Dr. Carl Pearl has built his reputation in Savannah on surgical expertise and compassion for his patients. He is in solo practice at Chatham Plastic Surgery, where he and his team offer a commitment to their patients that is hard to find in modern healthcare.
I have been going to Dacy for injectables for years! She is the best in Savannah! She always makes you feel so comfortable and welcomed and will also tell you to wait for a certain area of your face if she feels like it is the right call. I am so glad she is working in Dr Carl Pearls office now because he is also the best plastic surgeon in Savannah! I would highly recommend both Dacy Gaston Weiss and Dr Carl Pearl! The BEST hands down!
Everyone at Dr. Pearl’s office is a pleasure to be around. They make you feel incredibly comfortable even during very uncomfortable times! But, this post is all about Dr. Pearl! I had a mommy makeover almost 3 weeks ago which included tummy tuck, muscle repair, breast lift, and lipo to the flanks and I feel amazing. My recovery has been so much easier than I ever imagined and I truly believe it is because Dr. Pearl is so good at what he does. My results are better than I could have ever dreamed of. He gave me my confidence back. I can’t wait to completely heal and go shopping for my new wardrobe! Thank you again Chatham Plastic Surgery and Dr. Pearl!
Dr Pearl is heaven sent when it comes to his skills. Seriously though! I almost went to Miami but i quickly realized it wasn't worth the risk so I decided to stay local. Dr Pearl knows what he is doing!! Him and his staff have been amazing and I will definitely be coming back to his office if I ever need anything else. He's a true perfectionist. Thank you so much, I'm only 5 weeks post op but my confidence is unreal. It's crazy to look at my before picture vs now! I feel blessed to have found this doctor.
Hi everyone! I just want to start off by saying this site helped me tremendously. I am 21 years old, no kids, 95-100 lbs and I was a size 32 A. I was very flat chested and self conscious about it so I don’t really have any before photos but I will attach one. I was unsure about what size to get, since I didn’t want it to look “unnatural” for my small body/narrow frame. I decided on silicone 335 cc Mentor High profile Xtra. Low or moderate profile would not have worked for my body type, and would’ve given me side boob. I was nervous about them being too small or too big, but I’m very happy with them. I had my surgery on September 4, 2020. Attached photos are 1st day post op and one before photo in a bathing suit. Updated on 8 Sep 2020: I forgot to mention in my previous post that I chose to go under the muscle. I also didn’t go too in detail on my surgery day. I am sharing this experience for those like me who have never undergone a major surgery/anesthesia before this. The IV is put in your hand so it can be furthest away from your body during surgery. The first attempt, a valve was hit. The second attempt was my lower forearm and I did pass out from that. I have never passed out before nor do I have a history of having issues with getting blood taken. I do think it was solely because of not having anything in my stomach - however if you have passed out before giving blood definitely make sure to tell the nurse ahead of time! That was the most difficult part of surgery day for me. Everything else was a breeze and my last memory is laying on the operating table. When I woke up, I was very groggy & it was hard to keep my eyes open. The pain was bearable, mostly tightness and feeling hard to breathe. Dr Pearl and his surgical team were amazing and I would recommend them to anyone in the Savannah/surrounding area. For the first couple of days, the pain was as expected. I definitely thought it would be worse then it actually was. I took my meds around the clock with soft food and ginger ale / water and did not get nauseous. The pain was worst getting up/down, and it was hard to not use my arms. Sleeping upright is no fun either. The worst pain for me was in the morning after the medicine was out of my system. I did ice immediately after surgery for 72 hours. I had a lot of fear and anxiety going into it, but overall I’m very happy. I did start to get a burning sensation in my left boob but I was told that is good and my nerves are trying to reconnect/weren’t damaged. I have full sensation of both my boobs and nipples, they are just still tight. I am advised to wear the strap (picture attached) right under my armpits to help the implants drop. I would love to answer any questions and help anyone worried about going too small or big! Thanks for reading! Updated on 9 Sep 2020: Finally off the pain meds! I was taking extra strength Tylenol. Pain is very minimal besides soreness and random tightness/burning sensations. My doctor also recommended Colace to help get things back to normal per say. I am still wearing my surgical Velcro “strap” but take it off when I need a break. I found that you could see my nipples while wearing my surgical bra, so I decided to go sports bra shopping. I was looking for a front zip up bra, which I did find at Dicks Sporting Goods. But, I also found these super comfy bras at TJ Maxx. They are Daskin Laser Cut Lounge Bra, I will attach a photo of the tag. They are silky material and do not irritate my incisions at all! They also have just enough padding to cover my nipples. Just thought I would share Incase anyone else was in the market for a more comfy post surgical bra! Best wishes and hope everyone else is doing well! Updated on 11 Sep 2020: Hi everyone, I want to start off by saying for me everyday of recovery is completely different than the other. I am one week post op and pretty much pain free other than some soreness in the mornings. I think I stopped my pain meds on Day 4ish and just finished off my antibiotic. I commented somewhere below when I switched to Tylenol. But, I haven’t had ANY pain medication, not even Tylenol, for 2 days! So overall, that part of recovery, I’m feeling great. On the other hand, I began experiencing bloating, stomach pains, and constipation yesterday. I took a small amount of Milk of Magnesia since I am small, but I’m not sure it did much. This pain lasted until this morning when I took 3 capsules of Colace and drank a full 8 oz glass of water. I did mention taking Colace while on my other medications, but once I stopped those I stopped it, and I think that was a mistake for me personally. I had the best results with Colace, over the Milk of Magnesia. Everyone is different, but the Anesthesia & Pain medications can both cause constipation & bloating, so that’s why I was advised by my doctor to only take the pain medication for the least amount of days possible. Also, if you were prescribed a muscle relaxer like myself, after a couple days those should only be taken when having a muscle spasm (very tight feeling in one area). I’ve found it’s also super important to stay hydrated and be active/walk around as much as possible! I feel like my breasts change everyday, Sometimes feel big and sometimes smaller. I will probably just start updating weekly from now on. Thanks for reading & Stay healthy everyone! Updated on 12 Sep 2020: I don’t have much of an update for you guys since my post yesterday, but I am feeling so much better today and completely back to normal diet/stomach wise. Finally got out the house today which helps tremendously I think, even if just for a little while. I am loving the way they look in a sports bra. This is a size medium and fits snug! I’m very happy with the size I chose and can’t believe how much they continue to change so quickly. Updated on 15 Sep 2020: Today I had another follow up appointment with my doctor to make sure everything was still going as it should. He says my incisions are looking great and that I shouldn’t worry about the scarring. My sutures aren’t completely dissolved yet, but slowly getting there. My next appointment is in 2 weeks, unless I need another suture or something happens before then. Today I also learned massaging, but I’m not sure how to feel about. I feel like I’m worried about messing them up or doing it incorrectly, so I am going to do some research on it. I also wanted to see if anyone on here had any tips for correctly doing the massaging. My implants are still sitting high (but less tight) which does cause some uncomfort when massaging. I was also instructed to wear my Velcro strap (to keep them dropping) as much as possible until my next appointment. My left one is dropping slightly faster than the right, but that is completely normal. Luckily my incisions haven’t been too itchy but I do get a weird itching sensation on my left side boob. It feels like an itch, but if I scratch the feeling doesn’t go away. Again, normal and it is my nerves and also from the skin being stretched. I am just happy to have all feeling, although my nipples are a little sensitive at times. I am very happy with them, feeling very confident, and actually taking advantage of them while they are still high (gives the effect of a push up bra, which is nice since I can’t wear a regular bra yet!) Thanks for reading! Updated on 23 Sep 2020: Hi everyone. Since I only had up 1 before photo up, I wanted to attach some more here and my stats. I wore a 32 A bra, but the cups gaped. My Height: 5’0 My Weight: 90 - 95 lbs My age: 21 Narrow frame Updated on 23 Sep 2020: Hey everyone! I don’t have much more of an update since my last but I did want to attach some more progress pictures for you all. Feeling very confident, as you can probably tell from photos. They are getting softer to the touch, and easier to push together. My nipples are still sensitive to the touch at times. I also noticed they were bigger/stretched and seemed to be hard all the time before. They seemed to have gone back to normal size and are no longer hard all the time. I am still having random “itching” sensations that I mentioned previously. I am finally getting used to them being there. It’s definitely hard for me to get dressed for work with just a sports bra underneath. I did buy some “Nippies” off amazon to wear with dresses / white tube top I am wearing in the photos. I was worried about them hurting my nipples but they didn’t. If yours are sensitive I would recommend putting bandaids over them. I was also sure not to put the sticky part anywhere near my incision area since it’s still healing. One side of stitches has completed dissolved and the other has almost. I do still have some discomfort still when sleeping on my side or moving my arms a certain way. I also can’t crack my lower back which is aggravating, lol. If anyone has any tips on lower back pain I would appreciate it, as I am sitting in a computer chair most days at work and can’t really stretch like I want to without having some discomfort. I will of course bring this up to my doctor when I see him next week. I will update you all next week after my next appointment!
My journey started 18 years ago after my 4th child (I was 33 years old at the time). I had a lollipop breast lift with 400cc silicone implants and a mini TT. The results were fabulous and I was very pleased until approximately 2 years ago when I started to go thru menopause. I noticed my skin was less elastic and things just didn’t look the same. I also had a leak in my Mentor breast implant to the R breast that was causing contracture and discomfort. I knew it was time to take the plunge and have the full mommy makeover - breast lift with new implants (300cc L, 250cc R), TT with muscle repair and lipo to abdomen and flanks. My daughter-in-law and several of her friends had gone to Dr. Pearl for a variety of procedures. They were all very pleased with his work and highly recommended him. I was traveling across the country so I needed someone that was willing to conduct virtual visits prior to the procedure. Dr. Pearl and his staff are very easy to work with and I am extremely pleased with the results. I have taken several pictures of my journey along the way and will continue to update the site. I recently went back to my workout routine so I’m sure the results will improve even more as time goes on. The only complaint I have about the entire process is that Dr. Pearl’s office staff is very difficult to get a hold of. I had much better results getting responses prior to my procedure. Since the completion of my procedure I have not had one phone call or email returned from them. On the other hand Dr. Pearl is always great about responding to corespondent and guarantees his work.
I had my lips injected by another physician in town and developed necrosis/ischemia in my upper lip. I was terrified but I went to see Dr. Pearl and even though he had not done my initial procedure it was so incredibly kind, capable and put me immediately at ease. He treated the ischemia in his office and I was already feeling and looking better before I left his office!!! The deep blueness around my upper lip had already started to resolve…I cannot recommend this physician enough... he is incredibly talented!!!!!
This is another journey for me drain less tummy tuck, liposuction and muscle repair. My procedure it's scheduled for 05/20. I'm excited, I kinda fell the same way I did when I did my breast augmentation in 03/12. This time I'm making sure that I document this journey here and on my YouTube channel at mssenseless. Follow me when that time comes closer for video. Updated on 30 Oct 2020: I was scheduled for my procedure in May 2020, but due to COVID I got scared. I stayed in contact with my doctor’s coordinator along the way. Now I’m scheduled with 2 months away. I haven’t confirmed an exact date. Which I will be getting soon sometime within the coming week. I’m excited and nervous at the same time. As soon as I get a confirmed date I will post it. Also when it get closer I will Vlog on my YouTube channel ( ms senseless) my journey. Feel free to ask questions. Stay tune and stay safe! Thank you Updated on 2 Nov 2020: At this point now that I’m officially scheduled I’m good! Now I’m looking online for items that I will need to help me through my recovery process. So, if anyone has any input please share. Thank you Updated on 1 Dec 2020: At this point I’ve ordered majority of the items that are must haves from Amazon. List below 1. Walker 2. Toilet seat riser 3. Faja 4. Sleepwear 5. House socks 6.Neck pillow 7.Bed pads 8. Shower chair The walker will be a perfect items because I wouldn’t be able to walk straight up. Also, the seat riser great choice less distance to sit on the toilet. I saw that on a YouTube video. You will definitely need a compression garment. The shower chair eventually that good hot shower will last longer than usual haha. Standing will be difficult for the first weeks. So why not be comfortable. Those are some of the items I have so far but I will also, provide another list of more items. Updated on 25 Dec 2020: I’m all paid up. All my products are in from Amazon. All of those items are listed in the previous message. My pre-Op it’s on December 29, in a few days. I will be back in a few days Updated on 30 Dec 2020: Did my pre-op yesterday. It went very well basically going over my medical history and what to expect the day of surgery. My surgery will be a drain-less tube and the 1st 24 hours I will be in the hospital with two nurses. I will have a full body compression garment on with an open crotch area. They are giving me only one medication which is opioids. Hopefully everyone should know what opioids are... Additional information for care before. I have shower with dial soap, no dairy products, no meats only a liquid diet before surgery. And finally nothing to eat after midnight and arrive at 6:15am day of surgery. Find more information on my YouTube channel of my surgery update Ms Sensless... Updated on 24 Jan 2021: When I got there I was nervous. The staff advice me at pre-op my doctor usually runs late, but that day he was on time. With all the Q&A from nurses and the anesthesiologist it lasted about 30 minutes. I was sitting in a recliner just chilling getting my IV and within few minutes I was waking up lol. Everything went so fast! I stayed overnight with 2 nurses at my side. I woke up about 8:20pm in and out. They told me around midnight they will get me to start walking around with a walker. I did that, they kept me warm with warm blankets and a heater. Hands down the best staff ever. The nurses stayed on time with my meds, they made sure I was comfortable. I ate my crackers and drank either water or sprite. My tummy tuck, muscle repair and hernia surgery was all done local in my city 20 minutes from my home. Love my Dr Pearl and his staff.
After losing over 120 pounds following bariatric surgery, the loose skin was a constant source of irritation for me. I had medicated powder to put into my belly button, as well as under my stomach flap to TT and keep it dry and and keep the skin integrity as best I could. I had a couple of consults with surgeons in my area, it the favorite hands down was Dr. Carl Pearl. He Immediately made me feel comfortable, his nurse is amazing, and his coordinator is the sweetest woman ever. Fee a thorough examination he said I didn't need muscle repair, as I barely had a separation even after 5 children. We also checked my breasts for a quote for a breast lift as well. I went back and forth for about a week or two before I scheduled my date and got the ball rolling! I would have been in sooner, but I wanted to get through my children's birthdays before I was down for a few weeks. The day of surgery was a great experience. Dr. Pearl's nurse was amazing and was with me the whole step of the way. I couldn't ask for a better team to take care of me a I will be back for more after I am healed up from this procedure. I can't thank everyone at Savannah Plastic Surgery enough.
Dr. Pearl is kind, pleasant and you can tell he knows exactly what to do in order to accomplish the patients goals. He did a wonderful job on my rhinoplasty and I have felt well cared for throughout the healing process. I highly recommend Dr. Pearl and his wonderful team!
Dr.Pearl is a rockstar, he loves all his patients and it shows in his work. If I ever need work done again, I am calling him! His staff is amazing, and it shows in everything they do. You won’t be disappointed.
Your greatest risk of breast reduction after having had radiation is that you are at an increased risk of having a wound healing problem due to the radiation. In addition, the soft tissues of your breast may be firmer, making the surgery technically more challenging. That said, we frequently perform these kind of procedures on breasts that have been irradiated while trying to achieve symmetry after breast reconstruction. Any breast tissue removed during the reduction would be sent for pathology to make sure there is no malignancy that did not show up on exam or mammogram.
While you can get some improvements in ptosis or droopiness of the breast by placing the implant above the muscle, your risk of developing a capsular contracture is much, much greater above the muscle. You will be happier in the long run if you choose a sub pectoral implant location.
It is very normal to have swelling this soon after surgery. It can take a few weeks for swelling to go down depending on the original size of your breasts.
It is normal for you to feel some discomfort with stretching. As long as you do not have numbness, tingling or weakness all should recover and feel very normal.
If you have physical and psychological distress from the size of your breasts, there is no indication for waiting. I would recommend seeking a second opinion from a board certified plastic surgeon.
