Excellent. I had 2 procedures with Mr Gault. One repairing a disfiguring bleeding swelling on my lip. The other my nose collapsed on one side. Quite apart from the fact I could not breath properly, my nose spread over my face and was bent!
I had ear reduction surgery by David Gault on the 6th of August 2019 at the clementine hospital. I am very happy with the fact that my ears are a much better shape at the top and no longer look pointed!!! and no longer stick out of my hair - I do however wish that I'd have said that I preferred him to go just that bit more on the excision that he made to have made them look just that bit smaller. On the whole what I had done is amazing and there's no scarring to be seen. I would totally and utterly recommend David Gault with ear reduction surgery - he definitely is amazing at what he does!!! So thank you
After 30 years discerning over my ears I finally took the plunge to se Mr Gault. There are some negative comments about his approach but I found him to be a witty person with a self depreciating dry humour. He told me he would help and what he could do and a few weeks later I went to the Clementine in Harrow and underwent the procedure under local sedation. The following week was loooong !! Bandaged up it when I want back to London and the sutures were removed I was more than impressed with he results. Amazingly nobody even mentioned my ears unless I told them which pays testament to natural sculpture and skill of the surgeon. Thanks Mr Gault and also a word to the theatre nurses at the Clementine who were also first class.
I would like to start of by saying a massive thank you to David, he has literally changed my life, I have had a ear re shape to make my ears smaller in shape under a local anaesthetic at the clementine Churchill hospital in London, I would also like to mention the nurses that was present during the surgery also helped massively they was lovely and kept me at ease throughout the procedure, you can tell David Gault takes great pride in his job and is a very talented surgeon, I couldn’t believe the difference in my before and after neither could my friends and family, my experience was excellent and defiantly worth the traveling distance I am over the moon, once again thank you
Hello All, I want to reduce the size of my ears in terms of height and width. They do not protrude significantly. I have been told that I have enlarged ears due to: - The scapha portion of the auricle - Poor development of the superior inner ear fold / loss of some of the contour of the antihelix (inner fold) of the upper part of the ear. I personally also feel that my conchas are too wide. I have been doing research on the surgeons who perform Macrotia surgery and unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be many. When I have researched Drs and/or Macrotia, the following names have come up: - Dr John Hilinski (San Diego, USA) - Dr David Gault (London, UK) - Dr Charles Thorne (New York, USA) - Dr Rene Schumann (Düsseldorf, Germany) At the moment it seems I am most likely to go with Dr Hilinski, based on his before/after images but also price. I would have considered Dr Thorne further I think, but the cost I have been quoted is more than twice what Dr Hilinski quoted - that's NYC for you I guess... I am based in Europe but willing to travel ANYWHERE for this surgery, if any of you out there on the RS forum could recommend Drs and ideally provide before/after photos that would be very much appreciated. Feeling quite lost at the moment as it's appears to be such a niche surgery and there aren't that many skilled surgeons that perform this type of surgery as most seem to specialise in pinning protruding ears closer to the head - pinning my ears closer to my head would not solve my situation. Updated on 16 May 2018: To give you (a somewhat crude) indication of what I dislike about my ears, I have added my profile (far left) next to some typical female ears. Here you can see how much larger my ears are in comparison. Ugh! Updated on 20 Nov 2018: As the title suggests I have been for a consultation with Dr David Gault in London. He advised that the upper part of my ear could be reduced and pinched my ear (as in the 2nd and 3rd picture) to show me what the outcome could look like. He also suggested that I get my earlobes reduced slightly. The price difference between getting just the upper part / the upper part and the earlobes reduced was about £1,500. In the picture you see my current ear (1st), upper ear reduced (2nd) and upper ear and earlobe reduced (3rd). I am currently trying to decide whether I want to go with option 2 or 3. With option 3 the height of my ears with naturally be overall smaller, however, at the same time I wonder whether option 2 is more likely to give me the desired shape I want, i.e. an oval shape (don't want a round shape). I did mentioned my desire to have my concha bowls narrowed, however, Dr Gault advised that he thought that with option 3 I would no longer feel the need to have them reduced. Hmmm... Updated on 12 Jan 2019: Hello everyone, This is just a quick update to let you know that I have booked my surgery with Dr Gault for the 15th January. In the end I decided to "only" reduce the top part of my ears, i.e. I am not having a earlobe reduction as well. Initially I was planning on postponing my surgery until I had saved up the money (as I did with my rhinoplasty), however, impatience got the better of me and I decided to take a personal loan. I have never taken a loan before and I have not got a credit card so the whole thing was rather intimidating at first. But I believe it has been worth it seeing as the total interest for the £4,500 I have borrowed is around £500. This means that I will be paying around £400 per month for the next 12 months. I am currently in a fortunate position whereby I am not paying for rent or a mortgage so the timing has been pretty good. Besides, my nose and ears have always been my two 'issues' with my appearance and so seeing as I have had the rhinoplasty done already, I sort of just wanted to get the ear surgery over and done with in order to begin the rest of my life, unbothered about the above! This does not obviously mean that a personal loan is suitable for everyone and I would advise anyone considering applying for one to thread carefully, you would not want to end up in debt because of plastic surgery! The payment process was straightforward, once I had decided on my surgery date I called up Dr Gault's office and booked myself in. In order to reserve a slot you will need to pay the anaesthesia fee (local, £350) and the surgery fee (£3,495). Once the payment had been processed I received a email booking confirmation and a few days later I got a letter in the post from the hospital with instructions on how to pay the hospital fee (£618). At the moment I am feeling satisfied with my decision but obviously somewhat nervous at the same time. I trust Dr Gault's knowledge and expertise, I just hope that he understands what my vision is. I think he found me rather annoying because I brought pictures of ears that I liked/disliked to my consultation but I rather be safe than sorry to be honest - besides, a picture says more than a thousand words right... I shall keep you posted and if anyone has any useful advise I would be very grateful to receive this in the meantime! Updated on 23 Jan 2019: Hello everyone, I imagine some of you want to know how my procedure went so here is an update. I had my surgery at the Clementine Hospital in Harrow as this hospital offered the lowest hospital fees, (I believe Dr Gault also operates out of several other more central London locations). I arrived at the hospital and changed into the surgery gown. As I was only having local anaesthetics I had been able to have lunch before I arrived. Dr Gault drew on my ears as per the picture to show how he was planning on reducing them. A short while later I went in for my procedure. The most negative part for me during the surgery was the numbing injections, they are pretty painful. It is always very strange being awake during this type of surgery, you will not feel any pain once the anaestics kick in but you are definitely aware of what is going on around you. I have to mentioned how incredibly sweet my nurses were, Anita and Karen, such lovely ladies! The procedure took about 2 hours after which I was given some paracetamol and a hot drink and a biscuit. Overall I thought the hospital and the staff were great, clean surroundings and everyone I met were very friendly. I was prescribed with 5 days worth of antibiotics and after I had collected these I went home in a taxi. Now I have to be honest, despite taking the two paracetamol I was given before I left the hospital, by the time I came home and had settled down I was in pain. A lot of pain. I had not been prescribed any strong pain killers so I took a couple of paracetamol fours hours after the previous ones. This did not help at all. Luckily for me I had some left-over over the counter painkillers from a previous unrelated surgery and so I waited up until it was safe for me to take these. Once they had kicked in I was able to get some sleep. I kept on top of my pain administration using these for the next few days and so I never experienced the same pain again thankfully. This is something for others to bear in mind though... I have just come back from my post-op appointment with Dr Gault this afternoon where I had my stitches removed and ears cleaned a bit. I have attached pictures from today, as you can see my ears are still slightly discoloured and swollen but this is completely normal. I am going for my final check-up with Dr Gault in about 6-8 weeks. As you can see from my before/after photos, my ears were previously rather upside-down triangle shaped and top-heavy. They have now been given a more feminine and refined look. They previously measured 70mm in length, now they just under 65mm which is within the average for female ear length. I go through stages but currently think it is a good thing that I did not reduce the ear lobes, I think it means the overall shape has remained somewhat more oval (0) rather than round (O). It is hard to level the before/after photos next to each other so the change becomes apparent, hopefully you are able to see a difference in these though. In hindsight I think maybe I should have asked Dr Gault to be a little bit less conservative when he drew on my ears – I could have done with them being slightly further reduced, especially on my right ear so that my helix now sat where the incision begins on the lower left side instead of a bit further out. Overall I can see a clear reduction though. If you have any questions, do ask. Updated on 27 Mar 2019: Hello everyone! I am now more than 2 months post-op and thought I would update you with pictures of the healed (bruise and swelling free) results. I dont think the shape will change much after this point, the scarring will obviously become less and less noticable though. Overall I m pleased I ennt through with the surgery! Updated on 14 Oct 2019: Hello everyone, I thought I would provide you with a final update on my outcome, through the attached photos - any questions just ask. I do not regret having the procedure done, as you can see it has definitely improved my ears overall. Sometimes I feel though however that minor improvements could be made, but I am yet to decide whether this is something that I would like to explore in the future.
When I was 10 my parents got my ears pinned back. The surgeon in question must have made a cut in the wrong place and my large Dumbo ears were now stuck to my head, pointing at the top and sticking out together with lobes. I looked like Mr Spock and was called this. A year later I saw another surgeon who said he could not do much but a minor modification. It made little difference. I was told for years there was nothing I could do. At age 27 I discovered David Gault. He said my ears were very difficult to operate on but would have a go. Over the course of 3 operations he had 1. brought my ears out, 2 refined the top and lobes and 3 most importantly reduced the size of my ears. Noone makes any bad comments about my ears anymore. This man is an artist and changed my life. I'm 40 now and so grateful for what this man did.
As many people will say, this is something I wanted to do for many years, in fact since I was seven? years old. After many years of deliberation and also have the money to do it, I am embarked upon extensive research. All of it pointed towards Dr Gault(London, UK) being a world leader in corrective ear surgery. I visited him and although he has a very dry sense of humour he is clearly very talented. My advice at this point is that you need to relax and totally trust Dr Gault, if you are highly strung, his approach will not suit you. You pay a premium to have surgery with him and I saw prices that were half as much, I would strongly suggest that you get what you pay for. Stating the obvious your ears are very prominent and you really want it to go well. Dr Gault mentioned that he spends a good proportion of his time fixing failed Otoplasty procedures. About the procedure I will keep this brief; the first two days are tough, the pain was immense. The bandage is also extremely uncomfortable and needs to stay on for seven days. I was very nervous going back but to say I was pleased with the result would be an understatement. It made me look completely different, and I was very pleased. You need to wear a headband at night for six weeks. About eight weeks later I had a slight recurrence on my right ear, it 'popped out' to be around 7mm more than the other ear. I waited six months though before going back to ensure the swelling had reduced. I went to see Dr Gault, he was very understanding and suggested that we have a revision procedure. This was very easy, almost no pain and swelling and no my ears are perfect! In summary, I couldn't be happier and would highly recommend anyone considering this to get it done. But I would say, make sure you use a good surgeon!
I had ear and ear lobe reduction surgery at The Wellington Hospital by Dr Gault and I couldn’t be happier with the results. The size of my ears had always bothered me from a young age so after doing some research I discovered Dr Gault’s website and was so thrilled to have my first consultation during which he reassured me that he could definitely reduce the size of my ears. I had my surgery in February 2016 and the following week I had my bandage and stitches removed; I was overwhelmed with the results. The scarring was barely visible and I experienced no pain; only 7 days post-surgery, my ears looked amazing and I couldn’t believe the difference in size from prior to my surgery. I couldn’t recommend David Gault enough, and the results have changed my life. Updated on 15 May 2016:
After twenty-two years living with an otoplasty which went horribly wrong, I finally found a surgeon who was able to fix it beyond my wildest expectations. Background:Both ears were overly corrected (too close to my head) and with completely different shapes. The right ear looked as if it was folded back with a ruler, in a straight line with no natural curve and the other a cauliflower ear (see photos).I had a follow-up operation a year later to correct the right ear, the operation made no difference whatsoever. As the years went by, I was still very unhappy. It affected my self-esteem and confidence. In almost every conversation I had with a new acquaintance, I would notice their gaze eventually drawn towards my oddly shaped ears. It happened very naturally, nobody was intentionally staring to make me feel awkward, people just couldn't help it.I decided that once I could afford to, I would find a world renown ear surgeon and go for it one last time. After researching long and hard I came across David Gault, who is a master at what he does, I'm so glad I did.Verdict:During my initial consultation, David Gault politely asked for my opinion, he immediately understood my concerns and then gave me his suggestions. He is to the point, friendly and has a great sense of humour. He agreed on what I wanted and suggested trimming the ear slightly in order to make it rounder and smaller, something I did not even consider (or thought possible). After the surgery:A week after the surgery, the bandages were removed and to my delight, even though still swollen, my ears looked normal for the first time in my life!I cannot thank David Gault enough for his truly amazing and life changing effort. Updated on 25 Jul 2015: Here is a front view of both ears before and after Updated on 29 Jul 2015: Here is a picture of my ears after 12 days, I can see even more improvements in the shape as the swelling reduces.
After years of suffering with large ears I opted for ear reduction with Mr David Gault. I had previously had my ears set back by another surgeon as they also stuck out. I was happy with my ear pinning surgery but I still had overly large ears with the right being larger than the left. Anyone afflicted with this particular problem will know how embarrassing it can be and how much of a negative impact it can have on your well being. After reading mixed reviews I opted to have the surgery done by Mr David Gault and am now very glad I did. The negative reviews were always in reference to Mr Gault's bedside manner but personally I found Mr Gault to be a very talented and kind man with a quick wit. Mr Gault is very direct and to the point but has done a remarkable job of reducing the size of my ears and they are now a much nicer shape. The scarring is minimal and barely noticeable and am very happy with the outcome of the surgery and have no negative comments to offer.
The main side effect of sclerotherapy is residual pigmentation, which is caused by a blood pigment called haemosiderin. Very few people are quite prone to developing this complication, but in this group it can be impossible to avoid. Aggressive massage begun two weeks after the treatment can sometimes help, and one of the pigment removing lasers can be used if necessary.
I do not use either microdermabrasion or chemical peels. Plasma Skin Regeneration technology is infinitely more controllable, and can effect improvements in skin laxity, skin texture (including open pores), fine wrinkling, and skin pigmentation in a single treatment. Improvement after a single treatment with the new Portrait device (already FDA approved in the US) can continue over the course of a full year.
