Because you deserve support in addition to reconstruction after a mastectomy I highly encourage you to make a consultation with Dr. Light and his amazing team. My first lumpectomy was 10 years ago making my reconstruction more difficult because I had reconstruction and radiation at that time. When cancer returned I choose to undergo bilateral mastectomy. I hadn't yet learned of NYBRA and had less than desirable results. I was grateful to be referred by a friend to Dr. Light at NYBRA. Meeting Dr. Light I immediately felt my voice was heard. He was patient and kind and answered all my questions that my previous PS did not. I was introduced to his support staff and many opportunities to gain insight and available resources for support were offered immediately. My surgery went amazingly well from start to finish I was treated with kindness and compassion making me feel at ease. Dr. Lights skills are evident by the results he achieved. Where I had felt damaged by cancer I now feel whole. I feel confident that I can move on – a survivor.
Dr. Light corrected an issue I had from a prior breast augmentation. He not only corrected it, he gave me a natural and beautiful looking result. The surgery was very easy to heal from. He answered all my questions and took his time doing so. I am very grateful for his expertise and so very happy that I found him to perform my revision breast augmentation.
From the second I met Dr. Light to the actual procedure, I immediately knew I found the right doctor because I felt so comfortable and knew I could trust him. My breast augmentation procedure went so beyond smoothly including the recovery, and I am so satisfied with my results. Highly recommend Dr. Light
Dr. Light is an amazing surgeon with the most incredible bed side manner. From my first consultation I knew he was the doctor for me. Not only did Dr. Light exceed my expectations in terms of the outcome, but Dr. Light's professionalism, expertise and genuine care throughout the entire process were remarkable. Dr. Light is an incredibly skilled surgeon and also possess a warm and caring demeanor that instantly put me at ease. From the initial consultation to the follow-up appointments, Dr. Light demonstrated genuine concern for my well being and made sure I felt supported throughout the entire process. I couldn't be happier with my results and this would not be possible without Dr. Light and his amazing team. I highly recommend Dr.Light!
You will not find a more professional, kind, understanding and knowledgeable surgeon. Dr. Light was wonderful to work with before, during and after the surgery. I had met with a few other surgeons prior to meeting Dr. Light. I was disheartened by the egos I encountered and the lack of professionalism in the industry. Dr. Light was professional from our first encounter. He listened to my needs and was always honest and caring. He made himself available when I had questions or concerns. He cares for his patients and is invested in them having a great outcome. I am thrilled with my outcome. He gave me back the stomach I had prior to having kids. It's a dream come true.
Dr. Light is the most compassionate and skilled doctor out there. He made my cancer journey so calming. He transformed my body into something amazing. I highly recommend him. He turned my body into one I now love. Love him!! I can’t say enough about his skills. The best!!
I highly recommend Dr. Light. He is extremely knowledgeable, sincerely kind, present, and fully involved in my care. He answers all my questions patiently. I am very satisfied with my results. The office staff is also professional and friendly.
Having been diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time, I was on auto pilot when my breast surgeon sent me to NYBRA, and Dr. Light. I can’t say that I connected with him right off the bat or remember much of what was said because I was shell shocked. I did everything the doctors told me to do with little feeling at all. The morning of my diep procedure it all hit me like a ton of bricks. I was shaking from head to toe and Dr. Light put a comforting hand on my arm and told me I was going to be fine. I’ll never forget that he held my hand as I was going under and he was holding my hand again when he woke me up from surgery to tell me everything went great. It’s been over four months and I’m not even finished yet, (my choice), but I keep looking at my breasts and how great they look. He’s amazing. Dr. Light is amazing as a physician and even more amazing as a person. I still have to have nipples made, but I’m not nervous in the least about what they will look like. I’ll be 56 this year and I love the look of my chest. I have recommended him to everyone from Nassau to Suffolk County. Having cancer and surgery sucked but having beautiful breasts and not having to wear a bra is priceless!
Dr. Light is an amazing surgeon with the best bedside manner. From my consultation with him I knew he was the surgeon for me. Any questions I had throughout the process he answered directly. Not a PA but the doctor himself. All pre-op and post-op appointments were with Dr. Light as well and after speaking to a few surgeons, seems to be uncommon these days. Some surgeons just see you in the operating room, but not Dr. Light. He was accessible and still is. I'm 6 months post-op as I write this review and could not be happier with my breast reduction. Literally the best decision I made was picking Dr. Light as my surgeon. My breasts and scars are beautiful. Thank you Dr. Light for making me happy with my body again. My body is now perfectly proportioned.
I had an abdominoplasty with Dr. Light and could not be happier with the results. I just saw my before and after photos and what a great result. Dr. Light and his team were absolutely amazing. He was so caring and professional. He has excellent bedside manner. I wholeheartedly recommend him with no reservations.
Thank you for your question. Based on the photos you provided, it appears as though you have a significant amount of skin laxity in your lower abdomen. Liposuction could thin this area, but lipo alone will not address the excess skin. Given you already have the scar from your first abdominoplasty, it may make sense to excise the excess skin and get back the flat abdomen you had before. I hope this helps. Good Luck! Thank you for your question. Radiation usually begins 4-6 weeks after surgery if all goes well with your healing. If there are any issues with healing then radiation may be delayed until your surgeon is comfortable that your incisions are healed well enough to begin radiation. If you require an revisions following your radiation (ex: fat grafting, scar revisions, nipple reconstruction), then that procedure will likely be delayed 4-6 months until your skin has recovered from radiation. I hope this helps. Good luck. Regards, David Light, MD, FACS
Hi. Thank you for your question. Without seeing photos or examining you it is difficult to give a tailored response, but based on the information you provided I can make a few comments. If your breasts are currently "sagging", that will usually worsen after an explant. If your goal is to achieve a rounder and perkier breast shape then a lift may be advantageous. It sounds like you've already had a lift before which means your previous scars could be used to perform another lift. I would recommend a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to help guide you through some of these decisions. I hope this helps. Good Luck!David Light, MD, FACS
Thank you for your question. Based on the photo that you provided, it appears your nipple position is already rotated downwards on the left breast. Following your explant, your overall breast volume will decrease and will result in further lowering of the nipple position. It is likely that a breast lift would improve your breast shape. A lift (mastopexy) would not only elevate your nipple position, but would allow for tightening of the skin to achieve a rounder, perkier shape. You may also be a candidate for an auto-augmentation which includes rearrangement of excess skin and tissue to maximize breast size and projection. I would recommend a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon. Following a thorough examination, a tailored and more accurate plan can be formulated. I hope this was helpful. Good luck,David Light, MD, FACS
Hello and thank you for your question. The density of your breasts will not make a capsulectomy more difficult. Your breast capsule is located around the implant and is dissected off of the overlying breast tissue. During the capsulectomy the breast tissue is not entered unless your are undergoing a breast lift so the density of the breast will not play a significant role. If you have textured implants, especially Allergan biocell textured implants, I would recommend having preoperative imaging to rule out an implant rupture and fluid collections around the implants that would raise suspicion for BIA-ALCL. I hope this helps. Good Luck,David Light, MD, FACS
