I have been seeing Dr. D for quite some time now. He has been treating me for IPL scaring I received at a 'cosmetic spa' (you know the ones I'm talking about). I have been under his care now for over a year and he is one of the most honest, kindest and compassionate plastic surgeons I have ever been treated by. I see him regularly for other procedures such as botox and have also had moles removed. He is understanding and listens to what you want. I have been going through a horrible ordeal and dealing with permanent scaring from IPL burns and he has been so helpful (please note I did not receive the IPL burns from his clinic and was referred to him by my dermatologist for being one of the best in the industry to treat my condition). He has a lovely bedside manner and his staff are absolutely amazing and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him for anything. He is an absolute gem and you can trust that he is giving you the best honest advice. I am still under his care and feel that I am in the best hands possible. You will be too.
The experience was better then i thought., I had alot of swelling and my face was black and blue for a week as i had a laser peel at the same time. I did not take any pain meds as i was not in alot of pain . The worst part was getting sick from the general anethesia and the lack of sleep as I could not sleep sittin up. After having the drainage tube out i did have alot of liquid in my cheeks which went away after a few days. I returned to office work after 17 days with makeup on. My results were very natural looking. Six months later i went to my dentist that had a picture on file. They did not recognize me at the desk from my picture and took a new one.
I am unbelievably pleased with the work Dr. De Lorenzi has done on my brow lift, laser resurfacing, face lift, and tummy tuck. These procedures have taken place over 15 years. In every case i was treated with care, and respect. I was made to feel comfortable and without anxiety going in . My pain level was managed well afterward and the after care was tremendous. I was given the doctors home number to call if i had any problems.
I had a breast augmentation and some body shaping done (lipo) in 2003. Then went back to Dr. DeLorenzi about a year later for a tummy tuck. I was thrilled with the change in my breasts, they were the anatomically shaped silicone implants. Very natural looking and filled out what I had lost after breastfeeding three babies. I can't say enough about the tummy tuck. It changed my life. I had a lot of loose skin, not a lot of fat, but I even had skin drooping down over my belly button which totally grossed me out and made me very self-conscious. I now have a perfect stomach. I exercise and eat clean and I think I look great in a bikini :) As an FYI to ladies considering this, be aware that it is very painful in the 10 days (at least) following surgery. This is coming from someone who had 3 c-sections. It was about twice as bad as a c-section, only the pain lasted longer. I did have an extensive muscle repair too, which I think was the cause of most of the pain (but still very worth it!!) **Please note: this was done so long ago, I don't even remember the exact costs, but $15000 is around what I *think* it was
Don't waste your time or money! Go somewhere else- anywhere else. This is the worst place to go if you want something done- like a simple mole removal. I went there in March 2013 to have two small moles on my face removed. Dr. DeLorenzi did the shaving technique, rather than the surgery with stitches like I had requested over the phone prior to the procedure. The end result was that one was removed and the other looks the exact same, even though it took two months of healing. When I called them back to request another appointment I indicated that I needed one near the end of the day due to my work schedule. The administrative staff accommodated this and the appointment was scheduled. Then, they continuously called me looking to re-schedule and book different times and were extremely rude and snooty. They were obviously taking new patients and putting me to the end of the list. I spent over $500.00 having this done and wore bandages on my face for two months to be snubbed off when I requested a follow-up appointment because the procedure was not successfully. I wish I would have known this before and I hope this helps young women think twice about going to the Dr. DeLorenzi Clinic for any cosmetic procedures small or large. I couldn't imagine how they would treat you if you weren't happy with a larger procedure that would take even longer to correct.
My "girls" have been deflated and saggy since I stopped breast feeding at age 19. I have been wanting to do this procedure since my 20's and went as far as getting a consult for a BA at the age of 26 with the same doctor that I will be using for my procedures. The result of that initial consultation left me feeling so depressed as my surgeon said that he would not give me a BA but he would do a lift. Let me tell you that this was NOT something I wanted to hear and I left his office believing that I would never again have nice looking girls. So fast forward to now and you may ask why I went back to the same surgeon if he said no to me in the first place...well bc he didn't tell me what I wanted to hear 11 yrs ago I figured I could trust and respect any recommendations he had to finally achieve nicer looking breast and I do feel confident that he will give me the results that will best suit my frame and hopefully the end result will everything that I've ever wished for. My consult was on April 28th and Dr. De suggested the following procedures: - BA 350 cc - Bennelli Lift - Axilla Lipo (didn't go Into the consult with this procedure in mind nor the scar revision but we are going ahead to remove the extra fat by my arms and hopefully this will accentuate my new girls) - Scar Revision (I had my gallbladder and spleen removed at the age of 6. The scar that I have is not pretty and he said he could make it look a lot better. This was not something I have ever wanted to change bc it's been with me all my life but when Dr. De showed us pictures of women before and after their revisions and we were sold). My husband has been very supportive however my daughter who will be turning 19 is not as enthusiastic about my choice. She feels it's not necessary but at the same time she will help me after surgery should I need it. (That's her way of supporting me which is very appreciative. We are very close so I do value her opinion and would love her full support but respect her feelings about the procedures and haven't pushed further conversation regarding it. I should let u know that she has decided she will come with me and my husband the day of the surgery which is HUGE that she's willing to do that for me). I have a lot of concerns regarding the Bennelli lift. I'm really happy that he said I didn't need the whole lollipop lift but after reading reviews I am not sure I want to go ahead with it. My next post I will individualize my concerns and fears in hopes that I will get feedback from you all. I will try to post pictures with my next post.
I saw Dr Delorenzi for consult only regarding radiesse filler to help with suggestion or "ideas" and tell me what's happening to me suffering for 7 months . But he failed to answer my question instead he went on speaking about other fillers and not once to explain the symptoms I have . Terrible dr . Updated on 14 Oct 2014: I hope you read this dr delorenzi. The report is exactly how I was expecting it to be writen but I noticed quite "some" errors some we never even spoke about it and some you forgot to meantion how my symptoms were exactly like your wife's menopause symptoms and that should calm my fear . About 30 minuts showing me pic on the PC and how my vision could be affected . Not a big deal . I think I had full page in my report about your skills as PS . I think dr delorenzi the trouble with you is that you lack the power of conversation but not the power of speech . Updated on 17 Jun 2015: I would like to update this review as I never really cared to read delorenzis medical report because as soon as I read the first page stating the consult lasted well over an hour it wasn't worth reading it because it started with a lie, but , I did read couple days ago and I noticed something that shocked me he used Slander towards me and other patients like me in realself to attack me in medical health record with statements such as " she seems to give more credence to anonymous internet bloggers then to respected medical authorities " ( while delorenzi is active Doctor And registered with reaself ) He further claimed about patients on real self this I quote " she is more apt to believe the rambling complaints of patient on the Internet (some ) of whom may have secondary gain or other unknown motives) and "although I spent over an hour with in consultation with her , she was bluntly dismissive of my opinion because I did not agree with the comments of random individuals on realself .com " I did find these kinds of unnecessary and irrelevant references highly offensive and unprofessional if not biased. He told me "your symptoms are similar to my wife's menopause symptoms " she gets hot flashes just like you now . I was very sad that he used his wife's menopause symptoms to explain something that was easy to see , observe and examine such as swelling , redness and discoloration. I was very offended humiliated as in no way i was expecting to hear from self claimed well known ps Surgeon who is entrusted with patients lives and well being on daily bases to give me that answer . Very interesting to me is that ,he got so upset angry at me with when I didn't give my consent to use my photos in any website or for any purpose and told me "is this what kind of a person you are " you don't wish to help others . Who would others be if in fact he has never seen any complication specially like mine from radiesse and if he slanders other patient on realself including me . I was there for help . Second he slandered my with "anyone who wishes to treat her will have to gain first her trust and indeed this will be very difficult " "Such a statement from a doctor who saw me less then an hour and and most important while I was send there with a referral by the treating doctor " for opinion . He seems to be confused the way he writes medical reports . But he did seem very nervous , angry and very irritated by me each time I attempted to ask questions as he will cut me off and say "I'm plastic surgeon and I know best " Claudio delorenzi "im real patient " just like all others in this website and my story is real whether you like it or not . Slandering me and others like me with such a "hateful statements" in my medical report with intend to cause me emotional distress which sadly can be proven and will be proven otherwise it's very hurtful . Please anyone who reads this review feel free to message me and I will send you a copy of my medical report . I have no problem to share his opinion written in my name on my medical health report in regards to people in this website and what he thinks about this website and people including me that share their real stories with their injuries.
Upon my first consultation with Dr. D I felt welcomed and cared about. He seemed very interested in listening to all my concerns and answering all my questions as well as my husbands cares and concerns. They office staff all shared their experiences with their surgeries as this is what I was really interested in, knowing what others had experienced. I scheduled a scar revision surgery and I was so nervous about the procedure. The entire operating room staff treated me like a queen. The scar revision was such a small thing to go through, but I am glad I had it done (it was mandatory before a tummy tuck) because this gave me insight as to how things will be handled when I go in for my "big" procedure. I got to have a look at the surgical room as well as how the staff handled things (me). The only thing I wish that was available is a proper private waiting room designated just for family members that are waiting, since we are out of town it would be nice if they didn't have to go hang out at the mall. There is a lovely reception area upstairs but it's not really a family waiting area with TV etc. Updated on 25 Oct 2013: Everyone always says why did I wait so long, yup that's me too! I am almost 5 months post op and absolutely LOVE my body. I couldn't be happier and my husband loves it too, he didn't care one way or the other about me having the procedure, but he does definitely like it. Everything went according to plan, I seemed to heal quicker than most, thanks to my Nutritionist and her coaching on supplements etc. Dr. D does not do drains or staples and I hear that is an area of long lasting discomfort. Thanks to this website for giving me before hand information, I loved the lazyboy idea and slept in it for a full week. I also had a personal nurse (my daughter) staying with me, she was to stay 5 days following the surgery but extended it to a full week after and at that point I was good to go it alone. I'm so glad I wasn't totally alone that first week, just getting to follow up appointments and doing the meds, she was a blessing. If anyone is considering this I say what are you waiting for. The only problem I am working on is that I have gained a bit of weight ( 8lbs.), I'm not sure if it's because I have my appetite back or that I am just getting back into the routine of exercise, but I am aware and will keep on top of it. Did I say I LOVE my body?
Recurrent fluid build up after tummy tuck is usually "serous or serosanguineous" In other words, the fluid is composed of blood serum and a certain amount of whole blood. This problem is typical of older (less expensive) techniques of tummy tuck surgery where the surgeon does not close the wounds on the inside (using quilting sutures that close the pocket so that there is no space for the fluid to accumulate). Only a small amount of blood is necessary to turn the fluid pink or red, and it is often difficult, even for experienced nurses and doctors, to tell exactly how much whole blood is actually in the fluid. Having a lot of blood in the fluid would be very unusual after the first 24 hours post operatively. If you have a significant amount of blood, then you should check with your surgeon to make certain that this is normal for his or her specific technique. If it is in fact undiluted blood, then this is an emergency and you must seek medical attention immediately, since you cannot sustain that much on going blood loss indefinitely without serious repercussions.
I operate out of my own private surgical facility. One of my goals is to have a zero complication rate. I strive for continual quality improvement, frequently reviewing our case statistics and outcomes. There has been a relatively recent movement to reduce the amount of preop workup done on healthy patients prior to elective surgery. However, we have found in our clinical reviews that healthy patients often have associated medical abnormalities that were not previously diagnosed. For example, we have found that young to middle age females often have undiagnosed iron deficiency anemia. We have also discovered thryoid deficiencies, cardiac abnormalities, and many, many other problems that were clinically "silent". By treating these patients prior to their surgery, we have improved outcomes. There are recommended minimal bloodwork and test profiles for surgery that depend not only on the patient's history and physical, but also on the nature and extent of planned surgery. A thorough patient history and physical exam is not enough, in my opinion, for maximal safety when planning major surgery. The cost benefit ratio of testing is only one factor when deciding which tests are necessary for any given patient. The sensitivity and specificity of tests, whether the results of a test would change clinical management, and several other factors play a major role in this decision process. The bottom line is whether any of these tests will end up changing outcomes. Based on our clincal case reviews, they do.
Scars from tummy tucks generally fall in the crease that forms in the lower abdomen when seated in a chair. The length of the scar, not surprisingly, is directly related to how much skin is to be removed. The more skin to be removed, the longer the scar. Attempts to really shorten the scar end up causing problems of pleating, irregularity, and "dog ears" (cone shaped prominence at the end of the scar). In most cases, the best results are obtained from using an adequate scar length, and, in my opinion, it is better to get a smooth shape rather than a shorter scar, all else being equal. A well placed longer scar is more acceptable than a shorter scar with suboptimal results! Hence the oft exclaimed saying "Shape Trumps Scar!" In plain English, getting a good shape is more important that getting a shorter scar, everytime! Patients who have suboptimal results may have significant improvement of the overall results with a well executed scar revision (sometimes with a concurrent liposuction touch up). The timing and extent of your scar revision will depend on several factors which must be discussed with your surgeon.
Endoscopic surgery is a real advance in many areas of plastic surgery. However, when there is extra skin and fat to be removed, as in a typical tummy tuck, then endoscopy has NO role to play. There are almost no cases in my over 25 year experience that would have benefitted from this type of operation. I have seen perhaps one patient who only had muscle weakness following delivery, who did not have any extra skin to get rid of. So called "Heat therapy" can only minimally tighten tissues. I have invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in these technologies over the years, so I know what I am talking about. The results of non operative heat therapy are very very modest, and they have very very limited use. A patient with loose excess tummy skin will almost always benefit from a full tummy tuck. It is a very satisfying operation with extremely high approval ratings.
Sorry to hear about your problem. Most surgeons in North America use drainage tubes after a tummy tuck to remove fluid that tends to accumulate under the tummy skin flap. A good way of avoiding drains, and avoiding the hassle of "seromas" (the fluid even has its own name!) is to see a surgeon who is trained to close the wound on the inside. Yes, it takes time to do this, and it may cost you a bit more, but you won't have to put up with the swelling, discomfort, and hassle of drainage tubes. As an added bonus, graduated tension sutures (as they are called) also take all the strain off the wound closure, so you typically end up with better incision scars. The medical term for this procedure is 'closing the dead space', and it involves quilting sutures that stitch the 'flap' (the skin and fat that the surgeon lifts off the muscle layer) back down. Thus, there is no place where fluid can collect. Healing is usually faster, since there is no movement between the layers that we want to heal together. Many surgeons hate this added step, since it slows them down a bit in the OR and thus increases costs in the facility. I have been using this technique for over 11 years, since it was taught to my by my colleague Ricardo Baroudi from Brazil. I have not had any seromas at all in hundreds of abdominoplasties since using this technique, and I encourage my colleagues to adapt it. For me, it is a no brainer-- the outcomes are much better for my patients. FYI- If a seroma has been present for a long time, they sometimes will gain a tissue lining, which makes them resistant to treatment with repeated drainage alone. Sometimes, it will be necessary to actually 'go back in' to strip this lining away so that the layers can stick together. Some surgeons have used chemicals or drugs to stimulate the fluid pocket to scar together if repeated drainage does not work. This usually involves temporarily putting some indwelling drains back in to place for a period of time.
