I just went in for all of my Pre-Op instructions and paper work. 63 yr old with 32 yr old saline under muscle implants. Just realizing, I have had them for almost 1/2 of my life. I had originally gotten implants after having a lumpectomy on one breast, and was left thinking, I was "lopsided" So went in to get one side done, but decided to go for it, and went up 2 cup sizes. I have never shared with anyone that I have even had this procedure. So not only am I nervous about the surgery, but feeling like I will need to explain "what happened to my boobs" Should I wear something in my bra to make up for the size difference? Or just wear loose fitting clothes and say nothing? But what I do know is that it is absolutely time to get them out. My left side is so painful and hard, I am not able to raise my arm, with out feeling a pulling sensation. I cannot lay on that side either. Hugging anyone is painful, and I also always feel like any physical contact.....they must feel how hard that side must feel. My surgeon thinks the pain will be gone after the ex-plant. So at this point I am nervous, excited and scared all at once. will keep posting.... Updated on 13 Jul 2017: The journey continues ..... Yesterday was a wild ride, although it seems like it was much longer ago than that. Now looking back it seems like yesterday was a bit of a blur, but a good one. The procedure went well, and I was taken over by such a sense of calm, that I decided to hang on to that feeling and it really helped. Went in at 6:30 in the morning and was back home by 10:00 . The worst part was simply the overall anxiety of the process .( The medical staff was wonderful and I didn't even have to go home wearing a cone on my neck, I promised I wouldn't lick ) Yesterday there really wasn't much pain. Today is some pain, but it is more localized, if that makes sense. Like a jabbing feeling in one side or the other. I am such a light weight when it comes to pain meds, I found if I take a 1/2 of the prescribed one, with a whole tylenol , I don't have such a brain fog. Sleeping upright is a bit of a challenge, but I do have a bed that raises, so that helps, but for future reference I would strongly suggest to have about 2 extra pillows that are soft enough to hold onto and fold if needed. It just feels good for protection. Tomorrow is another day, I hope to write another update. Updated on 14 Jul 2017: Day two post op. Here they are, just hanging around waiting to continue to heal. All I am getting now is an occasional jab of pain, but it is tolerable. Updated on 19 Jul 2017: Went to the Dr. today. He said I was doing fantastic !!! I can not believe how good I feel. Everyday gets better. My Dr said I had "very crusty" capsules. He said he cleaned everything out. I didn't have drains. I asked why.. and he said each case was different, and he didn't think I needed them . Was glad for that. Now I go back in 3 wks. I hope he says I can go back to riding my horse again... I miss that the most :)
It is perferrable to reach a stable weight before undergoing significant facial rejuvination such as a facelift. Decreasing the amount of fat in the face and neck region can reveal more skin and soft tissue laxity which will need to be accounted for in the procedure for the optimal result. Selective resoration of facial volume is also more accurate after wieght loss is complete.
Alloderm has one surface that will incorporate into your own tissues as cells and blood vessels infiltrate. It will not attach to a breast implant. Rippling is typically caused by a mismatch between the size of the implant and the space it occupies or thin soft tissue cover. Rotating should not improve rippling long term. Alloderm can be used to control the size of the implant space or to add thickness to the soft tissue between the skin and the implant. A board certified plastic surgeon should be able to help with your issue.
It's too soon to consider liposuction. If you are just a month from surgery it is most likely swelling. Especially if it wasn't there before. You should be wearing a support girdle to control swelling as it continues to move downward. We recommend wearing something for at least 6-8 weeks. Tummy tuck results are best determined after 6-12 months after surgery. Good luck!
Insurance companies may deny removal coverage due to them being put in for "cosmetic reasons." Even if an MRI shows a rupture. They may exclude breast implant related coverage on a policy if you've had a breast augmentation, but not deny coverage altogether. This would not pertain to group coverage as much as an individual policy. Although this is rare I have seen it a couple times in my practice.
