I visited Dr Ebroon for under eye filler one year ago. I had seen him in the past for the same procedure with great results and was expecting a similar outcome. We used restylane silk ( the previous time we had used juvederm) and he explained there may be some mild swelling for a couple of days after the procedure. Waking up the following day I was extremely red and swollen and it appeared as though there was an infection. I called the office to make sure this was normal and was reassured that the swelling would go down. It took close to two weeks for the swelling and redness to completely go away. Not what I signed up for- it was pretty embarrassing at work and at school drop offs but once it had healed the results were good. This only lasted about two days and then I woke up to more swelling and redness. I anxiously visited his office that same day because I was leaving for Colorado the following day and he had mentioned an upcoming vacation to Argentina and I wanted the issue resolved before he left. Upon examination he suggested the use of hylauronidase (a product that breaks down filler) on the side that was swollen and I agreed. A few hours later when I looked in the mirror there was a very noticeable dent/ deflation at the injection site that looked anything but attractive. A few weeks passed and I experienced the same symptoms of redness and swelling. This happened a few more times- each time I would visit dr Ebroon- scared that there was an infection and not sure what was going on. Finally we decided to use the hylauronidase again and this time within an hour there was a severe dent under my eye. The flesh looked melted away, my upper eyelids looked extremely hollow and gaunt. My temples were caved in and I could see every tendon in my forehead and the curvature of every bone that had once been covered with flesh. It was as if I aged 20 years in those areas within an hour. Horrified I was back the next day and he filled in the severe hollow under my eye with more filler leaving a black bruise that lasted weeks. I looked like someone punched me in the eye. More embarrassment at school drop offs and work. After the bruise healed I went back to see him one final time. Very depressed about the deflated look of my face and hoping for a miracle. Instead he took a picture and told me I was one of the unfortunate people that react to hylauronidase in an unfavorable way. Devastated I seeked help elsewhere. I was terrified to use filler again but not willing to walk around looking like a withered grape. I found Dr Jason Emer and he was able to restore the lost volume to my face. A true miracle worker and he uses a cannula which made it so I had zero bruising!!!! I also visited Dr Taban and he was able to restore the lost volume around my eye area- not an easy task. A few weeks later I decided to write a letter to Dr Ebroon explaining the mental and financial toll all of this had taken on me. I expected compassion and some sort of responsibility on his part. At the very least to cover the cost of fixing what had gone wrong. Instead I received a letter back from his office manager stating the could not cover an expense of work done outside their office. I decided to not respond to their letter and move on after too many sleepless nights and feeling sick to my stomach about the whole situation for far too long. My fave was restored and I thought it would be healthiest to not think about it for another minute. Well now it’s been a year and the filler is wearing off and I’m able to see the dents and marks of where the hylauronidase was injected and it brings up all of those feelings again. The sick to my stomach, what did he do to my face, helpless feelings. And now I will have to spend thousands of dollars again to restore the lost volume. So beware of this doctor. If something does go wrong with your treatment he will not take ownership and fix the problem. I expected so much more from him as a healthcare professional.
