful I chose him and his team for this life changing surgery. Updated on 3 Mar 2021: Back into regular exercise routine, still applying scar cream 2times/day but softness in abdominal area is more pronounced and my abdomen is getting stronger with no restrictions to abdominal exercises. The numbness in the area below the belly button is ongoing and some days more swollen than others, but all part of the healing. Very happy with the results of this procedure. Updated on 8 Apr 2021: Return fully into normal routine, workout intensity and abdominal workouts as well. Very happy with this decision. I have some areas of concern that we’re not addressed at the time of surgery for safety but I will revisit after a full year of healing. Swelling and loss of sensation still comes and goes and still putting scar cream and scar strips on. Updated on 8 Apr 2021: The best part about this repair is that you can really start to see definition in your abdomen and it is motivating to workout not only for maintaining results of surgery but also for improvement of overall physique and strength. Updated on 28 May 2021: I continue daily ab exercises and my abs get very sore and lots of tightness but it is expected. A full year of recovery is realistic and I am getting Chinese acupunture and lymphatic massages monthly to support my healing and continue to put on dermatix scar cream daily. I have zero restrictions at this point but want to get the best possible outcome of this investment in my health. Here is a before and after side split that is self explanatory and I am thrilled with the care Dr.Ford has provided me. Updated on 5 Oct 2022: Well I made it! I can’t believe this journey and he results have just gotten better with time, self care and regular lymphatic massage. Dr.Ford discharged me at the one year mark and informed me hat if I lose some more weight and focus on ab workouts I will see even better results by the end of second year and he was right! I have never felt more confident, stronger both physically and mentally. My scar is still visible and I haven’t done any additional micro-needling or laser as it is perfectly covered in a bikini or underwear. Thank you for following my journey and if you are looking for a realistic and specialized surgeon, look no further than Dr.Ford and his amazing team
I had a tummy tuck, abdominoplasty, breast lift and reduction done by Dr.Ford From the first time I met with him, he made me feel very comfortable. He listens to your questions and concerns and sets you at ease (Even the day of the surgery he was great) I’m so happy with my results, He surpassed my expectations 100% Wonderful staff also!
Using a neuromodulator such as Botox may alter the position of your eyebrows. It would be best to consult with your surgeon as to if this treatment is reasonable prior to your surgery.
Thank you for your question. Traditional skin muscle blepharoplasty may have an increased incidence of changing the shape of the lower eyelid in some patients. It is important to recognize that as we age, the tissues around the eye undergo a loss of fat volume, as well as a laxity in the skin, muscle and supporting ligaments. A blepharoplasty approach is suggested that preserves and repositions fat to blend the lower eyelid into the cheek. The lower eyelid muscle and ligaments at the outer corner of the eye are tightened with an aim to contour and support the lower eyelid. The skin is then conservatively excised. This approach has the aim of preserving the shape of your eyelid and providing the most natural result and safe outcome. Although a transconjunctival approach may result in favorable results in some patients, the procedure does not effectively address muscle laxity and lower eyelid support.
It can be frustrating waiting for the results of cosmetic surgery to really show, but 2 weeks after the procedure is too early to gauge your ultimate outcome. You may be disappointed now, but the appearance of your eyelids likely will change in the next week or 2 as the body continues to resolve the swelling you describe. If you remain dissatisfied after that point, you should wait at least 6 months before scheduling another procedure.
Eyelid surgery results should last for many years — and for the rest of your life, you will always look better than you would have without surgery. However, the aging process does continue after having cosmetic surgery. Without photos or knowledge about the details of your previous surgeries, it's not possible for me to say whether you need a follow-up upper and lower eyelid surgery. If you undergo a brow lift, that may produce a slightly more rested and alert appearance without additional eyelid surgery.
I say "probably" because it's not possible to provide a definitive answer about which procedure is best-suited for you without a photo. Generally speaking, if the excess skin is part of the eyelid, then blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) is the answer. In some cases, however, when a patient tells me that have excess skin over the eyelid, it is actually a sagging brow that's responsible for it. In that situation, a brow lift (possibly combined with eyelid surgery) is needed to produce the desired results. Be sure to consult with a qualified and highly trained plastic surgeon who can personally examine you.
