I did my research on all the different options, and the sleeve seemed the best procedure for me. I was miserable at 300 and 4'10 I could not walk I had just had my first knee surgery. I felt like I was going to die. I had to much to live for. So something had to change so I started looking into all I could do and who was going to do it. I found dr Kim and started with the consultation and what all I was in for. It was the best choice. I was going to live. I went in to the hospital that morning, woke up later that afternoon could not drink or eat until the tests were done, I was not in any pain.
My experiences with Kim Bariatric have been only positive. I cannot think of being disappointed one time. It's impressive how orgainized, professional and smoothly this institution runs. I have not had any glitches. The results have been nothing short of amazing. I remember being overweight most of my life and unable to successfully lose weight until the sleeve. Totally worth every stitch and initial surgical discomfort, which of course is short lived.
I decided to follow EXACTLY what doctor Kim said and his staff and read the Manuel's 2 to 3 times and when I did I have had NO complications none whatsoever. Even after my surgery I was in very little pain which stun the nurses. And in 10 months I am down 119 pounds. The staff is great and know their stuff. AWESOME!!!
Dr. Kim and his staff have been wonderful. I wanted a surgeon who was very experienced, and I felt extremely comfortable with Dr. Kim after I met with him to discuss my surgical options. My surgery and post-op course went extremely well. I have lost 90 pounds and feel better than I have in years. This surgery has truly changed my life. I am so happy that I finally moved forward with it and I would certainly recommend Dr. Kim to anyone who is considering weight loss surgery.
I came to a seminar in 2004 to see Dr Kim. I was diabetic with High Blood Pressure and was totally miserable I was so heavy. In the 9.5 years I have lost almost 100 lbs and take no medicines except vitamins. It was the best decision I have ever made to have the Gastric Bypass Surgery, I feel it saved and gave me my life back. Dr Kim and his staff are the Best, i would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking to have weight Loss surgery. They provide many support groups throughout the month and cautiously watch your progress throughout your weight loss process. Dr Kim and Staff-- THANK YOU! Sandy F
I was sleeved on 2/08/2010 by Dr Kim. Having WLS was something I never thought I would do. I kept telling myself I could lose the weight without surgical intervention. I would lose a few lbs here and there but always gained it back along with a few friends. My life changing moment came after I was diagnosed with Diabetes, Sleep Apnea, Rheumatoid Arthritis and High Blood Pressure within 4 months. When my family doctor told me if I didnt lose weight and keep it off I would be dead within 10 years, that was the moment I realized I didnt have a choice, I needed a tool to help me. Dr Kim was invaluable in helping make the decision for the surgery that was right for me. I lost 100 lbs along with the Diabetes, Sleep Apnea and High Blood pressure. How amazing is that!! His staff goes above and beyond to help you, even with the simplest questions. They truly are amazing and I cannot say enough good things them. They also have monthly support group which is very helpful and they cover a wide range of topics. Having WLS was the best decision I have ever made! I am so happy I found Dr Kim!!
I had tried every diet out there before surgery. My husband got insurance that covered weight loss surgey. So I went for it after researching about it for a while. Ive lost 90. Dr Kim is very professional and educated. I knew I was in good hands. His staff is amazing too! I have no regrets. I am living life again thanks to Dr Kim. I can now do zumba, bike ride, and job at ease. I have even ziplined. My experience was great from beginning to end. I still go to office visits. I have no regrets in my choice of WLS doctor Updated on 26 Apr 2014: Updated on 27 Apr 2014: I had insurance so they billed my insurance around $78,000. With it being so long ago, I don't know an exact total. Only $800 came out of my pocket. Very thankful for Insurance!! I researched for quite a while on WLS, then I had a friend that had her sleeve done by him and she was really satisfied with him and his office. I also was impressed of all the commercials, billboards and Nate Newton being one of his patients. I was off work for 2 weeks. Went back half days the third week. After surgery I was finally feeling more normal after 9 days. The only pain I get is left side pain when I wear pants that are a little too tight in the waist. The left side is where they take the stomach out through the muscle. I have had it checked, there is scar tissue there that causes the discomfort every once in a while. When I eat soup with meats and beans, that is weird going down because you are putting liquid and solid down at the same time and that is a no no. You are not supposed to drink 30 min before eating and 30 min after. That is the only food I find that sorta hurts going down. Other than that no pain, no throwing up, no dumping. If you have anymore questions let me know. :)
Dr Kim is the best in his field and I'm so glad I decided to go to Kim Bariatric for my gastric sleeve. His staff is awesome!! With over 100 lbs gone, it is so much easier to keep up with the grandchildren and enjoy a better quality of life!! I highly recommend Kim Bariatric Institute to anyone considering weight loss surgery!! Updated on 17 Apr 2014: Dr Kim performed my gastric sleeve in 2011 and I've since lost over 100 lbs. My experience with Kim Bariatrics was a very smooth, very pleasant one. From start to finish the staff has been there to assist with any questions I had or continue to have. The only obstacles where the ones I created by not following protocol. No more high blood pressure medication, no more sleep apnea!!
Hi everyone. I recently joined and have been very encouraged by all the stories of success. I'm in day 5 of the pre-surgery liquid diet and I have to say it is challenging. More so mentally than physically at this point. Day's 1-3 were physically hard, I was very hungry but the emotional battle to not think about food was tough. I'm not having hunger pains anymore, but I still WANT a cheeseburger :) I've lost 10lbs so far, kinda disappointed I didn't lose anything yesterday but I know my body is just adjusting to this drastic change so I'm hopeful tomorrow will show a positive loss. I know you shouldn't weigh everyday but dang it if I am going through this torture I want to see some results LOL. I'm excited and apprehensive about my surgery Monday. I'm 46yrs old and haven't been in the hospital since I was 17yrs old. No children and no major health issues so having any kind of surgery is a little scary. Anyway I could ramble on and on but just wanted to say Hi and I look forward to meeting new friends and supporting my fellow Sleeve Gastrectomy buddies. Updated on 18 Apr 2013: It's day 4 post-surgery and I'm finally feeling more like myself. Nobody tells you how how hard the surgery is, IT IS HARD. That day of and after were by far the most miserable days of my life. I'm so thankful I have a family who supports and loves me. They have been lifesavers these past few days. I'm keeping down liquids, drank 2 protein shakes yesterday and aiming for 3 today. Updated on 22 Apr 2013: It's been a week. My pain is more soreness on the left side, the sharp pains only happen with deep intakes of breath and coughing. I was going to stop taking the Vicodin but decided to keep taking 1 dose in the morning and 1 at night to take the edge off. I've lost 21 pounds in 2 weeks, that's pretty incredible to me. I go in tomorrow for my post-op visit and hopefully get these staples out. I want the liquid part of this to be over! I'm able to drink everything, getting all my protein in and plenty of water but I'm so ready to chew on something and taste something other than these shakes.
