Dr. Soparkar is a world class doctor with exceptional skill and passion for helping his patients. He helped me overcome Thyroid Eye disease. He was not quick to do the surgery and took the wait and watch approach and also help me to understand the disease process along the way with his educational videos on the topic. I’m about 5 weeks out from surgery and already experiencing tremendous freedom aesthetically as well as my eye is not as uncomfortable and as dry. The outcome thus far far exceeded my expectations and I really am so grateful that God allowed me the opportunity to be healed by this doctor.
Dr. Soparkar performed upper and lower blepahroplasties on my eyes one year ago. I have nothing but positives to say about the experience and results. I visited a couple of plastic surgeons regarding this procedure. I left those offices with a list of additional items to consider adding to and during the procedure. My consultation with Dr. Soparkar was the complete opposite, he focused on my main concern, my hooded and baggy eyes. He finished the consultation by telling me that fillers might complete the look I would like to achieve but he recommended waiting for the eyes to heal before I made any of those decisions. You could tell by his explanations he enjoyed the creative process involved in both the surgical and cosmetic procedures. If you look at his body of work, he is indeed, quite an artist. I have since gone back twice for minimal filler injections to achieve the rested look I was wanting. Each time, I was completely comfortable with and confident in Dr. Soparkar. An added bonus is his nursing and office staff are just as kind, informative, and easy to work with as Dr. Soparkar.
Doctor Soparkar is the most excellent eye surgeon in Houston, TX. Eyes are his primary area of expertise, thus his procedures run smoothly with absolute accuracy and very little down time. Super doc
1000% worth it! I went to Houston's Occulo-Plastic Surgeon Dr Charles Soparkar at the suggestion of my dermatologist. She told me to trust her, that I didn't need to research him, and that this procedure would change my life. I didn't even know it was a thing! I just knew I hadn't seen my eyelids in at least 10 years and my eyelashes looked stupid when I wore mascara lol! My derm was right! I went for a consult and he has an amazing staff! So kind and informative! Then Dr Soparkar came in and put me completely at ease. His staff was able to get the ptosis repair covered by insurance, and I had both procedures done 12/15/16. He has a very specific post-surgery protocol and I had very little bruising. See for yourselves! I did take pics pretty much every day, so if y'all want to see more than these three before/afters, let me know. By 10 days, nobody could even tell that I had anything done!
Fantastic experience! My surgical results are better than I ever imagined. The staff was extremely helpful and Dr. Soparkar is a great doctor. He explained everything to me in great details. Having a Blepharoplasty was fairly easy. The after care was time consuming for the first 6 days. Although it took a lot of time, it help me heal faster.
This is something I've wanted to do since my mid 30s (I'm 47 now). I have quite a few family members on both sides who have droopy eyelids, and by my mid 30s I started seeing the same thing. By my 40s, I didn't look the same in pictures. My eyelids weighed down my eyes so much I couldn't wear makeup, my peripheral vision was being affected, and my lids would even sweat in the Houston heat. It also made me feel "tired" and less perky. I spent years researching the procedure and interviewing doctors, but I held off because I wasn't quite sure I wanted to do something so drastic and risky. Last summer I met with an oculoplastic surgeon here in Houston, and after meeting with him, I made the decision to schedule the surgery. Once I did that, I spend hours on this site researching, reading reviews, and looking at before and after pictures. My procedure was on December 19, 2012 and I took two weeks off over the holidays to heal and hopefully get rid of my bruising and swelling before I went back to work. I was all prepared. I had my bags of frozen peas, my arnica pills and cream, a recliner, and a neighbor to take me to and from the surgeon's office. The procedure itself was completely painless, which amazed me. I had it done with a local anesthetic, and the doctor and his assistant made the whole thing very comfortable for me. Afterwards, my neighbor drove me home and I hung out on a recliner for 3 or 4 days. There was a tiny bit of post-surgery aching, but that lasted an hour and didn't even warrant getting up off the recliner to get my Tylenol. I reclined back with ice packs on my eyes, and slept there at night as well. The worst of my swelling started around day 2 and lasted until about day 4. After that the swelling was gone and the bruising set in. The bruising didn't bother me too much, as I knew what to expect. I used warm compresses as much as possible, which may or may not have helped. I really couldn't tell. By the time I got back to work on January 7, the bruising was down enough where I could cover the remainder up with makeup. Since then, my eyes have healed, the bruising is gone, and I'm ECSTATIC with the results. I couldn't have dreamed of a more perfect outcome. Last weekend I went to Sephora and dropped $100 on new eye makeup. My eyes look younger, more refreshed, and best of all I don't have to use my forehead muscles to hold my eyelids up any more. Consequently, the wrinkles I was getting because of doing that have softened a bit. In closing, I recommend using an oculoplastic surgeon for this procedure if you can find one. Please feel free to private message with if you have any other questions.
Had ptosis surgery and Bleph and it was good. Made the mistake of going back a year later to get restylane for my tear troughs. Used the needle technique and the results were bad. Bruised, uneven results, visible ridges and had Tyndall. When I went back to show him the Tyndall, he said he was color blind and couldn’t tell but he didn’t think it was and said it was probably ethnic pigment. Didn’t offer to dissolve or fix it. Didn’t seem to care. Had to deal with this blue color under my eyes until I finally wised up and went to someone else four years later and she said it was the filler causing the color and dissolved it. This was a while ago so maybe he uses the cannula method now. Who knows
It has been a year since my upper and lower bleph. Dr Soparkar used (and told me he usually prefers) a transcutaneous approach to my lower lids. This means that instead of operating in a scarless fashion from inside the lid, he cuts through the skin under your lash line. In doing this, he necessarily cuts through the important support structure under your eye. This is the old way of doing eyelid surgery. Most even general plastic surgeons will no longer use this method bc it has an unacceptably high rate of complications. Dr Soparkar told me that in his hands it does not. Of course, he told me this after surgery. He did not tell me beforehand about the risks to this procedure bc he seems to think that when he does it there aren't any. I immediately had eyelid retraction. My lower lid was pulled down, my lateral canthus on both eyes was lowered. My eye shape changed. This has proved to be permanent. It alters my appearance drastically. I do not recognize myself in the mirror. Dr Soparkar denies that anything he did surgically could have brought about these changes. It is just a coincidence that I used to have a different eye shape and then immediately after surgery with him it changed. He claims that I have thyroid eye disease and blames that for the state of my eyes. But no labs or any other oculoplast or specialist in thyroid eye disease agrees. They all say that Soparkar is trying to evade responsibility for what he did. If I had any idea that my eye shape could change from this procedure I would never have done it. I went to an oculoplast bc I wanted an eyelid specialist to help give me a refresh to my under eye bags. I believe I found the only oculoplast that would have operated in this fashion on sub a young patient as myself. You can tell a lot about a doctor by how they handle a poor outcome or a complication. I wanted to trust in him, but it became clear over the ensuing months that I had selected a man to operate on my face who is not to be trusted. He was cold and totally uncaring about what he had done to me. Having a conversation with him starts to feel like playing Whose on First, as he slips around answering questions. I have since found out that other practitioners in the area know that he hurts people with his outdated transcutaneous surgeries. They can guess who operated by looking at the outcome. Please protect your eyes. A transcutaneous surgery is too risky, and this man doesn't care. The damage will be permanent. Instead of the subtle refresh we discussed, I look altered, unnatural, and older. He sold me when he said that he is so subtle his patients complain they don't look different. That was the kind of bleph I wanted. But I no longer believe any patients don't feel they look different. I believe they went through what I did, upset that they look worse. And he responds by trying to tell you that you are improved, despite your retraction, which is just a coincidence and isn't his fault. He may even tell you what he told me, which is that I only look worse bc now that the overgrown hedges of my eyelids are corrected, one can more clearly see the falling down shutters and peeling paint of my face. This man is a terrific salesman. His arrogance can read as high competence. But he utilizes a risky and outdated approach to the lower lids and he won't be able to help you after he ruins them.
